    "It is in a great position for the Showground and the bar is a good meeting place at the end of the day. For want of minor improvements at minimal cost, the above issues could be solved." (107878765)

    Lots of space, very clean room and bathroom, good location, comfortable bar, easy car parking

    Room and bathroom very poorly organised, the second most uncomfortable hotel bed that I have ever slept on, (out of many hundred), breakfast perfectly satisfactory but sometimes so painfully slow that we could not wait for it to be delivered.

    Staff were helpful. Cooked breakfasts were very good. Bed was comfortable. Good car parking space available. Quiet environment. Presumably the request as to how many nights stayed in past year included this visit. I have not been before.

    The TV in my room did not work till second day when someone came to turn on the power swith at the top on the TV, which was inaccessible to me. This should have been done previous to my arrival. One morning (Friday I think) I waited 15 mins after finishing my cereal for the cooked food to arrive. It appears there were not enough staff on duty for the increase in the number of guests. Without a Sat Nav it was extremely difficult and took me a long time to find the hotel and the hotel had no map to help me.

    Good vegetarian breakfast. Nice location.

    Room walls very thin. We could hear people in the adjacent rooms and walking past in the corridor.

    Evening meal was terrible, no restaurant service Mon/Tuesday only bar meals and then very limited choices.Heating in the bedroom non existant.

    Location was quiet, accessible to local attractions. Food was very good, breakfast was prompt. Poor check in was explained to us at breakfast the next day and apologies given.

    Poor check in. Room was cold although heating was on in rest of hotel.

    Roomy pub very clean with pleasent staff, lovely area so quite real counrtyside.

    The website mentioned the refurbishment, not sure that was really neccersary, Therefore was one of only a few people staying

    Good price and in a great location

    When I checked in I ad to wait for some time at a crowded bar as there was no one on reception. I found the furnishings of the room to be cheaqp and low qulaity. Finally the dinning area was extremely unattractive abd appeared to be a state of repair/refurbishment

    Room quite dated, bed fairly uncomfortable. Also, thin walls meant a lot of noise generated from other rooms.

    although classed as a hotel it was really just a large inn/pub, some areas were in need of repair and redecoration. there was no friendly atmosphere in the pub, although a few of the staff were friendly, we would not stay again.

    "The building itself lacked personality.Initial arrival and impressions not encouraging.unkempt car park,location of reception,directions/information typed on sheets of foolscape paper and sellotaped to the wall.layout of breakfast area cold and uninviting.All this lends itself to a feeling of not quite ready.These shortcomings to some extent compensated for by the warmth of the staff,cleanliness of the room and the excellent food. Finally, we were aroused early one morning by the fire alarm!There is nothing on the wall or door re instructions in the event of fire!We left our room without knowing the location of the nearest fire exit or assembly point.I know that guests should make themselves aware of such information on arrival but how many do? found said information in the hotel info pack.Not good enough."     this hotel is in the middle of the countryside with stunning views, i awoke to the sounds of goldfinches and great tits singing and never heard a vehicle for hours, very quiet and relaxing

    "We came down as a party of five for a two night stay, with the main purpose of attending a 60th birthday party at Meare. It was also very close to places such as Wells & Bath so we decided to make a whole weekend of it. Crossways was ideal for this purpose. The staff were very helpful, nothing too much trouble, they recommended a taxi firm to take us to the party and return us safely (So everyone could have a drink.) Breakfasts were very nice, almost too much to eat. The rooms were comfortable and clean, although the bathrooms were a bit small, but perfectly adequate for a brief stay." (97102580)

    Everything was very clean and neat, with facilities such as tea/coffee making, private bathroom and hairdryer. One of our party had problems with the heating in his room but after consulting staff this was soon put right. All staff were very helpful.

    "I would like to have known about the rooms and any additional information such as being above the function room. But all in all a fairly good stay but was expensive for what it was so was not good value for money.Also the lack of any information on arrival was poor." (97485588)

    Selection of food on offer at the ajoining pub and quiteness of the area.Alsogreat selection of the breakfast menu and prompt service.

    Late night music from the function room also the old style of the hotel.

    "We would definately recommend this hotel. They were very friendly and made our stay very special. We stayed for a leisure weekend away to celebrate a birthday, they even provided a birthday cake free of charge." (97148502)

    Staff very friendly and informative about the area. Breakfast was excellent. Full English breakfast was cooked to order and was served piping hot and the restaurant food was of a very high standard. The room was basic but very clean and had every thing we needed. The bedding was spotlessly clean.

    It would have been nice to have a bath in the en suite. Although the shower was very good.

    The view over the countryside; the ensuite bathroom with Jacuzzi and the room itself was spacious. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast generous.

    The fact that as it was the bridal suite it would have been nice if there had been at least a card from the management congratulating us.

    "There was no room refresh service on Sunday, so we had to make our own bed and wash tea cups in the sink. It was expensive for what it was. The room was small, and the furniture old and in need of replacement. The public areas were also dated, and not welcoming. We hardly saw another guest or member of staff there! Breakfast was poor - very basic, only orange juice, no choice of juices, only grapefruit (tinned) as fruit selection. On sunday we had to make our own toast, on the monday it was brought to us, but we were not offered brown or white, just got white. We did not feel comfortable at all and the people walking up and down corridors kept us awake at night, there was a fire door next to our room that they kept banging shut. On the positive side, breakfast was freshly cooked, as we were practically the only guests, and there was plenty of hot water at all times of the day." (99278893)

    That in the distance you could see the Tor and that the rooms were spacious, they accommodated our need for an early breakfast. All in all a nice hotel.

    It is hard to find in the dark, if you don't have correct information.

    "The ambiance of the hotel I felt was very quiet and relaxed. The staff were courteous and helpful. I ate dinner and two breakfasts at the hotel which were freshly cooked to order and of excellent quality. If I visit Wells again I would definitely consider booking the Cossways again.     "The Crossway is a great place for couples and families. The staff are great with an even better chef. Very accomodating to the needs of their guests. Quitely located in the country away from the noise and hassle of other B&B's or hotels. A great location, just a few minutes drive from almost all of Sommersets attractions.     The Crossway Hotel is a very quite and comfortable palce in a beautiful country environment. The staff were excellant and very attentive to the needs of their guests. A fantastic place with a family touch, that made for a wonderful getaway from the normal routine.
