    "I am likely to be staying in Fareham frequently in future, and would use the Hotel again, but not room 9. Had room at discounted rate of £55 so did not complain, however would have not been satisfied with the standard had I paid normal room rate." (108720093)

    Clean comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, food and breakfast service very good, secure parking a very good feature. General ambience of hotel was fine.

    Room 9 - Bathroom extractor fan extremely noisy, room lighting very poor, especially for reading. Lamp over dressing table did not work. Bedside lamp fitting loose and dangerous. TV had only two watchable channels, neither news channels.

    Food in hotel was surprisngly good and very good value. Breakfast was excellent. In very good location, not far from motorway with some nice bars and restaraunts if you want that sort of thing.

    Room was a bid dowdy and dated. But saying that was very clean.

    Room clean and functional.Staff reasonably efficient. Staff in bar and restaurant were especially friendly and efficient.

    Room was a little dark. Could have benefitted from an extra, brighter light, particularly for reading.

    the hotel accomadation was excellent position of hotel good food also good

    only bad point when returning to hotel just after midnight unable to purchase a drink usually night porter in other hotels we have used gets you a drink charges it to your room and you can take up for a nught cap

    Just one thing. The main lights in our room (21) were very poor. Very hot weather, air conditioning would be nice.

    Very friendly staff,nothing to much trouble for them and they were always helpful. Clean rooms, very good breakfast.

    The rooms are quite large but the beds could have been bigger.

    Despite radiators being off the room was very hot due to all the unlagged hot water pipes running through the room and in particular the wardrobe was so hot waterpipes burnt a hole in my suit bag

    The room was very clean and warm and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very well done and we enjoyed our full english breakfast.

    The juices at the table were not labelled and if staff are gone to the kitchen its easy for guests to pour the juice which looked like pear and turned out the be grapefruit. Not a train smash and we dont mind either although others may waste it.

    "Overall we were very happy with our stay and my partner and myself are seriously considering a return visit with family members for at least a long weekend later in the year perhaps around August time. i thought your websight was very informative and the directions given were helpful,all information given was accurate and although I looked at several hotels in the Portsmouth area it was The Red Lion that appealed the most. All the staff should be complimented on the friendly and efficient service provided" (97486726)

    The room was very clean and the bed comfortable, the hotel overall was extremely good and the staff friendly

    My only complaint would be that the residents bar stayed open until midnight but from 11.30 was unstaffed, when I went to search out someone to ask for a final drink at midnight the porter had to ask for permission to serve me. Although i was served i would have been very annoyed if the answer had been negative, perhaps it would be more customer friendly to have the bar staffed during this period

    Clean

    poor quality of food from menu - breakfast fine. Very noisy room due to location. The room I was given was over the bar/restaurant - which should be the last room they give out. Had to move rooms at midnight as could not sleep. Empty room was fine and of better standard and quiet. When complained about the food in restaurant not really concerned - but did not charge for later. TV in room was also poor quality - four basic channels - no channel 5 or sky as advertised.

    It was spacious, the staff was friendly and helpful even though I arrived around midnight. Very good facilities.
