    PUT IN WHAT YOU WOULD CALL A SHACK .NOT CLEANED WHEN WE ARRIVED AT 1 OOPM .BATHROOM FILTHY EVEN WHEN SUPPOSED TO BE CLEANED TELLY NOT WORKING PROPERLY .I HAD A GIRL OF 12YRS OLD SHE WAS TERRIFIED WE WERE BESIDE THE ROAD AND THE WINDOW CATCH WAS BROKEN I HAD TO SLEEP WITH HER IN SINGLE BED

    "Lots of night noise from wedding. As with most UK hotels and B&Bs the tradition of carpets all over the place gives a messy impression. The English breakfast toasts are just plain awfull - the worst bread in Western Europe." (108383598)

    Nice location, easy access with car and we appriciated the private parking facilities

    Breakfast staff looked and behaved like a hanged cat. We got the room with a discount which is the basis of the "Fair" assesment of price vs quality. At "normal rate" it is way overpriced from my experience with hotel prices in other countries. But since I have limited experience with hotels i major UK cities it might not be overpriced compared to other hotels in the UK. Accomodation is just expensive compared to quality in the UK.

    - only a few kms to walk to city centre - close to public transportation

    - they didn't clean my room between nights or change the towels - noise from other rooms and from a party downstairs were a bit distracting - breakfast was pretty weak

    (1) Room had recently been redecorated and new carpets layed. (2) Friendly and helpful reception staff. (3) Convenient to bus routes.

    (1) Room only had 1 power point. (2) Continental breakfast sub standard. (3) Confusing address of the Hotel.

    Had rooms available in a very busy period. Close to bus routes into town.

    Lock on the door did not work! Very cold room. TV reception poor. Loud guests.

    Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was centrally located.

    Room in much need of refurbishment but okay for an overnight stay and purpose of visit. Carpet and bathroom not very clean.

    "this was one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in.If you were early for breakfast then you got yogurt and fruit but if later then there wasn't much left and we had to ask for milk, sugar jam etc. We complained about no plug, wet towels etc and we were told that when the manager got there he would talk to us by the time we had checked out we still had not seen the manager, we were promised the manager would phone us but we are still waiting.     no plug in the sink so my husband could not have a shave.On the booking information it said full scottish breakfast this turned out to be cereal and toast.Our beds did not get made. Tea and coffee were not replenished. Towels folded up to look like cleans towels but were wet.

    everyone was friendly and plesant

    the web site said it was a full scottish breakfast, it was not. we got a knock at the door to tell us it was 10 am, on the web site it said check out was 10.30 am.

    "If in future you have to re-route your guests because of double booking then I suggest you check out the accommodation you send them to and make sure the Guest House is up to standard" (97052320)

    We were re-routed to Cameron Guest House as you were double booked for our stay - there was nothing to like about any of it.

    Poor quality accommodation - no towel rail in bathroom - no hook for clothes - shaving light didn't work - bed remained unmade during our stay - cobwebs on bedroom ceiling and expelair fan in bathroom heavily contaminated - no one around for breakfast first morning 20 minutes into breakfast time - fruit on breakfast table only provided on 2nd morning and bananas were very over-ripe. All in all a very disappointing experience which we will not be repeating....

    the hotel folks only provided very less tea and coffee bags and sugar... which ran out frequently.... The phones in the rooms does not have the option to use Calling Cards.

    "I found this hotel excellent, great staff, nice area, and was very easily accessible. The only bad thing was that our room was right next to the dining area, and were woken up by the chef singing, but then we didnt miss breakfast.     Staff were extremley helpful, breakfast was excellent, bus service stopped right outside, Shop nearby, 25 minute walk into town.

    "The Hotel was just what i required for my visit. Reasonable price, nice breakfast and close to where i wanted to be.The staff were very helpful." (97238658)

    The room was clean and tidy and the coffee/tea facilities were most welcome.It was close to all shops/pubs.

    "The staff were friendly and welcoming, but we should have been concerned when we were asked to pay for the room before seeing it. The standard of the accomodation was poor. Our room had a strange smell, the bed was uncomfortable, and there was a hole in the ceiling. It served as an overnight stop, but I would not stay there again." (99207236)

    Plenty of off-street and on-street parking. Pleasant position opposite a park (not a golf course). Plenty of tourist information in lobby.

    No opening window; Black and white TV; Kettle but no mugs, tea, coffee, milk etc; No hooks for towels in en suite bathroom; Stains on sofa upholstery; Old mattress on 4-ft bed acting as a double bed; understaffed breakfast room, clients had to fetch items from kitchen and take toast from other tables, due to understaffing, and unable to cope with work overload.

    "The location to edinburgh town centre was excellent just a 20 minute walk and with the bus stopping right outside the hotel. The actual location was lovely facing a nice park which is lovely in the summer." (99296451)

    "The hotel needs to be completely refurbished. The annexe room where we were accommodated was claustrophobic and poorly decorated.The en-suite facility badly needed upgrading and neither bathmat or hand towels were provided. The reception on the television was poor. The bulb in the bedside lamp had blown and had not been replaced. Although there was coffee making facilities only two sachets of coffee had been left.Overall this was not a good experience and was not good value for money" (99628725)

    absolutely nothing. On arrival at the hotel all the windows in our room were wide open (It was throwing it down with rain and windy)However the reason for this was the distinct smell of gas. Which we complained about and was told they realised there was a smell but didnt know where it was coming from.

    Friendly helpful staff, but hotel run down desperatly in need of modernisation, food fine, location fine.

    Location was good, and being able to park outside the hotel in central Edinburgh was excellent. Price was good for location and parking.

    The decor was jumble sale. The finishing was poor (especially the grouting on the bathroom floor!). The room smelled - possibly of damp although it was top floor. There was one single small hand towel provided for two people overnight. The shower worked - but only just.

    "i felt the service was poor, my husband and i had one towel between us and asked for another which we did not get.to be given a room right off the dining area was terrible and when i refused to stay in that room the response was, in my oppinion, just another complaint to which im sure you have had many and the only room available was tiny with two single beds.the breakfast was a joke and dissgusting which we did not eat, the service was a bit better than the breakfast . your hotel does not give any value for mony, its the bare minimum cutting costs from not giving a bar of soap to an extremely bad breakfast , you certainly do not represent scotland."     "The room etc were fine but seemed a little expensive for fairly basic accommodation.( Due I suppose to the time of stay, bank holiday, festival time.)As mentioned above it was impossible to get cold water out of the cold tap, after running for ages it changed from scalding hot to aired but no colder. The noise outside the hotel (just under our room ) was horrendous on the sat night well into the small hours. whether this was due to overspill/ smoking parties from the function room downstairs or from local drunks using the park across the road I'm not sure.
