    We stayed for 3 nights. The room was not serviced after night one. After night two the room was serviced but we were provided with wet fresh towels. Perhaps most alarmingly the fire alarm went off at 6.30 am Sunday morning. Guests evacuated the hotel despite no staff being present to assist the many elderly people who were left bewildered and confused by the situation. The hotel although claiming to having been refurbished was shaby, with many dining room chairs showing signs of rust. Residents could not use the bar one evening as it was booked for a private function.

    WELCOMING, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF THROUGHOUT THE HOTEL. ROOM WITH SEA VIEW AND AS DESCRIBED ON WEBSITE. VERY GOOD BATHROOM.

    CARPET ON STAIRS AND LANDING VERY DIRTY AND GIVES BAD IMPRESSION. LIFT VERY SMALL. BEDS NOT MADE PROPERLY ON SECOND DAY AND CLEAN CUPS NOT PROVIDED.

    The hotel had a nice bright airiness about it and the quality of the furnishings was good.

    Most of the breakfast staff in the restaurant were not as attentive as they could have been. We had to find a member of the staff just to get some coffee instead of being asked automatically. This was consistent on both mornings. Other hotels ask your preference and leave a jug of tea or coffee. Staff should be trained to be attentive and polite. The carpets throughout the hotel had many stains which gave a very poor impression and greatly diminished the overall appearance. Stains should be removed immediately. A bottle of water and a pencil for guests in the rooms would be a welcome touch that wouuld not cost much. I had to buy both as I had forgotten to bring a pen.

    "Overall the hotel is not bad, we probably went at a time off peak and that is why we felt "underage" with all the older daytrippers. The hotel could spend a few £££ on carpet etc and would make a massive improvment to guests" (107749274)

    1 Really dirty carpet on stairs and corridors 2 Seemed to cater for OAP's more than young couples 3 Room was at rear were the extract fan for the kitchens seemed to run all night 4 Room was very warm at night and widows wouldn't open wide (just as well given item 3) 5 No iron, shower cap in room

    Roopm large and nicely appointed but very remotely located through a series of halls, fire doors etc. The meals were value for money and the toiletries very nice.

    Some of the staff less than helpful and one day my room wasn't cleaned by nearly 400pm though I had left the hotel early and left the ROOM TO BE CLEANED sign on the door. The reception staff, young ladies were too busy talking on private phone calls & talking about their clothes etc to care. Some of the staff had no idea of things happening in the IOM which was disappointing . Also found the halls very dirty and dirty linen was there at all hopurs of the day. Some staff in dining room could not communicate very well English being their second languauge.

    Leaving

    First room was so noisy we asked to be moved. Second room was still noisy so had to keep all windows closed. Noise came from kitchen fan under the hotel control but never switched off when it should have been and always switched on very early. Bathroom taps leaking hot water all the time. Maid service erratic and poor. Ate once in the restaurant in the evening - never again. Like a works canteen.

    Nice breakfast, helpful staff.

    Poor cleaning in corridors. Stair carpet next to lift on ground floor is torn and dirty. Dreadful noise outside our room from kitchen extractor fan from early to late. Dreary reception area, needs a revamp. The two person lift is too small.

    Food was excelent and service was very good both in the dining room and throughout the hotel.

    The only thing i noticed was that the carpets throughout the hotel were a bit shabby and could do with replacing

    "Enjoyed my stay, breakfast staff friendly and attentive, real rubber eggs unfortunately and I was first down !! Cheap catering sausages, ( I used to manufacture sausages for the East Coast fishing fleets and they were also poor quality ) but who am I to complain..... I got a bargin room, clean and for absolutely nil cost ( £40) , for me excellent value for money ..but then I am a mean hotelier. Glad to have been able to give you a serious feedback.     Rooms and bathroom were in very good order and very clean the staff in the dinning room and Reception were friendly and helpful

    The carpets in the landings and the dining room were really dirty and this took away from the good points of the hotel To pay almost £20.00 for dinner in dinning room with carpets like that is just not on

    We were moved to a different hotel within the same group and the comments relate to the Claremont Hotel. Convenient location on the seafront, good,comfortable room. hotel staff very good, breakfast excellent in choice and quality.

    Smokers standing by the front door of the hotel oblivious to others trying to get in or out of the hotel.

    Actually we booked for Rutland hotel and when we went for check-in they have transferred us to a different group hotel. There could have been a earlier communication with this regard so that we might have gone straight to the transferred hotel.

    Dirty hotel,brick dust on the floor, food on the floor in the lift for the whole of our stay, carpets filthy with ingrained black gunge !! to say it had only just opened for the season, one would expect it to be spotless. Laundry left in corridors. Old telephones left in corridor. Room not cleaned 1 morning. Appeared to not be enough staff,were informed by staff they had been deployed from another hotel on the saturday to make up rooms as influx of guests were due. Huge cobwebs in bathroom. Bed base broke. Breakfast cold, not a varied choice. Loose cables running along restaurant floor, near were you made toast. Fire doors wedged open, even though they had stickers on them to say they should be shut. Restaurant not open for evening meals.

    "Very comfortable, well presented hotel, (except for previous statement regarding stained carpet). Excellent food, staff were professional and polite." (107754096)

    Food was excellent, room was very comfortable, and staff were courteous and well presented.

    Two bad points, the carpet was heavily stained in an otherwise great room. Because I was not paying using a credit/debit card I felt that I was a second class citizen when paying by cash only.

    The room was clean, breakfast was reasonable although cramped conditions in the dining room were uncomfortable.

    The room had no outlook, brick wall next door, corridors narrow and several steps along the way,dining room crammed.

    It was fantastic we really enjoyed it.

    My jacket was lost in the hotel when it was due to go to the dry cleaners but I received compensation. We were also asked to move our meal slot as the restaurant was overbooked, we received a complimentary drink.

    Spacious rooms with good facilities,good breakfast and pleasant staff.Good bathroom size too.

    Room too noisy - too near lift so slept badly. Hotel too hot but could not keep windows open as air conditioning/restaurant extracter made too much noise.Better insulation against noise would be recommended.

    Very good value. Excellent buffet dinner and breakfast. Good location.

    Hotel generally very hot. No ventilation in rooms without opening windows which then meant significant noise. Lift very small, max 2 people and 1 case

    The rooms were very spacious, bathroom very clean.

    The television in the room had only three stations which was of poor quality. The carpet on the stairs to the rooms was absolutely filthy. The beer in the bar was very bad and they had little or no shorts if you werent a beer person.

    "The elevator was so tiny it barely fitted 2 people in. The literature at the hotel stated 24 hour room service yet on arrival after 10 pm we were told this did not exist and therefore were unable to get even a sandwich. Despite being an executive suite there was no fridge in the room so cold drinks were out of the question. Our departure was early morning and the hotel would not facilitate even continental breakfast. Overall for the price it was somewhat disappointing!" (97941183)

    The room was bright and airy and had a great view of the bay.

    The shower leaked which we reported but nothing was done about it.

    Great location and great view.

    Poor restaurant and noisy on first floor. Cleaning staff tried to enter room at 8am, which I was not too happy about.

    I thought the hotel room was very spacious and comfortable. Cost of accomodation was great value for money and included a full breakfast (very good buffet selection). Reception staff very obliging and helpful providing tourist info i.e times of trains etc.

    The toilet cistern was not working probably and was noisy. Extractor fan on outside of building came on early in morning and was also noisy , so had to sleep with windows closed.

    Modern but in keeping with the heritage of the building

    Narrow stairway and small lift - pleased it was not very hot, as there was no air circulating.
