    The breakfasts were excellent and the service good. The room was good and well serviced. The staff were very helpful and took time to deal with any queries.

    Not really bad points, but we stayed at the hotel last year under its previous owner, which is why we returned, and noticed that now improvements are being made there are still one or two features that have not been completed,e.g. the lower stairs are still awaiting carpet which certainly needed replacing.

    I couldn't find the hotel at first because it's got a different name outside (no warning of this). when I asked whether I could pay the difference between a "full English breakfast" and an "English breakfast" I was told I'd have to pay the full price!! The room was in a cottage up the street - no mention of this in the booking! The room was very cold and there were stone floors throughout

    Young lady on reception when we arrived, helpful, polite and a credit to the hotel. Thats where it ends.

    Breakfast was atrocious, 40 min to present scrambled eggs that were inedible and I did not think it possible to produce bad toast but you did. There was not a sign of quality anywhere, there was not one customer that was not complaining. I have been using the Abby hotel on and off for many years but that is the last visit. I thought the last owners were bad and as it was under new management I decided I would give it another try. What a mistake, I would rather book into faulty towers than go through that experience again.

    Clean,refurbished light and airy decor. Good beds and bathroom. Restaurant & cafe available on site. Character location near Abbey.

    No parking. Breakfast not included in price. Noisy doves in churchyard opposite if this bothers you.

    "I have stopped at this hotel on numerous occassions, I would class it as cheap and cheerful, except that the price has rocketed. On my previous stops I paid on average £40 BB & evening meal (carvery) which considering the condition of the hotel I felt was a fair price. This visit cost me £65 with no improvement whatsoever. For similar money I could be staying in a lot nicer places..." (108668420)

    "There are only 2/3 parking spaces, however on-road parking was no problem save for moving the car after an hour during the restricted zone. Main shops, pubs, decent restaurants etc well withing easy walking distance. The hotel is located in a quiet area, opposite the abbey, where you can walk in the middle of road without being run overed by traffic! Decking at the front of the hotel suitable for sitting outside and people watching. I always recommend this cheap and cheerful hotel." (97936145)

    Spacious room, polite and friendly staff including night staff. Wi fi access in café area. On road parking was no problem.

    Pricing when booking in was a matter of error and discussion despite what was displayed on their screen

    "Overall we love this hotel and have stayed there twice. The price is extremely reasonable for such a lovely location. The restaurant is great too, but very modern. I like the old fashionedness of the rest of the hotel, especially the old style lift with the doors that you have to slide away yourself. Reminds me of department stores in the sixties! We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was excellent and very good value for money. There are several good pubs very near the hotel too. A very enjoyable stay." (97859531)

    Lovely location opposite an old abbey and churchyard. Lovely king size bed. Beautiful reproduction antique furniture. Smashing old victorian era bath - very deep! Friendly and helpful staff.

    Room was too small for such a big bed. Had to walk sideways like a crab to get round it. I am of medium build, 12 stone, 5 foot 9. A larger person would never get round the bed. Extractor fan in bathroom was very noisy. The carpet and decor were a bit tatty but adequate for the price.

    "There was a problem with me booking in. On arrival they could find no booking for me and no rooms were available for 2 nights. After 15 mins and very angry I was just about to leave when the receptionist discovered I was booked in under the wrong name. Had this not been discovered I am sure I would have received a bill from you because I had failed to turn up. I strongly object to members of staff just walking into my room at will without knocking or being invited in. To finish on a minor point, whilst the breakfast was full English and substantial perhaps a little less oil could be used, it was very greesy" (97682153)

    dirty bags of washing littered corridor on way to room, cleanliness left a lot to be desired soap scum still around sink, poor facilities ie no hairdryer in room. all furniture was on a slope and was levelled out by cardboard or clothes hangers.

    Good price and great location.

    We found everything clean & tidy and the location was quite and relaxing.

    Room was a bit quirky with creaky floorboards and the bathroom could have been better.

    good food and well situated in the small town

    parking is for only 3 cars ,but we were told this before booking,there was also five 60 watt bulbs in a small bedroom wich i would like to see change for energy saving bulbs,this goes for all of the hotel

    "Normally rooms are not avaialble before 3.00pm but we rang and asked if we could get in earlier as we had a function to atend in Wymondham and the staff were very accommodating and switched us to a room that was available. Breakfast was not included in the rate but we decided to have it anyway. The table we sat at was not prepared for breakfast and we had to find cups, plates, milk etc ourselves. We were well inside the time limit for breakfast but it was quite obvious that most of the selfservice cooked breakfast had been standing for some time. We had to ask for eggs but at least they were freshly cooked. Overall then arrival process was good but definitely breakfast was a let down." (97518362)

    The superior room was very pleasant.

    "Booking was easy and great value for money. I have stayed at this hotel before and will again. Breakfast is extra, but still makes the stay good value. Could be helpful to offer small maps of Wymondham and/or local area for those not knowing the region." (97191741)

    Excellent value for money. Polite and helpful staff. Comfortable beds.

    Couln't find the TV remote. Could only find three channels on TV. I do not watch a lot of TV so this did not bother me but may bother other visitors.

    Convenient location. Very comfortable bed. Wi-fi access.

    Room was rather too small and cramped. To be honest the bathroom was bigger. Evening meal was Curry, take it or leave it - I left it and found an excellent meal elsewhere in the town. At breakfast it was clear that the meal had been pre-prepared and toast was neither apparent nor offered. Never experienced that before anywhere.

    "I think that it would have been nice to know where we could have parked the car beforehand. Also if thhe booking information could have contained a little more about the meal availability cost etc it would have been helpful. As we wereon a fairly tight budget we felt that £7:50 for breakfast was more than we could afford , however we discovered too late thet there were a range of options for breakfast. it wasn't a big problem as i personaly have several dietary needs that are usually out of the range of hotel ctering. i have to say that the whole experience was really good & Ijust as a little aside , we had in fact visited the hotel before I had forgotten! But it was 29 years ago & in fact our youngest daughter was concieved there. thnkfully I have not returned home in the same condition as last time !!! So thankyou for our visit may you be blessed in your work in that place." (97066212)
