    Staff were excellent

    Breakfast was a shambles. You would do better to simply provide a buffet service for the meals.

    Overall it met our expectations.

    No one at reception at times, particularly evenings. This also applied to valet service.

    "The staff were extremely helpful and polite, the concierge couldn't do enough for us. The shuttle to the Carrick was handy so we could enjoy a glass of wine or two." (97184724)

    The rooms were very luxurious and clean, bed very comfortable

    Hairdryer had a short lead so was difficult to use in front of mirror as it didn't stretch far enough.

    "Overall Cameron House is lovely. We received a very warm welcome. Like I say, the only thing letting it down was the room. We booked a standard double room, which was very basic, although we did expect this. What we didn't expect was dampness above the radiator on the wall and the wallpaper all marked in the corners. We just felt that the room could be doing with being updated a little. The windows had damp around the edges as did the bath and shower area. Don't get me wrong, apart from this, the room was spotless. Linen crisp white and very tasteful. Despite these little setbacks, I would definately go back to the hotel." (99025319)

    The hotel was lovely, staff very friendly, food excellent. Overall we did have a great weekend.

    We felt the only thing letting the hotel down was the room itself. We felt it was in need of updating.

    "I found the booking service efficient and effective but was very disappointed with my stay in this hotel. I spent a long time considering a variety of accomodation for a special overnight stay and was expecting something along those lines when booking a night in 5-star accomodation. Our bed was broken in our first bedroom but we were moved with no problems by the staff- who were friendly and helpful at all times during our stay. Our second bedroom was even smaller than the first...with a very close up view of two bushes and nil else from the window! When staying at the edge of Loch Lomond I would have liked the hint of a view of the Loch! The chairs and cushions in the bedroom were covered in stains, as were the bathrobes. There were lots of activites availble for purchase through the hotel leisure services, but we did not try any as we were only there for the night. We did not dine at the restaurant that evening due to prior recommendations to dine outwith the hotel. We had two drinks at the bar on return and went to our room due to the complete lack of atmosphere in the main lounge. In the morning we went for breakfast at 9.30 and were very disappointed and to be honest, a bit shocked at the standard of food being served...definately had been sitting out since the start of breakfast, and after two spoonfuls of the cooked breakfast my partner and I both were completely put off. On the whole I was so disappointed with my stay- I had booked a surprise night away in a special hotel and experienced nothing near this. I felt I had paid &200 for, in some cases what felt like 3/4 star standards of accomodation. I will not be recommending this hotel to my friends/ family." (3305110684)

    "The hotel has an old fashioned feeling of splendour. The restaurant service including breakfast was excellent. The leisure activities are varied if a little expensive. We did the hawk walk,which consisted of accompanying a falconer and his Harris,s hawk around the grounds and having the bird land on your arm...great. Thouroughly recommend the hotel." (3304954662)

    There is a warm and friendly feeling from the staff,and sourroundings.The grounds and position of the hotel are wonderful,peaceful and scenic.

    Very little,did notice a little dust on the lampshades.

    "Only stayed for two nights but we would have been happy to stay for longer. Use made of excellent pool, sauna etcetera. An excellent location for a leisure break or as part of a short tour of Scotland which we made. Staff very good, particularly the welcoming door-men." (3304810647)

    This is a very comfortable, well positioned hotel, very welcoming and we would use it again.

    "I would recommended Active hotels in terms of efficiency and price. My husband and I enjoy fine dining, however I was overwhelmed by both the menu and cost at the Georgian restaurant (which is closed on Monday and Tuesday evenings). The Georgian Restaurant has 3 AA rosettes: we asked staff if there was a restaurant in the vicinity with one or two AA rosettes and were advised there was not when in fact the Lodge on Loch Lomond which is less than 10 miles away has been awarded this accolade three years running(and offers an excellent three course menu for £24.95). We therefore ate at the hotel's Smollocks restaurant on our first evening which was good but significantly overpriced. The service by staff at the Smollocks restaurant both at breakfast and dinner was excellent, as was that of the hotel door staff." (2714237)

    The location was very good. The hotel had fairly extensive grounds which permitted you to sit by the Loch-side and enjoy the scenery.

    The house-keeping in the hotel was somewhat less than 5 star: the vallance was literally coming apart at the seams, the filling was hanging out of the duvet, and over-all cleanliness could be much improved.

    It was a very luxious break, and children were welcome and well accommodated. Food was excellent for both adults and children.

    "The catering and bar staff were superb in their efforts to please. The chef in particular deserves congratulations for the Gourmet Meal, this was certainly the highlight of our stay. On our arrival at the Hotel our 'short break' was definately enhanced by the friendly and attentive welcome of the delightful consierge. It was such a pleasure to be greeted by him. I feel that the information we were presented with prior to our visit was quite comprehensive." (2630385)

    Our accomodation was adequate and the view over the Loch was beautiful, we were, however disappointed that the upgrade room we were offered did not transpire.

    Improvements to the cleaning within the bedroom, the bathroom was spotless and well presented. General facilities in the Hotel were very good

    "Great setting on loch, easy to get there. Imposing drive and entrance. We dined in the marina restaurant, which was really very good, with excellent views from tables. The breakfast in main hotel was just average, would have expected all food cooked to order, as it was we got a tried looking buffet, cold toast. As a result we asked for freshly poached eggs which were very good." (2267698)

    "The only problem occurred, when we went into the drawing room for coffee and the sofas next to the fire were reserved for people who had gone for dinner. It was then 10 15 and it would appear that consequently no one had been able to use these sofas for several hours which seemed totally unacceptable to me. I complained but was fobbed off by the french gentleman responsible and submitted my observations on their own comments sheet and am awaiting the hotels reply." (1858705)

    "I am glad I was able to obtain this hotel from Active Hotels at rates which were approximately 50% less than any other hotel and holiday provider that I have precviously used or indeed any who's sites I have previously interrogated. The outstanding feature was the friendliness of all the staff and their attempts to please. I have since spoken to people who have known about this hotel but have never visited it because of the advertised cost. They all now have your website details. Many Thanks" (1781545)
