    Hotel restaurant is very good: good food at reasonable prices, and attentive staff.

    Bedrooms are very dowdy and old fashioned and my bathroon smelled of damp...

    Central position

    Not enough room to park on car park - had to park elsewhere and walk to hotel. My mother's room smelt fusty and wallpaper was coming off the wall. Noise from bars below and rattling windows (it was very windy) kept us awake.

    Good food, interesting if somewhat worn accommodation.

    Noise!!! Very centrally located (great for the town/shops/nightlife) BUT also next to clubs and with lots of function rooms hired out nightly.... sometimes just over the corridor from guest bedrooms. Would recommend future guests to specify that they require rooms AWAY from the functions, otherwise be prepared to stay awake til 3am!

    Cocktail bar on first floor very quiet and comfortable. Room very well equipped.

    Difficult to get a space in the car park, but there's a public one almost next door, at the back, on West Street.

    The staff were friendly and helpful, the facilities at the hotel were good. The room was clean.

    Unfortunately the noise level due to the all night bars in the vicinity was unacceptable. Even though the hotel staff moved us to a different room for the second night the noise continued until 6am!

    "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly come back, we had read previous reviews saying that it was very noisy at night with the sound of the bars and nightclub going on till 3 and 4 in the morning. This was not our experience, we did not hear any noises from the bars or club. All in all we could recommend this Hotel." (108575976)

    The staff were very friendly and helpful, all the facilities were excellent, the breakfast was good and varied. Cloisters restaurant was excellent with a good menu.

    The room was a bit dated and needed redorating but had all the facilities you could need.

    staff were excellant. breakfast staff were very polite even though it was busy.

    when booking the hotel i rang up as didnt have access to internet at the time and was told the superior room was not available when booking over the phone but online i could book it. just didnt make sense

    Restaurant took a booking from me, by phone, without advising that on a Saturday night they only offer a Dinner Dance menu which we found somewhat restrictive. It was a little embarassing for us as we were entertaining friends and eventually because of the lack of alternative menu or venue we left without ordering. For out of town guests the restaurant facilities should be more clearly stated. My complaint was submitted to the reception desk at the time.

    "A beautiful grand hotel with extremly friendly staff. Loved the closeness of the Southport nighlife, especially Maloneys which is situated in the hotel! Fabulous! Breakfast in the morning was a treat, although being a buffet it did take extra effort after our night out. Only down point was when we went to pay our bill, We were nearly charged an extra £42.00 for meals in the restaurant we never had! Although once I pointed this out, the amount was removed from our bill without hesitation. All in all an excellent hotel." (108286864)

    Close to nightlife in southport

    Rooms are a tad old fashioned but totally understandable as in keeping with the age of the hotel

    we asked for a twin room which is usually two seperate beds. we got a double not really appropriate for mother and daughter. we were over a very VERY noisy bar and were kept awake until the disco had ended about 3am every night. we were on the third floor and the lift broke down on our last day.

    Very good food and facilities, very obliging and friendly staff, and an excellent position on Lord Street - straight out of the front door and on to the main street.

    The toasters in the dining room for making your own toast at breakfast - neitrher of them seemed to 'colour' the toast very well! Otherwise, no bad points.

    "We chose this hotel because we understood from Enjoy England it is "quality assured" "excellent accommodation". Booking.com does say that its in a "lively area" but I think "lively" should be defined. After midnight we experienced,in our opinion, excrutiating loud music emanating from the hotel ground floor bar and also from the surrounding bars and clubs. " (107893895)

    Regarding our requirements this hotel has nothing to offer us.

    Excrutiating loud disco type music accompanied by what felt like the floor shaking. Tired decor.

    excellent resaurant facilities and good value, relaxing cocktail bar, efficient and polite staff.

    on arrival the toilet in the room did not flush, this was repaired the next day. poor car park facilities.

    dirty bed linen had to ask for clean bed linen. dust on headboard and on bedside lamps.Dust on hand rails in the corridors.Drinking glasses left on the floor outside rooms while rooms were getting cleaned;which a child could have fell over.Noise from club till 3am when i phoned reception to complain i was told that they have a licence till then,maybe i should have been told that when we booked the room we were not even ofered another room that was that.And we got the same response from reception when we were leaving,we were told oh yes we are having problems with that at the moment.

    The range of extras in the room were excellent (sewing kit, cotton wool etc). The room was spacious. The bed was very comfortable. Very good breakfast.

    The shower was not great - ie not very powerful and difficult to get in the ideal position. However, the bathroom was very clean. The noise from outside (from music and when that finished, from people shouting) made it difficult to sleep on our first night. The second night was much better.

    Good atmosphere. Like Barons Bar at lunchtime and Cocktail bar in the evening. Both good value for money with well trained attentive staff. Also enjoy the live music.

    Room we stayed in, 135 , was not as well located as many of the others we have stayed in in terms of it tended to be dark and close the Saturday night nightclub activity

    the swimming pool and leisure facilities were good and very quiet when we went.

    Even though it wasnt really part of the hotel we noticed that the cocktail bar downstairs was always very busy and the toilets were very dirty. overflowing loos and used toilet paper all over the floor. not a good image.

    Nice little things like ironing board at the trouser press, free water and mints

    A fridge would have been great. Very hot in rooms despite windows being open and the fan on - not your fault with the weather but you may have to think about air conditioning in the future.

    good room pleasant staff

    the lifts are very old and slow, the back lift to the leisure club was not working at all during our stay, cleaners trolleys left in hallways all day even when not being used
