    Fab location, Buffet breakfast which is better that the usual 1 egg and 1 bacon.Large clean room. Someone mentioned ex Butlins hotel.Stayed in a lot worse. 1 min walk to the Merry England bar north pier.

    Depends what your looking for as some say that Grand its not.Overall a good clean hotel that does the job for a few nights away. Breakfast finishes at 10am which is a little to early if you have had a drink the night before.

    Location

    Receptionist at check-in not helpful as did not know where I can park my car over night. Simply said he drives to work and does not know local car parks. Receptionist in the morning did not have a change for £5.00 ( as I had to wake up before 8am in order to put some money in the parking meter). Housekeeping department below any standards. New bed linen was just dropped on the floor in front of each room, the dirty linen was next to it ( that what I saw on the second floor in the morning. THIS IS HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE !!! Waiters in the restaurant started to clean the tables before 10am. Did not feel welcome in your breakfast restaurant at all.

    "Like a lot of Blackpool the whole hotel oozes faded Victorian grandeur but it's a lovely building and could be a fantastic hotel with a little money and more importantly a rise in standards across the board and a manager who knows the meaning of first class service." (107669920)

    Great Location, good view from the room (but we paid extra for that), thats about it.

    The whole hotel smells like an old peoples home and it seems is mainly used by the elderly and their disadvantaged offspring, the Premier room we had was large and clean but only decorated to the standard of a normal room in any other hotel and the bathroom had a broken light and toilet roll holder. The service in the restaurant was non existant, even the Premier Restaurant.

    most of the staff were helpfull

    one member of staff was very rude and abrupt when i asked for a small coffee at breakfast she scoweld at me and told me she would bring one 5 minutes went buy i asked her again and she ignored me so i asked another lady and she brought me one straightaway this was on my first morning

    "I would never go back to the Grand Metropole Hotel in Blackpool and it truly spoilt my weekend." (107171773)

    It was central to all the tourist places and it did have a car park

    Everything that went wrong did!! It was like faulty towers. The mattress on the bed ahd the springs coming through it, the bathroom had not been cleaned the dirty towels were still in the bath, mould on the shower head, toilet roll holder broken. Lack of tea/coffee facilities in room. The seaview was a basement looking out onto a brick wall. The smell of sewage was apparent. There were a few people who complained to reception. A letter of complaint to follow

    when we got their, there was no room booked fior us. even though i had booked it through a reputable site i was absolutely livid. i had drove from manchester for a very speacial family evening and it was ruined by being tiold there was no room booked. after being upset the very very nice counter clerk offered us a unrenovated room to which was absolutely horrendous. it stunk of cigarettes, was cold and couldnt sleep due ti the noise outside. i will never ever stay in a brittania hotel again and i certainly will not be using expedia or reccomending this service to anyone.

    The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were warm and clean.

    The mattress had a huge dip in one side of it and ended up sleeping on a pillow to stop myself falling out. A friend also had to put up with a fire door banging through out the night as people walked through the corridor. The carpets have been stuck togeather with sellotape which makes the hotel look shabby. On the website it mentions parking but when we got there it mentioned rates for the car park. We did not know about payment for parking and it was only luck that it wasn't working, so we did not have to pay. The carpark is also very tight and i don't think there are enough spaces provided.

    Spacious room with a sea view. Heating system very good. TV excellent reception. Room service was adequate - beds made very day. Evening entertainment was good.

    Expected better decor as was a premier room booking. The standard of food in the restaurant had gone down from our stay last year. Public rooms nicely decorated but felt our bedroom was in need of redecoration and definite upgrading of bathroom (no shower in our particular room, toilet roll holder broken.) Toilet was not cleaned every day. Some problems with obtaining clean towels.

    "3 check in staff at front of house took several minutes to acknowledge my presence. They were unable to find my on line booking on their computer although I had all paperwork. They did however find a room for us. We had to go downstairs to it - the corridor was very clinically white, bright lights, white tiled floor but there was an odour of dampness. Walking into our room was a bit like walking into a dungeon - it was quite dark - 2 tiny windows about 3 feet from a damp wall and overflow pipe. The room was spacious, wardrobe and fitments with plenty of drawers. Nice white well lit bathroom but where was the shaver socket? Buffet breakfast was quite acceptable as was the Sunday dinner buffet but the vegetables on the Saturday left a lot to be desired - either tinned or frozen. The information book in the room did not tell us the times of meals nor was the information on the key card. Had their been a questionnaire in the room I would have completed it." (97552775)

    looks like starting a program of up dating bathrooms. breakfast was very good hot and plentiful.

    sink plug did not work, dirty towels left in room from previous guests,put them out side room and still there when checked out next morning. booked a double bed and got a 3/4

    "The hotel is in a great position for cental Blackpool venues and is very impressive on first entering but once in the room leaves a lot to be desired. No complimentary bathroom products or hair dryer. Such a shame!" (108083746)

    Food was quite good although the tea/coffee weren't ideal served in thermos jugs, tea tasted very stewed.

    The room was a great size but boy was it dirty, no way would I use the shower as the shower head was black with mould,wallpaper peeling off walls,plaster falling off bathroom wall,heated towel rail hanging off wall and ceiling badly stained. Generally a very, very dirty room.Didn't bother asking to be moved as overheard when checking in that all double rooms were full.

    "On booking form I asked for a sea view, but when I checked in and went to my room found it to be the total opposite, a room that was tiny and no view (except a brick wall) at all. Went to reception and they qickly changed the room. Surely if on the booking form I asked for a view, I was clearly not going to be happy with the room I was given. Some people would probably just accept this, but I feel if people know in advance what type of room they are going to be in it would give them the option of acceping or declining, and the room rate should also justify the accomadation and the view. Overall the hotel was an good standard and will be even better when the re-furbishment is finished, and apart from only small details my stay was very enjoyable. I must say on behalf of all my party the food was very good, but the evening entertainment needs a drastic lift, even for the more elderly people staying there it was very poor." (97788744)

    We booked a standard room, but we were given a premier room with a sea view, fridge and ironing facilities at no extra cost.

    The wall paper was peeling off the ceiling and walls, and we were next what sounded like a generator room.

    "Refurbishment was an excuse for poor quality, poor value and poor service. We feel they should have closed the hotel until their refurbishment was complete. Shabby surroundings.     "I read a lot of reviews about this hotel on the internet but went with an open mind anyway as I considered it great value for money. Although a little tatty from the outside the inside is just stunning and very grand. We asked for a superior room and had wonderful panoramic sea views over Blackpool and a quirky room. Food fab - full english breakfast with as much toast and coffee as you can eat in the splendour of the refurbished restaurant. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will be going back at Easter - style on a budget!" (97499704)

    Stunning surroundings,friendly staff and just perfect for a relaxing weekend.

    Could only get one cup of coffee in the morning in the room per person.

    "Online booking was good; However there was a mismatch between booking center and hotel. Manager was excelent in sorting the problems which others also had. If I had known about the premium rooms I would have booked one. The rooms that are not yet renovated are not fit to offer to the public. When all are renovated the hotel would be very good. Rooms on the Tram side should be triple glazed due to the clubs and Kebab/chip shops on that side which emty onto the street at 4 am" (97080973)

    The location of the hotel is perfect.

    The interior of the hotel is very old and in disarray. The staff were not overly friendly.

    The hotel is in such a convenient position for everything in Blackpool; the facilities and the sea.

    The room was rather sad, shabby and dreary, but the hotel is quite old of course and I booked at the last minute and was lucky to get a room at all.

    "The windows needed cleaning in our room as you could not see through them all in all the room was not a nice place especailly compared with the grandness of the hotel, the staff were all very nice and happy to help, and the food was good and a lot of choice. and having the car park there was handy. The only down side was the room but iam sure that there are nicer rooms in the hotel with nice views, we were just unlucky." (3305271676)
