    A really lovely hotel in a great setting. Our excellent room looked over the fountains. Staff very helpful and friendly.

    Concierge was very busy and so our taxi was sent away as no-one realised we were in the bar.

    We had a very good stay and its central location was great for access to Sheffield

    Beware of nearby multistory car park. Because we checked out after 9.00 am we were charged £11.50 for parking. Overnight up to 9.00 am would have been £5.00

    No bad points apart from the fire alarm going off three times at around 5 am.

    in my opinion still the best hotel in sheffield

    1 of leisure facilities not working, internet not working, paper not delivered, not all channels working ask described, volume control in bathroom not working

    "We had planned on a relaxing overnight stay as treat, in the end we didn't utilise the facilities to the full due to the cleanliness of the Spa and therefore were quite disappointed. We felt this hotel is living off an old reputation." (107904207)

    Very well situated for City Centre.

    The spa was very disappointing, the pool smelt like a fish tank and the steamrooms where questionable clean with orange mildew between the tiles. This didn't enthuse us to stay long, never mind relax in there.

    Excellent room, staff, facilities etc.

    Yes, we stayed in March and it was snowing, but the room was freezing cold and there was no heating. However, staff provided us with a heater and an extra duvet.

    The room was fantastic.

    The TV remote was in a poor condition also, the extractor fan and TV Volume switch in the bathroom did not work. This did not affect our stay.

    "Because it was Christmas the rates were good but we would not use this hotel again - the hotel is not that old but the carpets in our room are showing signs of heavy traffic" (107902396)

    The location of the hotel overlooking the Peace Gardens is the hotel's biggest attraction = we came for Christmas lunch with overnight stays - the food was excellent

    The Junior suite we had booked had not been cleaned since the previous occupiers - the staff seemed as if they did not communicate our requests although the time of year it may have been only a skeleton staff working- the room's heating had problems so a portable was brought - bath robes had not got any belts-

    Good view from window and location. Good spa facilities.

    Noise from lift. Lumpy bed. No welcome pack in room so didnt know how turn off heating so we endured a night of listening to a fan. Request for pack was ignored. Do not disturb sign went missing from outside door! Expensive breakfast £16.95 each!! Went to local pub instead!

    Very good (almost unbelievable !) price from internet booking

    Mistake made by receptionist meant I was overcharged £6.50 for the off-site NCP parking which I was not able to recover due to time constraints.

    Quality of facilities

    Check in problems due to electricity company and excessive visitors that did not checked out on time. Facts that after 8 hours journey and arriving at the hotel around 9 p.m. hotel management has failed to provide us a room as it was supposed to do, according a reservation made about 2 months ago. So we were forced to move to another nearby hotel for just one day, paid by Mercure Spa Hotel.

    "This is my second time to stay at this hotel. I have alwys found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a superior room free of charge which I thought was a nice touch. The hotel is in an ideal location, just five minutes from both the train station and the centre of town. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone and I will deinitely stay there again." (107277905)

    Very efficient, friendly and helpful hotel with very good facilities

    Not a bad point but I might suggest in the instruction/helpful notes book there be the IP address for the internet connection. I had some difficulty connecting and it would have been a great help to have the hotel's connection settings available.

    nearly 20 minutes to get a drink served from bar to table!!!!! no parking.. but didnt mind paying for consierge to park car. nearly charged for mini bar items we didn`t have..mini bar not checked before we arived

    Very good service, beautiful hotel and excellent value for money

    Hard to find it on the internet, perhaps try to optimise your search engine. Also the booking form was not a simple Mecure website had to use an agency. Also the spa was not open when it said it was. A little disappointed but generally pleased with all the facilities

    Leisure facilities

    Poor selection of vegetarian options on the restaurant menu, such that I had to eat in an external restaurant. Shower in the room was not particularly clean.

    lovely friendly hotel, rooms spacious, comfortable, clean with lovely views over the peace gardens. Breakfast expensive so did not book

    only 2 bad points during stay, ice bucket was mouldy but staff did bring us fresh ones immediately and hair dryer was poor only blowing cold air

    Good value for the price in the U.K. It is unusual to find a hotel with a pool/spa for that value.

    Difficult to find...why does Sheffield not have street signs? Not the hotel's fault, but Sheffield is awful. Also, parking situation is silly...hotels should validate parking and not charge 1/4 of the room rate for same. Breakfast at 15 pounds also dreadfully overpriced.

On this occasion, twice in one afternoon, members of staff entered the room when it was occupied, once without knocking, the second time at 6.45 pm to check the minibar - why was this necessary?     Straight away at check in the lady was very friendly and throughout the stay the staff were excellent.Loved the restaurant and bar area the way they are attached to the winter gardens.Room was great lovely and clean and quite big compared to other rooms ive stayed in.Excellent hotel and hope to stay again when i take a trip to Sheffield later this year.

    "Ordered room service for cheese 'selection' and biscuits for £7, only two types of cheese were provided and the biscuits were stale! I thought this was shocking for a 4* hotel.
