    Excellent room and excellent service on the 14th of Feb! Loved the extra touches.

    None to be truthful! There were cobwebs in the room but considering the character of the room (it was acient and I did pay for the same...!) they did nothing but add to the feeling of age and charm. (hence the mark of 'good' for cleanliness)

    Enjoyed the stay. Breakfast was very good, loved the haggis in the cooked breakfast, as was the service. Staff were friendly but not overbearing.

    Thought the bar was overpriced £17.95 for a glass of average shiraz and a bottle of Old Speckled Hen, come on guys!

    "Very pleasant stay. There was a wedding reception at the hotel while we were there but it did not interfere with our stay at all as it was in a marquee away from the hotel and the wedding guests were in a separate room for breakfast." (107193650)

    The staff on reception seem to have been very well trained,and are very pleasant and helpful. We ate in the fine dining room and had our breakfast there the next day, both times the staff were excellent and the food very nice.There was a good variety of freshly cooked food available for breakfast.

    The staff were very friendly and efficient. Beautiful grounds.

    The food was not good and very expensive. Although cooked well, the food was pretty tasteless and very small portions for the price. We had a birthday meal as a group of family and friends and all left still feeling hungry after 3 courses!! Alcohol was also very expensive - £9 for a small bottle of import beer and a glass of wine. So we left sober and hungry!

    The building was stunning, however the approach was not as expected, nor the setting of the hotel

    The terrace resturant was a disappointment, the furniture was out of keeping with the rest of the building. The chairs were uncomfortable especially when you take into account the time the meal took.

    The room we had was very comfortable with small touches to make the stay enjoyable. There was a nightcap and excellent tea/coffee facilities in the room.

    Laying in bed and looking at the ceiling and the mass of cobwebs around the coving and down the wall made me wonder how big the spider was!!

    "The overall stay in the hotel was very enjoyable, the staff were very friendy, meals were excellent and the hotel in geneal was very nice. It says in the hotel description about the towels being incredibly soft but they definately weren't!" (97999937)

    "Very well located hotel to get to/from by car and a great setting with moat and gardens. There is a lovely spa and gym with pool too. Service is second to none and the food/menu were both superb, prices very good considering the quality. Excellent room service menu. Certainly going to come back here." (97098606)

    Great suite with a lovely view over the courtyard.

    Remote controls had back missing, this should have been picked up and the room was a bit awkward to get in to with bags as you were immediately faced with a narrow staircase to negotiate.

    "The only thing I would like to say was that the shower wasn't hot enough for us. Whether that was just a case of us not using the taps correctly I don't know. We did find even turning it to max the water never got particularly hot." (97343459)

    it was the little touches i liked. The antique suitcases on the top of the wardrobe for example. My partner and I also agreed that the bed was probably the most comfortable we've slept on (we were in the Dawn suite).

    "Good accomodation if you are happy to stay out of town. Gives you a good feeling. Room was large and comfortable. Wee drop of sherry in the room for night cap, was a good touch. Would have liked Drambui or similar. Breakfast had good choice, but did not like the solid wood bare tables and chairs." (99290347)

    Hotel location very good. Staff very helpful and the room was clean and good size. We did ask for Dunlop Pillows but did not get it. Spent some time in Spa & Pool. Very nice indeed. Enjoyed overnight stay.

    "My job is to review certain hotels in the london area and I find it hard not to look for the good and bad in every hotel I now stay in! I found this hotel generally very pleasant,and, although I found the food very well presented it lacked the yum factor! It would have been lovely to see the walled garden being used to grow vegetables for the kitchens!" (99132397)

    The accommodation was delightful as was the hotel. The staff,particularly the restaurant staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

    The bed was uncomfortable and dipped in the middle despite having a board shoved under it and I would have expected more from an executive room, such as a mini bar.

    Comfortable bed, complimentary home made biscuits & decanter of sherry, spacious room (upgraded from the one I had booked), coffee making facilities, lovely soft bath robe, warm radiator in bathroom, Elemis toiletries, the breakfast cooked to order was superb. The staff in this area of the hotel were professional and friendly. The bar was a strange shape but I felt comfortable in there even though I was a lone female

    it was a little worn- the varnish was peeling off the coffee table, no pen or pencil, no tissues(a mistake apparently), the duvet was lumpy and the pillows were very firm, the chairs in the breakfast room were uncomfortable- I assumed it was so that you didn't linger but found out later that this is also a restaurant - glad i didn't. eat there. Overall I thought it needed updating, perhaps small flat screen TVs in the bedrooms and smarter bed linen.

    "I would have liked to have read the inhouse welcome pack material before booking. This is the best written, informative,warm and funny piece, which having read it made me feel as though I had a very personal welcome from the Manager and all his staff.
