    Hotel was dirty, room still had rice on bedside from previous people, very noisey until 3am with booming music so not able to sleep.

    "This is not a hotel in any sense of the word. It is a pub with rooms. At the weekend there is a disco until about 3.30am and the music is very loud, the rooms are directly above it. After that there was shouting and swearing on the street outside. It is run down and not to be used unless you enjoy the rougher edge of things. However, the managers had only been in place for one week and were very approachable and clearly this company has dumped them with a lot of hard work, managing such a place. " (108704897)

    "As I entered the Hotel (a Pub really and only a Hotel as an after thought) I was greated by the very friendly staff and the manager introduced herself and checked me in. Before I could say anything other than "Hello I have a booking" she immediately asked me if I was aware that there would be late night loud music until 3am in the morning and that it was clearly stated on the website. I wasnt aware of this at all but it was too late to find an alternative place to stay for the night. I was visiting several Engligh Heritage sites over 2 days in the area and as such booked the room through the link on their site and even now I can not see any mention anywhere that there will be late night music until 3am in a HOTEL. If I had realised this was a PUB and not a HOTEL (despite what they try and call it) then I would not have booked the night as for £38 I would not expect a Hotel to have late night music. Excluding the late night thumping music - everything else was fantastic! Friendly and helpfull staff, a good room with a comfy bed and great shower along with a brilliant cooked English breakfast in the morning!" (107518288)

    Friendly and helpfull manager, off-street car park for residents, very comfortable bed :) and a great shower!

    Carpet in the room looked dirty (had been vaccumed but lots of stains). At 11pm the loud music started thumping away and didnt end until several hours later.

    pleasantly quaint pub,friendly staff and very quiet upstairs despite pub being busy.

    prefer a bath to shower and dble bed rather than twin but nothing spoilt our weekend as these were just minor points.

    "Good. I would stay again if I had any reason to go back to Bexhill!!!" (107802739)

    We were shown to our room and contrary to other reviews we found the staff to be helpful - particularly the barman with the long hair and both of the managers who we had a laugh with. Nice, clean rooms although some were a lot larger than others but prices were the same.

    I did not get my breakfast in the morning although I was 10-minutes late (but I had booked it the day before so thought it would be ready).

    The hotel had good parking facilities

    The night we stayed was a quiet evening, but I think that other evenings aould have been too noisy as they have club nights and karaoke evenings.

    very good welcome, room clean, tidy and well furnished. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Good food well served

    breakfast was full cooked English and toast and marmalade - no choice - no fruit juice, cereal etc. Late night music could be heard in the rooms - but we were warned about that in advance

    We stay one night from Saturday to Sunday, very loud music /Disco until 3 hour in night = it was not possible to sleep!!!

    Hotel was clean tidy, I phone ahead due to travelling from afar and it was no problem

    Carpets had a fag burn but overal room very clean and tidy.

    "I found out the day before that the hotel has a late bar licence till 3am at weekends and had a very loud disco till 2.30am. It is a pub with rooms rather than a hotel and although the staff were friendly, it wasn't a great place to stay unless you wanted to stay up till the early hours!" (97959659)

    Not many. Staff a bit remote. Breadfast more welcoming.

    The bed was clean but the mattress was in very poor condition. It was extremely uncomfortable to the extent that I could feel springs sticking into my body. In the morning I had some aches and pains as a result.

    "We would like to have known it was a pub with accommodation rather than a straightforward hotel - we had a minor in tow and it wasn't entirely appropriate. We would also have liked to have been informed as to when they stopped serving food, for we came back from the shore only to be told the kitchens were closed. And the food - the home cooking we were served at breakfast the first day - was disgusting; the sausages were processed stodge, the scrambled eggs were insipid and the baked beans tasted noxious (fizzy orange). We had no choice in the matter the first day. I asked for cereals the next day - they were poured into the bowl - again, no choice - and a measured amount of milk was poured over the top. Most of the hotels of our acquaintance have had a breakfast buffet arrangement. The cleaner came down to breakfast the first morning wearing no underwear, I am told (I didn't notice). Obviously this is a hygiene issue." (97644271)

    Hot water and television

    The food was disgusting, the beds were hard, the chef was surly, the teapot wasn't cleaned out properly, everything was measured and we felt we were an inconvenience.

    "Absolutely wonderful and welcoming hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed myself, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation to all who are travelling." (97782211)

    I would highly recommend this hotel, from the fantastic friendly staff, the well furnished and laid out rooms to the very nice clean ensuite. As a limited mobility traveller, the staff went out of their way to ensure I was well looked after. This hotel would suit all types of travellers, from families all the way through to couples just looking to get away. Totally worth every penny paid in every way. Thanks The York Hotel for making my stay nothing but a pure pleasure.

    "all the staff are friendly and helpful, good menu, yes its a pub and not a hotel, so there will be a bit a music etc but not that loud, the new managers are doing a wonderful job and im sure things are going to get even better, would stay again when im in the area" (97990804)

    The room was a good size, the staff were pleasant and although we had book for B & B there had been a problem with the kitchen so we couldn't get breakfast but was refunded money to compensate. It wasn't really a problem because there a quite a few good place to get something to eat. The hotel was inbetween managers so there was a deputy manager who was nice and very friendly.

    The linen on the beds were very clean and crisp but the outer cover was very grabby and stained and needed either a good wash or changing altogether.

    "On arrival I was told my Maestro card was a problem. When I asked why I was it could wait until the morning. The next day I was confronted by a member of staff(the chef) who was aggresive and told me 'the bank would not accept the card'. Further examination revealed the website I had used to reserve our accommodation has had passed an inaccurate number to the hotel. This left a bad taste. Staff should be trained how the inaccuracies should be dealt with. On the morning of our departure we spoke to the manager and I think he will remedy the problems we drew to his attention. We have planned to stay at the hotel again in a couple of weeks time. I shall be in a better position to make a firm judgement. I shall not use the website again but book directly with the hotel."     Not really a proper vegetarian breakfast on offer, so the management needs to look at that issue in future. Also I appear to have been charged twice so need to sort that out with the hotel. Also very noisy as the night club area was immediately beneath the bedroom floor so could do with some soundproofing.

    Well appointed ensuite-bed linen clean.

    Extremely noisey most of the night due to the 'night club'went on until the early hours.Lack of adequate supply of toilet paper.
