    Spacious chalets, good breakfast.

    The velux window is too high to open and during the summer you need some air.

    Large and spacious rooms : very good breakfast : lovely grounds to sit in and enjoy.

    Paucity of staff on duty : bar advertised to 11.00pm , we arrived at 1030 pm to find it already shut . Small basic maintenance needed in bathroom.

    "It would be beneficial to let the customer know that the cottage/chalet has a kitchen, as they can stock up on essentials on route if need be and then they could take advantage of the facilities available, especially if they should have young children!" (107829496)

    Staff went out of their way to be helpful especially as we arrived for a wedding before the normal access to room time. They got the room ready early for us.

    warm welcome,O.K. breakfast.

    Bedroom had no heating (-1 degrees) froze my nuts off all night!! Xmas party (ASDA) going on til very late,noise and doors banging until after 2.30a.m.

    Staff very friendly & helpful. Our family joined us for Sunday lunch there - fabulous. Like a home-cooked Sunday roast.

    Rear & side of premises untidy and spolis the otherwise good impression.

    room was clean, warm and attractive. Breakfast was good. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Close to centre of Cardiff but outlook over fields.Everything was clean and working.

    Not enough towels, or tea and coffee drinks in bedroom. Cheap soap dispensers instead of usual hotel mini pack of soap, shampoo etc.in bathroom.

    I found the hotel on Yel.com. Very clean Healpful staff. In expencive. Shallys were spacush and nicly funishe. I will stay their again next time I go on eather Wavely or Balmoral from Penarth.

    The only bad pinnt was the shower, although it was an exelant shower. It did run cool after three minutes or so. However after yo had turned it off for 2 minutes or so it did come hot agaihn for a little tim. A part from that it was a great shower. It does need a curtan in sted of a screen, to make shore you don't get any water on the flore.

    "Chalet rooms were clean,quiet and modern with a nice outlook.Shower was hot and powerful.The breakfast was simple but well cooked and plentiful. " (107279327)

    Very big clean room with crisp white bedding.Breakfast was well cooked and served by friendly staff.

    No ventilation in bedroom.Room was warm but a little stuffy.A proper bath mat would have been more absorbent that the paper one in the bathroom.A larger well lit mirror would have been useful.

    "Disappointing and expensive for the chalet we were allocated.Very dim lighting in bathroom.Soap dispenser took up so much room by shower you had to stand sideways to avoid bumping into the shower screen.Huge tap over basin,coudn't bend down to wash your face." (107123439)

    Brusque on arrival. Allocated a chalet rather than a room in the main house. No parking slot,we had to walk and drive past rubbish bins.Lights fused.No loo roll holder. Paper bath mat. Kettle wouldn't connect.Earring found in bed.

    "I made a booking for 2/8/07 which was accepted by the website but received a call the morning after I booked to say the booking was erroneous as the Hotel was full.     "very disappointing as we were looking forward to staying an old Manor house only to be appointed a Chalet that had a broken toilet handle, which the owner said could not be fixed until the next day, no curtains on the patio doors " (108006712)

    The Hotel had a good time for breakfast, and the taxi service on offer was very good.

    The hotel was closed for Sunday so nothing was available drinks etc,The owner was not expecting us as the fax had not printed out.

    "The bedroom was so cold that I slept in my clothes the first night. There were no spare blankets in the hotel, but the did give us a fan heater, which helped. The next day when we returned to our room, it was snug - the underfloor heating was now working - what a difference. The staff were friendly & helpful. They dealt very well with problems and I would be happy to stay there again." (97686816)

    The bedroom was really cold & the bathroom needed a bit TLC (it was clean, just a bit in need of some TLC).

    "Would be worth investing in spa facilities and changing the targeted customers, found the kettle only worked if I held it in place and the hand rail of the bath not connected on one side also no bath mat and the shower door allowed the floor to get flooded (ended up cleaning the bathroom floor)alsio noted that at breakfast the stainless steel jug the milk was served in was tarnised and corroded (silly little things that a picky woman like myself noted Hope this is constructive and note seen as a criticism as I found the hotel a perfect location with the most helpful and couteous staff a thoroughly enjoyable stay" (97689802)

    Clean and fresh if a little lacking in the hotel normalities the business traveller expects (although not always require) no shampoo ,shower gel toothpaste complimentry or available. no evidence of room service excellent ambiance and effort from the owner and staff , lovely location food etc but would happily pay more at this location for the little extras has the making of four star but only charging two

    Charging two star although call guests were charming I was startled as a female solo traveller in the type of hotel booked to findit full of workmen and construction workers staying

    "The Manor ws undergoing renovation at the ime of our stay - hence the 'Fair' review for the cleanliness, however it is situated minutes from the city centre with taxi fare costing around £9.50 in one direction. The staff and food were good, as was the accomodation. The hotel is situated in the beautiful area of Penarth nd easily found." (97303269)

    Friendly and quietly efficient staff without any fuss adding an informal atmosphere to the stay.

    The chalet rooms are apart from the main hotel offering peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of the main building but only a few metres away.

    "The price was increased as it was a Rugby International weekend in Cardiff, which whilst in line with all other hotels in the area for that weekend, was not necessarily a true reflection of the quality of the hotel.     "We were very pleased with the hotel, and would happily stay there again. Our accommodation was good, and the evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant were both of good quality, with very attentive service.     Our accommodation was clean and bright, the bed was comfortable, and we were happy with our choice.

    Personally I would have preferred a blind of some kind at the window in the ceiling, but it didn't bother my husband!! Some people would be happy to gaze at the stars, but I like the dark!

    "We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and hope to stay there again next year when we visit Cardiff.there is one suggestion that I would make and that is if a sign be erected on the main road as the lane it is on easily missed if you do not know the area. the stadd were very pleasant and polite.Did not try the restaurant but hope to next year.     "Obviously the hotel is undergoing improvements, but they did not seem to interfere with the general running of the hotel. The staff were pleasant and food good. Except for soggy bread under my poached egg.I cannot vouch for rooms in hotel. Chalet rooms excellent." (3304132273)

    The chalet rooms are very comfortable with everything we need for a short break. The underfloor heating was wonderful.

    Nothing really, except for the room being rather too hot and a notice not to touch the thermostat.

    "we only stayed one night and could find nothing to fault. The front of house staff greeted us on arrival, took us to our chalet and then lit the fire in the main lounge, made us sandwiches and poured us a glass of wine. He then booked our taxi to take us into the city in the evening and made arrangements for them to collect us afterwards -we felt thoroughly spoilt. In fact nothing was too much trouble and this has made a lasting impression. The larger hotel chains should take note as to how a hotel should be run." (3304158564)

    we stayed in one of the new chalets, which was spacious, modern light and airy and tastefully but simply decorated, the under floor heating was an extra bonus on a very cold weekend.

    our friend stayed in the hotel itself and her room needed some updating but was very clean & comfortable
