    Good food, good friendly service, good location

    Lack of disabled facilities made life very difficult for one of our party. Hotel could do with some improvements eg. replace creaking floorboards, install better shower systems.

    Had a very nice weekend on the isle of man, visiting many places

    closure of roads with many having no prior warning, this was due to rally car racing

    "Overall this was a very comfortable one night stay. Our evening meal in the Conservatory, with lovely views over the Bay was particularly enjoyable. Would recommend you book your table in advance. Staff were friendly and helpful. Although the decor needed up-dating in places, rooms were clean and comfortable. I didn't see a lift, so people with mobility problems should check with the Hotel before booking." (97084969)

    "took my elderly parents away for a few days they have stayed here befor in the past 4 times but it has slipped badly it needs a leader" (107478153)

    the hotel was clean staff friendly

    poor plumbing poor heating had to change room once would have been twice but the plumber come out instead. resterant service poor ,food average .

    1.The beds were lumpy creaky & uncomfortable. 2.The telvision remote did not work properly. 3.Had to leave early for the morning ferry, so mean't missing brekfast, a discount was refused & a pack lunch was provided. I asked would I collect from the cook in the morning, I was told that it would be left outside our room shortly after 9pm. We were left 2 tuna sandwiches which would never have made it to the following day without being kept refridgerated overnight. So we had to eat them straight away while they were still fresh.( NOT GOOD )

    Great location - large room, very good breakfast

    Shower didn't work properly - cold sometimes, room not cleaned as well as would have liked. A hoover or bathroom clean would have been nice.

    Friendly staff. Close to beach. Well connected to islands transport system.

    Looking a bit tired in places. Currently being redecorated, but some of the older building problems in public places (not rooms) need rectification first.

    Good food at reasonable prices for dinner/Sunday lunch and excellent choice for breakfasts. Beautiful Dining Room - a mini Versailles!!

    Entrance Hall and Reception require pepping-up, and no resident's lounge otherwise good for the age of the hotel. Poor reception on the bedroom TV.

    "We stayed four nights and the hotel quickly became our home from home. It wasn't as sophisticated as more expensive hotels but was more than adequate for our needs. 15 minute taxi ride from the airport; 55 minutes from Douglas by bus or the steam railway (we preferred the railway)."     Friendly staff; location, overlooking beach, close to steam railway, shops, post office, banks etc; quality of food; ambience.

    Wines listed on wine list not available several times and dishes on menu not available on two occasions and we only found out when we ordered them; one morning there was mould on the bread by the toaster; over booking of the restaurant - on Saturday evening there was an hour's delay for the main course.

    "The hotel is very well sited in Port Erin and the spacious private car park, although poorly surfaced, was very handy. The hotel (like much of Port Erin) has clearly seen more prosperous times and is in serious need of a cash-injection and significant refurbishment (broken and missing tiles at the main hotel entrance are a poor welcome to guests and set the tone for the accomodation within). That said, the hotel was clean and tidy for the most part. All staff were very pleasant and helpfull at all times. Food (breakfast, lunch and especially dinner) was very good. The restaurant manager and his staff were very attentive and efficient at dinner - my thanks to them especially. Dinner in the retaurant conservatory is a wonderful way to end the day. The bedroom was simple and clean. However, the en-suite bathroom contained a good deal of mould and mildew. Hotel's own website is dull and uninspiring." (97110146)

    Very good quality food and service in the restaurant at dinner.

    Lack of hot water each evening for a shower before dinner was infuriating.

    Room/bathroom very small.Very noisy.....music from bar kept us awake until early hours. the clock alarm in the (empty) room next door activated in early hours. Although not a fault of hotel it might be an item to be added to your check list as there is no-one on reception.

    Very friendly welcome by Receptionist at check in. All staff very helful.

    Not a major problem but cold water tap on wash basin was very low pressure.

    Well-organised hotel with a lively atmosphere, nicely renovated, good food carefully presented.

    The entrance to the hotel gives a poor impression - it is one of the windiest places I have ever experienced so there is not much that can be done about that. The furnishings in my room were a bit "tired" but clean.

    staff was great food was fantastic plenty of it.room view was very nice looking out to sea (room 4)the staff in the breakfast room do a wonderful job and the choice was fantastic well done

    noise traveled a bit as could hear people in corridor talking, music in the evening,other televisions,room above us noisey late on last evening as had to be up at 5.30am sounded as if moveing furniture.decor in bedroom and upstair corridors could do with redecorateing.catch you out step in the night into bathroom.

    "i thought the hotel was very much as discribed.the eating room overlooking the bay at port erin was superb the hotel bar had a very nice old classic feel to it and a good selection of real ales and whiskys,the food was also very good.i would recommend this hotel as value for money."     good location,food was to a good standard,staff very quick to smile and help but could have been more knowlegable,room clean and well serviced.

    "We might not have stayed if we had known that redecoration was in progress, but we had a comfortable 5 days stay. The reception staff were very helpful, and there was a good atmosphere in the hotel. The restaurant would benefit from a bit of thought. The waiters were willing and friendly, but relatively untrained. The food was basic, and variable in quality. Steaks were good, but the seafood was not fresh. We found the siting of the hotel very convenient, and the carpark adequate.The hotel was a short drive from Ballasalla, Ballabeg and Port St Mary, where we were meeting people." (99443480)

    The site is excellent, overlooking Port Erin bay. There is a pleasant conservatory restaurant with a good view. The room was a good size for the price, clean, and had a good size bath.

    The hotel was being redecorated, and covered in scaffolding while the walls were jet cleaned, so the windows were covered in spray and paint flakes.

    "FOOD AND STANDARD OF ACCOMMODATION GOOD, BUT EXTERNAL BUILDING WORK HAS RESULTED IN SCAFFOLDING BEING ERECETED THAT MADE ACCESS TO RECEPTION DIFFICULT AND PREVENTED THE WINDOWS OPENING IN MY BEDROOM.     Large room.

    Couldn't open the windows due to external scaffolding (could have been arranged to avoid this!) - no air conditioning so room got very hot.

    Beautiful Victoria Building, refurbished large room. Very comfortable.

    The walk from the reception to my room which was room no 14. Reported lightbulb out and was never repaired.
