    Charming hotel ,well located, parking facilities a real plus. Helpful staff.

    breakfast and breakfast room looked nice and inviting but just too expensive to take advantage of when you can walk 5 min and get a coffee and croisant at the local patisserie for half the price.

    great location and nice room and easy parking (this is very important given the location).

    the pool was not open and they had notices up not to "picnic" in the room or garden - no food or drink. we sometimes like to have a glass of wine in the evening before going out so we did not like this. breakfast was very expensive - $13 euros per person. we ended up going down the street and having breakfast of croissants and coffee for a total of 7 euros for two.

    Beautiful house and garden, imaginatively and restfully decorated room, very comfortable bed and linen

    Lovely bathroom and fittings but the shower was difficult to operate and wasteful of water (we could only get the shower attachment to work with water still coming at full force from the tap).

    "We had a very comfortable stay here. The room was air-conditioned and most of the road noise was blocked out when the window was closed, otherwise very noisy. It was very clean. The building was a former chateau and there was a beautiful garden and pool in the back where it was quiet and peaceful. I felt like I was in the lap of luxury." (99155456)

    "On departure I congratulated the staff as they have a wonderful hotel and that we would be informing our travel agent and friends on our return home to Australia. the ambience is very good considering its in the centre of town. The garden setting is restfull to the weary traveller. We certainly have no problems recomending this hotel to anyone travelling to the Loire.     Inadequater and very tight parking. No breakfast available until 8.00 am. Gates to the road shut at 11.00 pm at night but not open until 9.00am in the morning. This was very inconvenient!

There are a few gastronomy restaurants in other hotels and good places in town, otherwise you will find typical brasseries.     The hotel was perfectly situated in the center of town within walking distance to the Chateau Amboise. The hotel was in a beautifully renovated grand maison with a huge wall all around the premises, with a beautiful garden and even a pool. The staff was friendly and accomodating, and the breakfast was worth the price (

    "Wonderful little oasis. Our room was not large, but very comfortable, and the charm of the property more than compensated for this. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. Although service appeared to be available in english, they were more than willing to tolerate our less than great french, and we very much enjoyed being able to interact in french with them. Our next visit to the Loire will include a return to Le Clos D'amboise. Our only regret on this trip was in not planing to stay there longer." (99549936)

    Absolutely charming, quaint, beautiful, and very comfortable.

    No complaints at all. The Le Clos D'amboise is a little treasure in the heart of a wonderful Loire village.

    "A wonderful, extremely comfortable base to visit the chateaux of the Loire valley. Ten minute walk (at most) to plenty of restaurants and bars. We would have appreciated a more formal bar for a drink before setting off for our evening meal. Off street parking was a very useful bonus.     "Lovely old building and grounds. Shame it couldn't have been more sympathetically converted. And if the French ever wanted to make their own version of Fawlty Towers, they should use this place.     "The staff were very friendly at all times, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, access in & out of the drive was not very easy, any one with a large vehicle would need to be very careful to avoid scrapes.     "The man who checked us in and the woman who is the owner were simply wonderful, friendly people. They made us feel welcome at all times. The maid was lovely. Our room was spotlessly clean every day. We would love to go back. It was a perfect place to stay for exploring the Loire Valley. We found many gourmet restaurants in, and around, Amboise. This was one of the most relaxing week long stays we've ever had, and a lot of it was due to this nice place to stay and the friendly citizens of Amboise." (3304223187)

    Everything, this is a very nice place to spend a night or a week. The rooms are spacious and clean. The gardens and back yard are beautiful. Most of the people who work here are friendly and helpful. There is a nice restaurant across the street.

    When we checked in we were told to use a code to enter the gate at night is we arrived after 11:00 pm. Two nights later we arrived at 10:15 pm, only to have the man in charge yelling at us for driving into the parking lot after nine. I am sure his voice woke up everyone in the place. The rule was not a problem for us once we knew about it. This man was all worked up and quite unpleasant, so this did put a bit of a damper on us for a day or so. I am not sure if he was an owner or an employee.

    "The Clos d'Amboise was a great home base for our chateau adventure. Castles such as Chenonceau, Cheverny, and Chambord were an easy distance by car. However, if you arrive by train, you can also sign up for a chateau van-tour, at the nearby Tourist Info Office. The proprietors were friendly and the rooms were clean and modern. Everything looked newly remodeled. The bathrooms were spacious and there was pleanty of water pressure and room to move around in the shower. Breakfast, in a warmly decorated salon with chocolat colored leather chairs, was a serve-yourself buffet featuring: ham and cheese, breads and croissants, coffee and teas, warm milk and yoghurts. The owner made sure everything stayed stocked and warm; the cost was 10 euros/person. Wonderful hotel at a great price." (3304245236)

    "Old townhouse hotel situated on the outskirts of Amboise..ideal location. Quiet but central with lovely gardens and swimming pool (which would be great in the summer- it was about zero degrees when we were there!) Ideal for visiting the Chateau, walking into town etc. Hotel room was gorgeous and very spacious (we stayed in a Confort room)- Four poster bed, squashy carpet, lovely furnishings, mini bar- didn't want to leave it really! One tip if going to Amboise out of season, the restaurants all stop serving by about 9pm so best to make an early start to the evening! Highly recommend this hotel for a romantic weekend..."
