    "Very poor, this hotel wants rubbing out and drawing again. staff were friendly but up against it with a hotel that was dated 30 years ago." (107478193)

    Shower great - hot and powerful

    Beds beyond awful, bathroom depressingly dated and pretty awful too, room smelled like an old ash tray, windows draughty old and let in all noise from street, room dirty and hanging in cobwebs

    hotel in central position

    bar dining room lacking in atmosphere breakfast on first morning was very poor mainly because of a lack of staff only one young boy on duty and scrambled egg and toast was all we had very disappointing but on next two mornings was ok when more staff were working.

    Reception area and staff very nice and friendly

    Room not at all up to 4 star standard. shower curtain was mouldy, bathroom shelves rusty, damp stains on bathroom walls, one light bulb gone out and one light shade missing, difficulty in flushing toilet, duvet cover had a split one one side. I stayed in room 104. Colleagues also complained of low room stands similar to above.

    good decor very contempory good location helpful reception staff. Food was good

    restaurant service was far to quick! we were served two courses and were out of the door in 30 minutes. Bar is very noisey and we had to walk through brasserie each time we returned to the bar. we booked an early meal however even though the restaurant was empty we were sat next to the kitchen and had a member or staff sorting cutlery and side plates for a function the next day stood right next to us making private conservation impossible. we as a consequence did not use the restaurant again during our stay we even went out for breakfast both mornings.

    Although part of a group that has some very fresh, contemporary hotels, this isn't one of them. To put it bluntly, it needs gutting and starting again. Very, very tired and dated.

    Staff and the cleanliness in the public areas was good

    The cleanliness in the bedroom and bathroom could have been better and some areas in these rooms needed updating. Parking was difficult as there are about 80 rooms but only 35 parking spaces.

    Hotel in a lovely place, ideal for getting about. Staff friendly and helpful.

    Rooms we stayed in were excellent until used bathroom were flushing toilet or running water sounded like a tank invasion.

    "Great location, nice room and staff - noise was the biggest problem we backed onto a street that had a restaurant nearby and the emptying of glass and rubbish bins in the early hours along with street cleaning and local noise throughout the evening means that we will probably not use this hotel again. We could request a front facing room, but these overlooked a very busy main road and I doubt the noise level would be any better, shame." (107449101)

    very good central location Staff pleasant Room okay TV was a nice size and had additional channels

    Noisy - lots of noise from next room and LOTS of street noise / Bin emptying etc. Lift very small - only 2/3 fit Toilet had small leak (which meant that cistern was continually filling up) Most of breakfast was okay - but the bacon and mushrooms were very greasy and there were large pieces of eggshell in the scrambled eggs! Lovely view of a brick wall.

    hotel shabby for four star suite - bathroom plumbing noisy - holes in bathroom wall - ; imited complimentary toiletries - replacement towels were damp - walls needed repainting.

    location

    requested twin, made up as double on arrival. Facility is "tired" and in need of up-grade. Internet charge is high. Final bill had two breakfasts on not taken. I requested them to be removed but only one was (i did not re-check) but intinally internet had not been charged for. Poor record keeping.

    Good welcome at Reception. Room was fantastic, very spacious Parking was good and centrally located with everything I needed only a short walk away. I have booked the hotel again this week. Great views from the room over Harrogate.

    "Very pleasant, we usually stay in the Cedarcourt or the Cairn hotel as we visit Harrogate quite often with work, but both were fully booked, I'd be happy to add the Yorkshire Hotel to my list of preferred hotels now." (108097511)

    Hotel was centrally located and handy for town centre, night porter was very helpful and even though we were pretty late back arranged for some food to be delivered for us, rooms were spacious and tidy

    Parking was a bit limited with one of my colleauges having to park on the road and go and put a ticket on the car first thing in the morning.

    "The superb location does to some exyent offset the slightly tired feel to the interior . The room was well appointed and of adequate size but again in need of refurbishment and redecoration .     The room was very nicely done although let down slightly by the decor of the bathroom. Overall the hotel was of a very high standard esp the entrance,bars and the room itself. I think the corridors leading to my room could have however had a bit more effort made to match the standard of the other areas

    "When I walked into the hotel I was very impressed with the decor and set up. Unfortuneately I had booked a budget single room and that is what I got. The bedroom was very small but comfortable and the bathroom felt old and a little tatty." (97425520)

    clean, tidy, well-serviced; very convenient location for station and conference centre

    I.T. seems to have been given higher priority than the heating - which was provided by an old and inadequate appliance in the bedroom and completely absent from the bathroom

    "We love harrogate and the yorkshire is in agood central position, with Bettys just across the way, a visit there is a must. A good place to shop, relax and lovely walks near by. And travel to local places either by car, better still leave the car behind and try the public transport for a change. We will stay at the yorkshire again." (97191576)

    It was adequate for a weekend stay, loved the location quite central and just across from Bettys, not to be missed.

    We found the electric water system very noisey and irritating, sorry.

    "Reception staff appeared to be more concerned with other things than book me in, not offerd help with luggage, morning paper, dinner in the restaurant.     "I ate in the reataurant on 14/2, i booked for 5.30pm as i had to be at my conference at 7pm, i ordered fish & chips it arrived at 6.45pm! very overcooked. I did speak to the receptionist who took the cost off my bill. In the restaurant i had to ask for a menu & was not asked if i would like anything else, I suggest the restaurant staff eat at Betty's Tea Rooms & find out how they should act in a 4 * restaurant."     "The staff were friendly and the room clean'However the room was not double glazed and appeared to have orginal windows.As it fronted one of the main streets it was noisy and as it was windy the windows rattled and let in draughts thus making it difficult to sleep." (97571800)

    "Booked this as stopover on route down south as my wife had not visited Harrogate before. Booked as location could not be improved on, ideal one night stay. Parking great, as we arrived early and could get a slot,would not have wanted to be booking in late as doubt any slots would be left.Had an excellent lunch in Bistro, served by first class friendly efficient staff, menu fine for lunch but same menu for evening meal forced us elsewhere.Comfortable room BUT OH DEAR - THE NOISE FROM THE TOILET. Considerable work still to be done on basic fabric of building which obviously has leaks etc. Overall good for one night or at most a weekend break" (97898107)

    "Hotel was booked for it's position, as it was our yearly xmas shopping trip. We arrived about noon to ask if could leave car, to be told abrubty that we could not book in till 3pm, i noticed all keys for rooms were hung up in plain veiw and carpark was not full.     Nice Victorian building. 3 minute walk to Harrogate Station.

    the room was too cold and i had to ask twice for an electric heater before i got one. there was no central heating or air conditioning in the room - simply an electric heater attached in the corner of the room.

    Smart entrance hall and restaurant area; excellent position in town.

    Grotty corridor to room. Tidemarked carpet etc. No shampoo in room (broken dispenser). Bathplug detached. Told WiFi internet was free but not only was it not free but via the most expensive provider operating in the UK and with no cross-over arrangement with another provider (eg as can be provided by Cloud)
