  "On arriving we specifically stated that we had a family function to attend and would return late. We asked the receptionist for a key. We were told there was no need, 'there would be someone up to let us in'. We were instructed to leave the room key at reception on the way out. This would ensure that whoever was on duty would know we had not returned earlier in the evening." (108800615)

  Restaurant staff and porter were efficient, pleasant and helpful.

  The reception we received when we returned just before 02.00am was not acceptable. The indiivdual concerned was rude, commented on the lateness of the hour and the fact that ringing the bell once was more than adequate. [We rang it twice after a significant wait following the first time!] The individual asked us could we not see she had a cane, was having difficulty walking and that it took her some time to come to the front door. Perhaps someone else could have done the night porter job, if this was such a difficulty? We were told we should have gone to the back entrance - news to us, We were not advise of this by the receptionist earlier and would of course have done so had that been the case. Not a good experience. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone I know. The Maritime Hotel would have been a far better option for the same price.
