    Location is incredible between river and canal. Friendly and comfortable. Excellent breakfast.

    Room was too hot so had to sleep with window open which lets in the sound of the river. Personally I liked the sound of the river but if you do not like it you would have to choose between being kept awake by the sound or close the window and be kept awake by the heat. Why not turn the heating down, make the room more comfortable, save money and save the planet!

    "Die Gegend ist schön, insbesondere wenn man weiter in die Berge fährt. Das Personal war tlw. sehr freundlich, manche etwas stur. Kaffe und Tee im Zimmer reichlich vorhanden. Auch Handtücher, Bettwäsche und Waschutensilien o.k. Das Haus ist renovierungsbedürftig. Die Lage macht einiges "wett"!" (108552895)

    Sehr schöne Lage,schöner Ausblick auch aus dem Restaurant. Zimmer überwiegend mit Balkon und direktem Blick auf den Wildfluss. Essen gut und preislich o.k.

    Wegbeschreibung im Internet stimmt nicht. Veraltete, renovierungsbedürftige Ausstattung. Wasserkocher war völlig verkalkt.

    This hotel although at first instant felt it is slightly remote, but once we settled in the view was breath taking, and hotel provided all the basic facilities. We were welcomed by friendly staff who made us feel comfortable straigh away.

    We were all booked on the different floor, did not have telephone on the room, so had to keep climbing stairs to see each other. 2nd floor twin room needed updating and all bathrooms required a decent shower system. But the view was breath taking on the 2nd floor, this may have helped some people to overlook the condition of the decor and the urine smell in the bathroom.

    clean, everything we needed was there staff were polite and helpfull, dinner was great, resturaunt had fantastic views.

    lighting in bathroom was poor, not easy for makeup aplication. carpark was not big enough for size of hotel

    The staff were very welcoming. The evening meal was very nice. It's very quiet and peaceful (a welcome change from the chaos of London!). The bedroom was very cosy.

    No pay phone given there's no mobile signal, although the reception very kindly let me use the phone to make a quick personal call. Hot water very slow to warm up. Not a bad point as such, but at breakfast no choice offered other than what was on the hotplate, i.e poached egg not available

    The radiators were permanently switched on in the first room, so moved room. The new room had obviously not been cleaned for a long time and although the radiator was switched off the pipes in the room were stil hot. The room needed to be aired and dusted.

    Friendly helpful staff, Great Location

    Decor may look a bit tired to some people, but it may be a mistake to tart it up as it may then look too flash. I liked the more homely atmosphere.

    Staff were friendly, nice location, clean, ok sized room. The starter and main course in the restaurant were cooked to perfection, with a nice view too.

    An option of just a two-course meal in the restaurant would have been good, as I was full and my dessert was horrible. Drinks quite expensive.

    fab location, same the bridge hasn't been restored

    TV didn't work when we arrived in the room, however the problem was fixed very quickly, four times in the night we were woken up by the radiator bangin which spoilt our nights sleep as we had to mess with the controls to stop it banging.

    Staff were very friendly and accommodating - happy with late check in and late return to the hotel in the evenings. Beautiful balcony on the river. Very comfortable room. Food was pleasant as were bar and restaurant.

    Beautiful views over river/steam railway. Customer Service was excellent

    Underfloor pipes made room really hot - opening doors onto balcony not possible as river outside very high and noisy. Bathroom little bit outdated/decor tired

    We were able to use the facilities of the sister hotel which was only a couple of minutes, by car, down the road. Enjoyed a delicious evening meal in the restaurant.

    Hotel was tired looking and in desperate need of a refurb.

Really helpful and friendly staff at Reception, bar and restaurant and not too over-bearing. Beautiful walks around the hotel - to the horseshoe falls one way and towards Llangollen along the towpath the other. Our room was very clean and the bed very comfortable too.     Very friendly and helpful staff; large double room with two bathrooms - shower over bath and basin in one and loo and basin in other; total privacy as room was not in main part of hotel; excellent breakfasts and evening meal superbly delicious. Very quiet and peaceful, relaxing stay.

    Hot water was not hot enough to shower. Other guests passing by bedroom window as it was on ground floor. On the Saturday night, a wedding was going on all day at the Hotel and the guests were passing by the bedroom being very noisy! Only other downside was lack of parking spaces for staying guests.

    "Lovely location, clean hotel, pleasant staff, just needs a little more tlc in some areas, would not like to stay in this hotel with young children as the canal is not fenced off as you walk out of hotel and along to car park a very worrying thing to think about." (107129295)

    Location was excellent, food was very good, staff very helpful and pleasant

    Rooms were not very big, bathroom was very dim (stronger lightbulbs may help)stairs, hall and landing was very dowdy, carpet and wallpaper clashed terribly and the hall with access to the bedrooms was very stuffy and hot needs some air going in to it, sattelite TV was advertised but consisted of ITV 2 and 3, BBC3 and 4 and one film channel(does not constitute satellite TV in my opinion)balcony was an added bonus but the paintwork on it was very bad, would have been nice to have a table on there to go with the bench.

    we were pleasntly surprised to get a suite rather than just a bedroom. Plus the balcony overlooking the rushing waters of the River Dee was a bonus and justified all the recent rain we have had. Dinner was excellent although maybe my rump of lamb could have been pinker. But this is a minor gripe. Fantastic value for money and an unrivalled location. Comfortable bed, good linen. The approach to the parking was a little confusing but added to the experience and magic of the place. Only criticism is of the wallpaper and carpet in the stairwells and corridors which is rather dated but do not be put off by this!

    when we arrived at the chainbridge hotel we found that the room had been double booked.we were told this was the fault of late bookings.com.receptionist was very helpful and arranged for us to stay at the bryn howel hotel.

    Everything was nicely laid out. Good view of the river. Warm and comfortable.

    There was a lot of scaffolding up because of refurb.

    "Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Loved its position on the river and took a lovely walk into the town along the canal which runs alongside the hotel on one side. Food was superb, staff were lovely. We were bowled over by the view from our balcony, looking over the river. Would recommend that the rooms are modernised.     Loved the location. Superb views if you get a room on the river side. Food was excellent and staff very helpful and friendly.

    Very dated decor. It was clean enough but in serious need of a refurb. It stated in our welcome folder that the hotel had nearly completed its refurb but I'm not sure what they consider a refurb to be. Our bathroom was in desperate need of updating, re-tiling, re-grouting etc.
