    Welcome was very good at reception.

    Didn't realise that diner was not served on Sundays and was a disappointment. Buffet breakfast was not good by 9:30am (Dried out and inadequate).

    Very nice hotel, quiet, great location, big bathroom, comfortable beds, clean.

    two out of three staff members we spoke to were constantly on the phone talking to friends and not always willing to help.

    Fabulous location, great spot for the Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Gardens. Well mannered and helpful staff. Room clean, comfortable and pleasant.

    Probably due for a refit, but everything in order and very clean nevertheless.

    Excellent location very spacious rooms

    As with a lot of Hotels the shower could be better, we went to the Albert Hall for a concert and on our return, 10:40, the bar was closed somebody served us a drink after going to reception but it was all veru unwelcoming.

    excellent room facilities (upgraded to 1 bedroom suite), spacious, clean, very comfortable bed

    room was too warm, even with a window open. Radiator was set to high, despite temps outside of 23 degrees C.

    Great location for going to event at Royal Albert Hall. Good sized room.

    Did not seem to be well prepared to serve residents in the bar. Slow service and poorly stocked.

    Bed (already reported) exceptionally un comfortable - springs protruding - mattress needs replacing urgently. Otherwise excellent hotel.

    "Excellent, the JHH is located in the heart of Kensington where my friend and I attended an event. The staff, beauty and cleanliness of the room made our stay memorable. " (107199660)

    Everything was excellent, the service, cleanliness, room services, etc.

    One of the office personnel was extremely rude when I observed that the internet was slow. He refuted that it was rather fast actually (which was not, it took almost 10 minutes to open a page). He then said that the rates were extremely low anyway, and that it made no difference. Then I printed a page, and it took a long time so he clicked again, and several pages came out. I said that I only needed one page, and he refuted that it was already on, and that he would not press the stop button. This employee's attitude was unacceptable. Which is the only reason for depicting staff performance as poor. Everyone else was kind, very helpful, and polite.

    Friendly reception, clean and neat rooms.

    Bar & restaurant staff very unimpressive. Was given wrong drink - when pointed out was replaced reluctantly! At 2130 went into restaurant and asked for a table for 6 and was told that they did not have one. Even thought there were several tables that could easily have been moved to accommodate us, no effort was made nor was any real interest shown. We would have settled for a short wait in the bar but so such suggestion was made. We felt that there was on interest in us and that we were an inconvenience! Benefit was that we had an excellent meal in a local friendly restaurant where the staff went out of their way to make us welcome. As a result of that experience we also had breakfast out so you lost quite a lot of revenue as a result!! Your loss (and our gain).

    Nice architecture overall. Large room. well-equipped bathroom. Great location.

    Room a bit "soul-less" - in extension. Breakfast not as good as I'd expecrt for the money - hot food was not hot. TV old, no classical music on radio channels. Be prepared to walk 10 minutes from Gloucester Road, South Kensington or High Street Kensington Underground stations - or if with luggage get a bus or taxi!

    "Checking in was very efficient, very pleasant staff that accommodated our request for a different room. Was lead to believe from previous reviews that the rooms were spacious when in fact they were very small, the bathroom was disappointing as having to climb into a bath to have a shower is no fun when you have arthritis. As stated previously, the room was unbearably hot so we had a very uncomfortable night." (97749822)

    The proximity to The Royal Albert Hall where we were going to an event. The cleaness of the hotel.

    The rooms were very small, our first room looked onto the side of the building and made us feel we were in a cellar, we were moved but had very little sleep because despite turning the heat off and opening the windows the room was un bearably hot.

    "I stayed for 1 night. This hotel is very convenient to the Royal Albert Hall. When I tried to check in at noon, one of the receptionist was very abrupt in her manner, stating that check-in is 2pm. When I returned to check-in at 2pm, the room wasnt ready. I explained that this was not acceptable. She didnt apologise and was rude in her dealings with me. The other receptionists were more than helpful. The room itself was fine, although the decor is rather dated. The view from the window was dreadful- it looked into a wall. I wouldnt stay in this hotel again." (97123226)

    We were upgraded to a Superior Twin room, so appreciated the extra space. The bathroom warmth was appreciated on a very cold night.

    The stair carpet on one stair near our room was loose and could be a hazard.

    "It was only a one night stay but we enjoyed it. We like walking so it was conveniently situated to most areas we are likely to want to visit. Unless I misread the website it was not clear how to get from Gloucester Road underground station to the hotel.The hotel was shown on our street plan but the station was off the map so we had to do a bit of guessing.     Pleasantly surprised at size of room, on floor requested, very clean and comfortable. Excellent supply of toiletries and teamaking facilities. Very quiet room, no road traffic noise.

    Everything as above. We also appreciated having our room upgraded.

    The hotel particularly the bedroom was very hot, and although we turned the thermostat to 0 it didn't really seem to make much difference. Windows were opened and that helped but it was too noisy at night to leave them open. We foiund we could sleep with just a sheet to cover us. Apart from that we had an excellent w/e.

    "John Howard Hotel is comfortable, clean hotel and is a good base to get around the sights.The staff were generally helpful, we thought the evening meal was excellent. There was torrential rain while we were there and being on the top floor we had a slight leak through the roof, when I reported it, the maintenance staff were there within a few minutes to have a look and take care of it.     Large comfortable room, suite on top floor. Hotel clean and with good facilities.

    Only the weather, dont think the hotel could do a lot about that unfortunately.

    Bathroom door banged shut and didn't stay open. TV could not be swung round to watch from the bed! No obvious power point to plug in kettle, but did find one the opposite side of the room to the tea tray

    "I thought the value for money was good. The area is excellent and near all amenities but far enough to avoid the congestion charge if you are driving. The air conditioning unit was noisy and as it was a particularly hot day, you couldn't turn it off, so sleeping was a problem. Taxi's regularly go up and down the road, which is nice." (3304957384)
