    "very convenient for business appointment but overall rooms need attention. I had booked a superior room but it had areas of damp on the ceiling and an ancient mattress which was extremely uncomfortable and left me with a bad back the following day." (108611725)

    Reasonably priced. Sports facilities available. Good room service selection.

    Room decoration needed attention. Mattress extremely uncomfortable. No mobile reception on Orange or O2 networks. No BBC1 or BBC2 reception due to problems with signal on satellite system. No assistance offered or given to carry heavy bags to 1st floor bedroom.

    Professional staff, food ie breakfast was good and waitress was very friendly. Ideally situated fational Trust sites.

    Ammple parking at the rear which is not adequately signposted at the front entrance car park. Bed was too small in length, despite my asking when booking for a long bed.

    service and ambience excellent will stay again next year as we are all golfing at Scarcroft, Leeds

    Stayed in room eight, room very clean, with all facilities, as anticipated;, unfortunately I am 6ft 2ins, and two beams were at eye level, I was warned by receptionist, however I shall require a different room next year.

    "Excellent, as simple as that" (107983087)

    Quality of food was superb and given the price exceptional value. We stayed overnight to break our journey home to Glasgow following a funeral in Kings Lynn that morning. Our stay and the impression left is such that we intend to return for a longer stay. All staff were friendly and courteous

    Very minor.. The window would not close but as we would have had it open anyway rather irrelevant but in winter or less clement weather could have been of concern

    The hotel, was very busy with weddings, which left 1 member of staff running the front desk as well as the bar, when it was very busy. I also ordered a baked potato for a quick lunch before the wedding, and when it came it was cold!

    "A lovely stay in a very pretty place. We would highly recommend a stay in the hotel and a visit to the picturesque villiage of Knaresbourough. " (107816331)

    The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The toiletries and drinks provided were very good. The decour was very tastefully done. The leisure facilities were very good too.

    The lighting for evening reading was poor(given that we're a mature couple and eyesight beginning to let us down!)Our room was over or very near the leisure facilities generator and that droned from 7ish until late. It was bearable though, just a noise you had to adjust to.

    "Overall a very disappointing holiday hotel" (107817342)

    The downstairs of the hotel were in better condition than the bedrooms

    Basically the bedrooms were dusty , dirty carpets and curtains, television which could not get a programme for interference. we were initially given a double room with wideopen window , heating turned off bed with dirty coverlet and ditto a settee. when we said we booked anexecutive suite. we were told all the rooms are the same and most people dont like that room we mentioned we had seen on the web(we only have one exec) as there are no windows and the floor is uneven and squeaky but if you want it you can have it. if all of the rooms are the same why advertise on the net an exec SUITE and charge us more money. overall the only good point was good hot water for a bath. we felt uncomfortable in the hard bed and overall the hotel spoilt our weekend away, we checked hotels in aharrogate and they were lovely and cheaper than Dower House and the staff were very friendly. I did complain to the manageress on leaving and so did the guest in front of me at the desk.

    Very good all round. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and wished it had been longer.

    The only bad was that the double bed was singles together although I was informed by reception that I could request a one piece double in futures.

    good spacious executive room with a nice seperate room as well as the bedroom.nice big spacious bed as well.nice & clean with plenty of space.

    room is situated outside the main entrance which is quite noisy and not very private.en suite was an old fashioned type suite that desperately needs updating.expensive room for a dated decorated exective suite.

    Friendly atmosphere and the staff went out of their way to make our stay very very special.The waitresses bringing a birthday cake for my wife and singing happy birthday to her which was a lovely suprise.

    On our next stay will ask for a bedroom away from the disco music as we tend to retire a little earlier than the youngster who are enjoying themselves.

    rrom lovely (31), welcome bright and cheerful, staff very helpful, facilities clean and tidy, hoyel nice and clean, hotel grounds lovely

    booking our room on the internet we thought we'd booked the room that we eventually got, but when we arrived we were given an executive double room one that we had not seen on the internet, but things got sorted out by your efficient staff and everything was fine, (so internet booking was a little misleading),some parts of the hotel could do with updating eg decor

    Lovely building, lovely clean room and a very nice staff.

    I have never had such small portions of food. My breakfast of bacon and eggs, was, one rasher of bacon and one egg. For dinner, we were served a minute quantity of pureed vegetable with our meal: no 'chewing' vegatables at all. I have never had a meal without vegetables. The 'fruit crumble' was the size of a dessert spoon: I am not exagerating. What little we had however, was very tasty.

    The room was well furnished,clean and tidy. The resteraunt and bar were very good. A good menu, food excellent

    Curtains at the windows instead of v/blinds would have been more appropriate. The bathroom required a make over.

    Rooms were clean and comfortable. Evening receptionist very friendly. Leisure suite was clean and staff friendly. Location good for access to Gt. Yorkshire Show.

    Check in receptionist rather grumpy and unsmiling. Portions at breakfast (cooked) were very small. One of our party requested sausage and bacon only, as this is all she likes. She received one piece of bacon and one sausage only! Not much of a breakfast.

    Staff attitude and helpfulness, all excellent

    Food, some items very poor including pink Duck, perfect colour but very tough. Ditto Steak. CousCous which was really vile in flavour. Duck served with 2 huge orange undercooked, tasteless sweet potatoes and nothing else, not even garnish unless you count 2 garlic cloves. Menu otherwise good on content quality and choice.

    "It was a comfortable stay which was very welcome after a long drive. The dining facilities were very good with pleasant staff and a good menu. The wine selection was good too. The TV reception in our room was appalling so we gave up on it. There were a few steps to negotiate, even in our room up to the en suite, which we wish we had known about in advance." (97642813)

    Hotel very well situated for easy access in and out of Harrogate. Facilities in good order and the place is obviously cared for.

    "We went for just a two-night weekend stay and for most of the time we were there the swimming pool was out of action which was disappointing. All other facilities were fine and the staff were extremely pleasant. The food was of a high standard. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dower House." (97119791)

    "Very helpful staff, food excellent quality, room good size, but lacking extras like a trouser press and minibar, which should be in an executive room. Bathrooms are dated. Noise from the pool extractor fan could be heard all night, but we are assured that this is a problem that has just come to light and is being seen to. Also there is a refit program due to start soon for all the bathrooms. Which is needed.!!!!! But in all, it was a very comfortable stay in a good location and good value for money." (97484333)

    "The hotel being old was very noisy with creaking floorboards. You could hear people in other rooms walking about. The plumbing was in need of immediate attention, being extremely noisy in not just our room but adjacent rooms too. Being weekend it was very busy with weddings. The garden was quite overgrown and in need of some care, it spoilt the overall look of the place. A beautiful building looking a bit neglected in a great location." (99736355)

    Central location, good for acess to surounding area, excellent breakfast.

    Misleading bar snack menu, slow service. Was locked out at 12.30am and took 20 mins to find somebody to unlock the front door.
