    i could not find any good points in this hotel

    They did not have a spare key for the room and when i told them the original room key is on way with a taxi they could not wait and broke into the room and charged me 50 pounds extra for it....

    Room and bed were clean Convenient for train into Cardiff Only had to stay one night

    "Continental breakfast" was very poor Exterior of hotel makes it look like a dump - the car park especially was a dump.

    The hotel was nice,even though it has a very bad reputation,it was clean and tidy.the staff were friendly and helpful.it was nice that the room had 3 beds was expecting only 2.

    The kettle was dusty,one of the beds were broken,would have been nice to have a cooked breakfast

    "We only booked it because we were going to the Take That concert. Everything in Cardiff was booked. We would never stay in this hotel again and wished we had driven home after the concert. " (107597159)

    train station was 10 minutes away and it only took 30 minutes into Cardiff.

    We should have had two twin bed rooms but were given double (although £10 was taken off of the room bill).Someone decided to start playing rave music at 3am on our floor. This went on for about an hour. The shower head holder was broke. There was a window in the bathroom but it didn't open. There was a smell coming from the sanitary pump at the back of the toilet. The area around the hotel looked very 'unsafe' for a group of women to walk back from the train station at mid-night.

    The staff was rather friendly.

    Doesn't take credit card; Most of the time, you have to use the pub entrance to get to the hotel (there's an entrance at the hotel but it's usually locked) and all their pub customers seemed to stop and stare; they don't take out the rubbish in the room even when the bin is full; The hotel is on a rather questionable street (dodgy side of the town); For £60 a night, all they have on the breakfast table are a couple loaves of bread, a toaster, a box of corn flakes and weetabix.

    Easy to find, friendly staff

    We had a twin room, one bed was fine, the other one was terrible, you could feel the springs poking through.

    "A total disaster. We would have gone elsewhere but it was late and we decided that anything was better than nothing. There was no restaurant as advertised so we had to catch a cab into Barry for an evening meal. The double bed had 2 pillows and a bedspread. There was no blankets or doona or extra pillows. We kept the heating on all night for warmth. No way of contacting reception. There were 2 used soaps in the bathroom and 1 little new one. Nothing else.We arrived at breakfast at 7.50 to find noone in the restaurant. After calling for some time a cleaning lady heard us and got the managers's wife we presumed. We were told breakfast was off at 7.30. As we had been told 8.00 she reluctantly agreed to cook us breakfast which was included in the price. No-one was at the desk when we left, so we just left the keys on the desk and departed never to return." (99167423)

    There was no restaurant, one of the reasons for choosing. The room was small, uninviting and just clean. Breakfast hours were very early and there was a difference of closing time given by front desk and kitchen staff. There was no welcome at all.

    "We had a great time using the Tadross Hotel as a stopover to visit Cardiff and the surrounding areas. There wasn't any information though about things to do ect which would have been helpful. The local taxis and train service are great value for money. All in all we had a very enjoyable break." (3304128190)

    I liked the friendly staff and the situation of the hotel. Plenty of places to eat in the area.

    One person in our group doesn't like Corn Flakes and that was the only cereal to have. That is the only complaint if you can call it that!

    "Surrounding area and external appearance a bit off-putting but clean & comfortable inside with newly refurbished bedrooms and decent breakfast. 5 minute walk + 20 minute train to Cardiff Central. Little in the way of amenities or attractions in the immediate vicinity but fine for Cardiff events or an overnight stop when touring. Would use the hotel again." (2893278)

    "The hotel itself was fine the room clean but maybe lacked storage space. The stay would have been improved if there had been satellite tv or even movies to rent as having a young child we had to return to the room early evening. I was dissappointed in the play area advertised as I thought it was attached to the hotel but it was a council area full of teenagers and unsuitable for a toddler. The worst thing about the hotel is its location but for travelling to Cardiff it was excellent with a return train ride for " (3304174195)

    "The reception staff were so helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Being a lone female I appreciated the extra care and attention to make sure that I was all right with everything. Their local knowledge was greatly appreciated which they took time to share - espically the local Indian restaurant!" (3304200480)

    Great size room! Plenty of space and well thought out.

    Double glazing on the windows in the bedroom would be a bonus.

    "We stayed at the Tadross when we were down for the wales-scotland rugby match, great location for the train to cardiff (20min journey), very handy having the pub right next door and the locals made us feel very welcome, the cooked breakfast in the morning was excellent, our only gripe would have been about the heating-no happy medium either freezing or roasting!! overall we enjoyed our stay and would return again if unable to get accomodation in cardiff."     "The hotel was value for money. The helpfulness of the staff did help to make up for the poor in room facilities. The pub attached to the hotel is very noisy and would not suit some guests. My party did not mind it. The breakfast was good. The room very spacious and clean." (3304135577)

    The room was spacious and clean. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was excellent.

    The shower was very poor despite being very clean and modern looking. The water pressure was not good and as a result the shower dribbled water and the water temperature was inconsistent. The TV kept losing its sound and the picture reception was poor.

    "We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the Hotel reception. Was relieved to be informed that the hotel had it,s own parking area as we had parked on the road at the side of the pub.The room itself was very nice -spotless bathroom, tea/coffee/tv etc. Enjoyed the hotel stay itself, the staff were very accomodating and friendly, the dining room is prime for evening meals if cost effective. On a downside, did not find the pub atmosphere friendly which could deter certain clientelle. Need to ensure that customers to the hotel are aware where reception is and not have to go in to the public bar to try and book in. Overall we had a nice couple of nights and would stay again as i think the hotel has potential." (2983374)

    It looked like the hotel had been recently re-furbished, the room was clean/tidy/warm. Bathroom and shower area looked brand new. Dining area was smart, breakfast was plentiful, staff helpful.

    Hotel signage could be better, struggled to find the hotel. Had to go into the bar to inform that we had booked for 2 nights, were told that reception was round the corner.

    "To be honest this Hotel for the price was excellent, knowing the exact distance to Cardiff and Swansea cenres would be good with all the transport options.If you have a car then to tour that coast line would be comfortable, hotel parking is good.Food wise locally there are are quite a few take-aways, not sure on restaurants. A local map of Barry ( if available) would be handy." (2686175)

    "This was our first time in Cardiff and although Barry was a little way out it was easy to find and the train station was not far away so that was no problem. The rooms were spotless and seemed new and bright. The shower was a bit of a let down but other than that we thought it was great value for money. The breakfast was also great with everything that you could want! The staff at reception were very helpful and bent over backwards to help us be comfortable and happy! Having a pub downstairs was also very handy. There were 3 couples staying in our group and we were all thoroughly impressed with the Tadross." (2850840)

    "We stayed here because it was the closest accommodation we could get to Cardiff for a rugby match. It was clean and friendly, but the rooms were spartan. No drinking glasses, no spare bedding, no drawers. The room wasn't serviced during our two night stay. It was a very cold weekend, with snow on the ground when we arrived and we found the room quite cold on the first night. After we left the heater on all the next day it was fine for the second night." (2906432)

    "The hotel was very good value, we booked at the last minute specifically as a stop over for dropping off at Cardiff University. to this end our needs were well catered for. We did not have much time to explore the area but we needed to find somewhere to get an evening meal and there did not seem to be much available in walking distance. I understand that the hotel intends to offer evening meals in the future, this is essential given the location of the hotel. It would probably be useful if the adjoining pub provided some meals. The hotel was quite happy for us to get food from the local takeaways but it would have been difficult to eat them in the room. Overall the hotel met our requirements and we would be happy to stay there again" (2740754)

    People were very friendly and welcoming, the family room was a good size.

    Could have done with some extra bedding. The breakfast was good but there could have been more flexibility, I think this will develop as the hotel matures. We could have done with a contact phone number for the hotel as we arrived later than expected and we found the directions to the hotel inadequate.
