    In a self catering apartment which was part of hotel. There was a lot of space. Check in was easy and we were shown to our apartment. The restaurant served superb food and the service was attentive and excellent.

    Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'accueil et la localisation de l'hôtel (côte sud de Guernesey).Le personnel était très attentif à notre bien être, le breakfast excellent et varié. La chambre assez spacieuse, bien équipée et lumineuse. Nous sommes venus en voiture ce qui à facilité l'accès et les visites. De l'hôtel possibilité de superbes promenades sur les falaises (plage à proximité)

    "A very pleasant hotel with excellent staff who without exception were attentive, helpful, considerate. The food was of a high quality with the exception of breakfast which, apart from the kippers, was really rather ordinary. Cheap marmalade in little plastic pots was a particular irritant and totally out of keeping with the standard of food served for lunch and dinner. Also the breakfast portions of bacon, tomato etc were small. Presumably because the restaurant attracts a large volume of outside business, the availability of tables for residents was poor even at more than 24 + hours' notice. Half board residents, which we were not, appeared to be protected from this problem. The system, not the staff, seemed to treat Bed and Breakfast only residents as second class citizens even though we were staying for a fortnight. The bedroom was small but perfectly acceptable although there are largere suites available at extra cost which would be much better for a stay of more than a few days. The car park was adequate but parking was hampered by what appeared to be staff members' cars parked outside the designated areas which rendered manouevring unnecessarily difficult even in a small car. Overall the hotel was good value for money and the staff should be highly commended. We might stay at this hotel again but the poot quality of the breakfast is certainly a deterrent. " (107793543)

    Very accomodating when we checked in early. Food (including breakfast) was delicious. Very handy for bus and coast walks(bus stop: Saints corner Route 6A) Lovely clean pool. Good deal for main meals in the evening between 6pm and 7pm

    Restaurant good but slightly pricey for evening meals and you NEED to book a table a couple of days in advance. In one room shower was difficult to adjust temperature and weak pressure - but other room OK.

    Accommodation and facilities were excellent for our purposes - elderly mother and two daughters.

    Unfortunately there was only upstairs appartments available (we should have requested ground floor when booking).

    The apartment was very spacios, well equipped and very comfortable

    Only minor complaint was noisy people in next apartment, but they may have said the same about us. perhaps better sound proofing should be considered

    hotel appeared to be efficiently run and very attractive with all the summer bedding plants

    mealtimes seemed short and also no food available after 2pm - until dinner - a little disturbing after a long journey when you are tired and hungry.

    "From the time we set foot in La Barbarie Hotel until the time we left, the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. Our room was spotlessly clean. The restaurant was superb and the service was excellent. If we return to Guernsey, we would use La Barbarie again." (97257464)

    The staff were very helpful and polite. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts & dinners were absolutely mouthwatering. The area was nice and peaceful. The hotel was very good value for the money we paid.

    FRIENDLY AND HELPFULL STAFF,AND THE HOTEL IS IN A PEACEFULL LOCATION A REASONABLE DISTANCE FROM THE AIRPORT.

    WE HAD TO BOOK A TABLE VERY EARLY FOR THE RESTAURANT BECAUSE OF ITS POPULARITY AND GOOD FOOD.

    "The hotel was lovely, quiet and clean, and all the staff helpful, efficient and courteous. Breakfast was superb, and the other meals which we had were also very nice. I would definitely like to stay at this hotel again. The two slight disappointments were that the pool was covered when we got there and stayed covered until the day we were due to leave. I had hoped to have a swim but assumed that the pool was covered as it was late in the season. I was also a bit disappointed with the view from our room as it overlooked a small yard and flat roof , but we had only booked a few weeks before so perhaps our room was one of the last to be allocated. Some of the rooms had balconies and better views. Sometimes we found it difficult to park as there were so many cars in the car park.(I think this reflected the Hotel's popularity)." (97970742)

    Our room was lovely and clean with a huge bed, at least a kingsize, food was lovely.

    Our view from the window was disappointing we overlooked a very small yard and a flat roof.

    "The village location of 'La Barbarie' ensured a homely and welcoming atmosphere. The lack of 'in house entertainment' was particularly appealing. Although children were thoughtfully cartered for it was most definitely a hotel for grown ups! The food was a real treat, we didn't know that it had received accolades from the likes of Rick Stein when we booked but had to agree with his comments regarding the lobster!     Comfy beds with white linen, a super, probably, newly refurbished bathroom. Cleaned and cared for promptly every day.

    "On your information it said we would beable to book a table for a meal in your restaurant. Each evening you were fully booked so that was not possible for us. You do advertise on your board outside that you are open to non residents and although we were self catering I felt we were residents and was disappionted we couldn't have just one evening meal with you. Otherwise we were very pleased with the overall accommodation and peaceful area. Bus service was wonderful and no need for a car to get about on the Island." (3304585066)

    Although it was self catering it would have been welcoming if there were complimentary milk, teabags, sugar and coffee on arrival.

    "I would have liked to have known that this property was not in any way rural. I would have liked to have known that some of the appartments were dark inside. I would have liked to have known that some of the furnishings were not of the same standard as is portrayed on their website. This should not detract from the fact the staff were all very helpful and nice, although to be very honest we did not really have much need of their services as we only ate one meal in the hotel."     The fact that it had a pool, size of our appartment was good.

    Our accommodation looked and felt very tired - it was also quite dark. It was not particularly inviting nor did it feel very comfortable. Although we had good space we felt that it was not representative of the pictures on the website which was rather disappointing. Also the hotel is surrounded by houses and was much smaller than we had imagined - yet again evidence of how photographs can be very misleading!

    "The only thing I would have liked to have known was the distance from the hotel for other restaurants should we have felt like a change, the only other thing was the early finish to the excellent bus service during peak summer months. The day trip to Herm was really special, the weather smiled on us also which helped for the time we were there. The other place of note was the Terrace in St Peter Port for excellent food served fast. All in all as the Eagles song goes, the Hotel and Island gave us a peaceful easy feeling...." (3304149563)

    Very well kept and pretty hotel away from the main part of the island but close enough to get around via the bus route. Excellent staff and restaurant

    Staff were very pleasant. The power shower was great and we slept well as the mattress was so comfortable.

    The room was on the ground floor next to the entrance to the hotel so it was noisy in the evening and we were woken up a few times. Also the floorboards above creaked rather a lot.

    Comortable, clean and tidy. Staff very helpfull

    Aircraft noise could be a bit annoying dependant on wind and time of day. Building site just accross road that started at 7.30 every morning with digger or lorries. Could not blame hotel for this though, we were just unlucky.

    Room was a little cramped as the bed was two singles pushed together. This made the bed a bit large for the bedroom.

    "This hotel has one of the best restaurants on the island, so book in advance if you wish to eat in on your first night. It is in the parish of St Martins, a lovely part of the island close to several small bays which are both pretty and within walking distance. Most can be accessed by car too. The parish of St Martins has a large supermarket for those who are self-catering, and is only a two mile walk into the main town of St Peter Port, with its many shops and eating places. There are several attractive routes, including taking the cliff paths or perhaps the Hubits." (3304159504)

    "I would recommend this accomodation to anyone wishing a quiet break in a luxurious environment. The facilities are first class, and the hotel offers a decent bar and restaurant/snack facility. Guernsey is the perfect place to unwind and as a solo traveller I felt completely safe at all times. The bus service is great and the beaches are fantastic.     The dining room was excellent and service very good. Food could not be faulted.

    Bedroom furniture a bit tired. I nearly cancelled this booking as I was asked to pay in advance as a solo guest staying only one night.
