    "Overall apart from 2 of the room issues we were happy with everything. I had rang booking.com to cancel the 6th room but on arrival i was told this hadn't been done which was very annoying for me to have to deal with when all we wanted to do was check-in!!!" (107426829)

    We had booked 5 rooms. 1 of the rooms was awful and the 2 people had to be moved to another room and another 2 people couldn't get into their room after using the leisure facilities and had to wait in their towels for 15mins whilst hotel staff sorted it out!!!

    Staff were extremely helpful in view of our late arrival @ midnight and early departure.Your commissionaire took the trouble of escorting us to the Ring Road to get out of Manchester,above & beyond the call of duty,our deepest thanks to him.

    Bedroom was more than adequate for our short stay,though air-conditioning made a lot of noise during the night.

    "To be honest the staff were very nice but the hotel standards and room and food presevation and presentation was very poor." (107386102)

    staff were friendly and helpful

    The room was in a poor state bath looked well used floor tiles were cracked door to bathroom wouldnt shut, wall paper in room was peeling away. Also food for breakfast bar was bland and was not fresh.

    the chap who looks after the leisure club was very customer focussed,a delight to be dealt with

    hot chocolate ordered via room service took best part of an hour and then had the cheek to try and charge for it £2.75

    "Found the staff, especially Marcus in the Bar extremely helpful and friendly. The room itself although maybe in need of some renovation was lovely and clean. If going to Manchester again, would definately stay in the Thistle as the the price was exceptionally good value for a double room. Not sure if this was because I booked on line though." (97446218)

    Hotel building impressive

    We were woken up by hammering at 8 am .Your hotel manager refused to make any adjustments or even APOLOGISE about the noise said we should have said it before??!!! I feel you should have said that we were staying on a building site we would have chosen to stay elsewhere

    The staff did their best in very demanding situations and I felt sorry for them. The bed was comfortable.

    No air-conditioning in bedrooms which were unbearably hot. Hotel being refurbished, as a consequence the outside was very dirty. The conference rooms were the worst I have come across.

    The hotel is not a 4 star it needs updating, the first room we were given had an odour of smoking.After a request for a third room the room was excellent, no problems.

    The staff were a bit slow on checking in, after asking for another room for the third time they found a better room, so if you keep asking you will get a better room.

    I upgraded to a twin bedded room at the last minute the room was quiet very clean and comfortable as with all hotels never enough tea bags sugar and milk we came to go to a concert at the MEN so we found the hotel ideal for trains and the concert venue..

    Room was shabby and stank of smoke. The hotel needs refurbishing from floor 1 upwards.

    "A good quality well situated hotel. Within easy walking distance of the railway station. Room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent and taken in very pleasant surroundings. Staff were all very attentive, helpful and prompt." (97624146)

    Check in procedure was slow and laborious as it appeared that the receptionist was a trainee; check out, however, was excellent.

    "We had a fire alarm go off at 6.30am and when we left our room we had to find our own way (in the maze) to the fire stairs, there were no hotel staff guiding us and when we got outside there were still no hotel staff. Luckily there wasn't actually fire!" (97996162)

    "Overall the hotel was fine - If these few matters of rooom-rate were sorted out between the website and the front-office team then that issue woudl be gone. If there is a facility missing (like the swimming-pol)the guest should be informed on arrival and perhaps offered an alternative centre to use." (97878351)

    The hotel was very central The staff wemet were very nice The Breakfast was very good

    The room was quite small The room rate was higher to the one we booked online and then we had to go through the hassle of seeking to have it ammended which I find undignified. The swimming pool in the leisure Centre was out of action during our stay. There was a large scaffolding on the face of the hotel The Breakfast is v expensive

    The hotel was clean and cared for, the staff attentive and the breakfast excellant

    Many of the suspended roof tiles were damaged or removed on the fourth floor where we stayed, I assume they had had a problem with their pipes!

    Room was spacious and well furnished

    carpet wet, room too hot query qir conditioning broken although staff did not inform us of this. When I mentioned it the next morning staff unconcerned and told me to complete the questionaire. Other guests complained and we checked out before breakfasat although had paid for this as could not sleep all night due to the heat.

    Hotel was very close to everything, Piccadilly train station and buses to stratford shoppin centre close by. Staff very friendly. Clean hotel and bed linen.

    Room was very hot. There was a fan but this was too noisy to leave on at night. Room slightly old fashioned.

    "Real language issues when booking in and with the staff at breakfast. Very difficult to make myself understood. For a 4 star hotel, the room we stayed in looked very tired!
