    Staff were friendly and the evening meal was very good. Superb location.

    Hotel furnishings need updating as do ensuite facilities.

    "Having checked into the hotel, I then had to check out again and return home due to a family health issue, so I am unable to comment on 'the stay' itself.     Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful setting. Lovely restuarant and evening meal. Spacious clean room.

    Room was extremely hot throughout the night, even turning off the radiator didn't have any effect! Shower was far to low I had trouble standing underneath it so my boyfriend,at 6 foot tall,had no chance!

    Lovely setting, a hotel with charactoer and lovely real fires. Some lovely rooms.

    Shower temperature control not easy. Some rooms could do with updating.

    Stunning location,reasonably friendly staff.

    There is no excuse these days for serving Nescafe as coffee for breakfast and it is adding insult to injury to carry out the deceit of serving it in a cafetiere!Why not put the jar and a spoon on the table?

    The food was to a very high standard. The bar was excellent and the grounds were stunning.

    Rooms were a little down at heel and the on-suit facilities were poor.

    Very reasonabale price for a hotel.

    Room smelled a little musty. Bedcovers and pillows did not smell the cleanest. Duvet on one of the beds had a great white stain on it. Kinda puts you off.

    "Enjoyed our stay in a lovely location. It looks like the hotel has been getting modernised, with new carpets etc throughout, so maybe just not got to the rooms yet. Nice breakfast. Didn't have any other meals, but the ones we saw looked very nice. Bar reasonably priced and well stocked." (97280405)

    "Overall very good value for money. Breakfast was good and prompt service (not many staying). Only had light meal in the evening but this was adequate and though no cheese board on menu they did attempt one, though only two cheeses!" (97373392)

    lovely location, quiet, enjoyed the piped music.

    nowhere to hang towels in bathroom, disliked position of toilet as it was in front of window and drawing curtains made it difficult to reach toilet roll!!

    It was terrible. My weekend was compleaty ruined. I would never ever go again. My room was old, dirty, the shower well I did not use it. There was white old dust around the wardrobe on the floor. God it made my skin crawl.

    "We were shown three rooms before settling for the least worse room. We could not move on as we had driven 400 miles and it was to late to find another hotel that might have rooms to let. The hotel is very unclean not only paintwise,but cobwebs,dirty mirrors, dirty carpets etc. It is very run down and should not be on your web site. However the staff were friendly although overworked and appeared to be in short supply and in fairness the food was good." (3305025092)

    "I enjoyed staying at the Urr Valley. It is on the edge of Castle Douglas, close to amenities, but far enough away to be in a quiet location. The historic building is set in a beautiful estate, surrounded by beautiful countryside. My single room was small but adequate." (3305080283)

    The Hotel is a beautiful old building, full of character, set in tranquil countryside. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff.

    I was unable to close the curtains as there was a piece of furniture in the way.

    "Accommodation was comfortable and clean with the staff being very friendly and helpful. The dining room was rather small so that if a lasrge party were present the environment became very noisy whilst you were dining which was not suitable for a couple like ourselves at breakfast or dinner. Being a small hotel the facilities available were limited to what you would receive with a larger hotel chain such as 24 hour room service. The meal times were restricted especially for breakfast and catered for the early risers." (3304217329)
