    The hotel is great. The room was clean with huge bath. The place is very quiet. The food was excellent and the staff was very helpful.

    The Edwardian Room, Pool Facilities and Woods

    No one really in charge, even in Restaurant. Never saw a manager once.

    "We were looking for a hotel near Holyhead for an overnight stay to catch the morning ferry, but found a whole lot more. We were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine and sat by a magnificent log fire while our luggage was taken care of by the friendly staff. We arrived fairly late in the evening but were still given the opportunity to dine in the restaurant ( we subsequently ordered room service which was some of the best we have had) We had only booked the day before travel and though the room we stayed in was fairly small, the decoration, cleanliness and finish was to a very high standard. It is a shame we were unable to enjoy some of the other hotel features such as the spa, and beautiful grounds in which the hotel is situated. We were so impressed we are planning to return to Tre-Ysgawen Hall for a longer stay." (99843689)

    The spa and pool were excellent and the staff were great. The gardens were also beautiful

    Unfortunately the building was staring to deteriorate due to the effects of age. This may be charming to some people.

    "What a find! A wonderful hotel, tucked out of the way on a B road on Anglesey, a perfect stopover on the way to Ireland, and what a way to woo my girlfriend, we felt like a king and queen when we walked through the big blue doors, especially when greeted by such friendly staff. The food was second to none; I would definitely recommend the Welsh Black Beef, grown locally apparently! We were very lucky that the Spa therapists were able to book us appointments for massages at such short notice. We will definitely be back to sample more from the extensive range that they have on offer, and when not being pampered we will be by the pool, or in the jacuzzi, or steam-room, or coffeeshop or playing croquet on the lawn (weather permitting of course!)"     "While the accommodation is impressive, the room contents are actually quite basic. The food was very expensive considering that the cooking was no better than ordinary, attempting to make up for unimpressive main components with large heaps of dressed salad. The strength of the hotel undoubtedly lies in its staff,who were all extremely polite, helpful and efficient." (3304599748)

    "I used the hotel as a stopover before getting the ferry the next day. Holyhead is only 20mins away, so there's no great rush to get up and get on the way again. For information, it took me about 6 hours from SE London, with a couple of short stops on the way. (M40, M42, M6 Toll,M56) Overall, a very nice place to stay." (3304413988)

    Fantastic location. A welcome sight after 6 hours on the Motorway from London!

    Bed and pillows were quite hard - probably just a personnal preference thing rather than an issue.

    "OUR VISIT COINCIDED WITH A WEDDING , CONSEQUENTLY THE STAFF WERE TOO BUSY TO DEAL WITH US IN A PROPER MANNER;SCREAMING CHILDREN WERE RUSHING AROUND CONTINUOUSLY; WE WAITED 48 MINUTES FOR A SIMPLE BAR MEAL WHICH WHEN IT ARRIVED WAS APPALLING IN SO FAR AS THE MAIN COURSE HAD BEEN ALLOWED TO SIT UNDER A WARMER WITH THE FISH HAVING A HARD CRUST AND ITS SAUCE HAD BECOME SKINNED, WE ASKED FOR A DESERT TO BE TOLD THAT THE ICE CREAM OPTION HAD RUN OUT.WE WERE KEPT AWAKE HALF THE NIGHT BY ROWDY REVELERS. ON CHECKING OUT THE RECEPTIONIST ASKED US AS IF ON AUTOPILOT WAS EVERYTHING ALRIGHT FOR YOU? WHEN WE SAID NO SHE APPEARED NOT TO BE INTERESTED IN THE SLIGHTEST AS TO WHY THAT SHOULD BE SO.WHILE THIS HOTEL MIGHT CONCEIVABLY BE ACCEPTABLE NORMALLY, IT CLEARLY CANNOT COPE WITH GUESTS AND A WEDDING AND THE MANAGEMENT SHOULD REALISE THAT AND CLOSE THE HOTEL DURING THAT PERIOD. THIS WAS DEFINITELY THE WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE WE HAVE HAD FOR SEVERAL YEARS IN STAYING AT HOTELS BOTH IN THE UK AND OVERSEAS.THIS HOTEL SETS ITSELF OUT TO BE AN UPMARKET ESTABLISHMENT WHICH WHEN WE STAYED IT MOST DEFINITELY WAS NOT."     The accomodation was great .Clean and tidy. The food was excellent. The health spa was the main reason we stayed at the hotel and did not dissapoint! We would definately stay again.

    "Not the best hotel that we have stayed in, nor unfortunately value for money. We have been fortunate enough to stay in a number of hotels of Distinction. We liked the service in the restaurant and breakfast room. More concern could have been expressed at reception when we paid our account There would appear to be a lack of decision taking at the reception point There should not be a problem with food. Dinner on the first evening was a pleasure but when one is served partially cooked fish that was still partly frosen doubts arise" (3304625168)

    Very pleasant surroundings with attentitive staff. The gardens were particually attractive

    No prior notice or booking opportunity to prebook spa facilities - on arrival minimal availability. Reason for choosing hotel was spa facility. Inedible fish served at breakfast on 2nd morning. I then became reluctant to invite extended family members to dinner that evening

    "The hotel reception staff were very pleasant. The staff in the main restaurant were in our opinion not up to silver service standard. Wine should always be opened at the table,our wine was opened before we were seated and was just left for us to help ourselves. We were asked if we would like toast with our breakfast but it did not arrive. These are only little things but in my view it is the small things that make an enjoyable stay special and make you return." (3304680805)

    The pool and spa area were very good and the staff very helpful.

    Our room was quite small and so was the bed.

    i didnt feel the room matched the rest of the hotel, it was clean and well presented as you obviously expect. maybe the 4 poster rooms would be better.

    Laid back friendly and amusing staff.

    If i was being really picky the coffee was weak but then also there was probably too many leaves on the trees too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Very tastefully decorated and plush.

    Directions to the hotel. It is fairly remote and the website instructed us to turn at the 'two tall trees'. Unfortunately we didnt have night vision goggles and the same trees were only moderately tall so we went two villages too far.

    "We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and will definately be back there in the next month or two. For a small hotel the facilites are excellent and very professionally managed. Apart from some minor things like the music it would be difficult to find any fault with the hotel and Ive stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world. I think your staff are very helpful and made us feel at home. I read a few reviews on the hotel before I booked and they were very complimentary, everything I read was true to the experiance. The sauna was out of action on the day we stayed which was a minor dissappointment but didnt spoil our experiance. Thanks for a great weekend!" (3304150848)

    The hotel is superbly presented and very relaxing. Excellent well maintained facilities. I could easily reccommend it to anyone.

    The hotel as a lot of history and a lot of effort as gone into the decor and furnishings. However, although the staff are very friendly and very accommadating there is an air of too much formality which can feel a bit stuffy at times. This is not a reflection on the staff just an observation that of they where a little more relaxed then the guest would be more relaxed as well. A typical example is the music being played in the bars and restaurants, its old and formal and not totally appropriate for times. But we gave the bar staff our own cd and they where happy to play it, it livened the place up!!!
