    "Good - apart from the fact that there was a thumping band immediately under our room, this making relaxation difficult. Considered asking for a different room, but decided to put up with it. Suggest not to use this room on "band nights"" (108555679)

    "It was very expensive for the quality of what I got, so I was disappointed. i was expecting more for the price, and given the website write-up. I would have expected to have paid c60% of the amount I did pay for the all round quality. I would stay again, but not at the prices paid" (108637821)

    Check-in amd check-out was efficient

    Mattress was very poor/shower was very weak/room decoration was shabby (wallpaper was peeling)/standard of the cooked food was very low - I ate out two of the three nights I was there

    Car Parking and food was fine.

    No entertainment of any kind, and the breakfast set up was comical trying to serve youself and hold the large lids at the same time was mad.

    "The hotel appears to be quite old fashioned, but without character. The bedrooms are small. This is OK as a stop over hotel." (107229802)

    Hotel was easy to find. Bedroom and ensuite was clean.

    We stayed on a Sunday evening and there was only the main restaurant open. The choice of food was limited and expensive so we opted to eat elsewhere. The bar was not very inviting.

    We had a 2 night golf break, the hotel golf organizer Mike Dicky made sure everything was booked perfectly.

    Very clean and comfortable room. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Leisure facilities were good in the Barracuda Club and were inclusive for hotel guests.

    Some of the towels were past their sell by date and bath towels rather than bath sheets. Only little niggles though. Bar prices expensive.

    Great loacation,Good size car park,staff very helpfull.

    Wedding party being held at the hotel. Certain rooms around the Disco being held were very noisy.

    "Hotel otherwise quite good, it might help if we could have booked D.B.B. on line rather than dinner as an extra." (107562600)

    We booked in then handed a key told the room is up the stairs follow Park House sign.Two old over seventy with cases ect it was rather a long treck to our room, had we known about the lift it would have helped though still a long walk.

    "Wanting 36 hours R & R after arriving from Australia, all I needed was a warm, cozy room. It took 3 complaints to get the heating fixed (sub zero outside) and 3 requests to get the room made up after my first's nights stay (finally done at 2.30pm!!)" (107716648)

    Rubbish skips in car park, lack of signposting, bar not open at 7pm but it was later Poor lighting in some parts, no toilet roll holders or shelves/cupboards in bathroom

    Good sized clean rooms, nice breakfast, helpful staff

    Views from room not very appealing. No replacement refreshments on 2nd day, but could have contacted housekeeping for additional coffee etc. if required

    the room seemed to be one of the less attractive rooms in the hotel which has been my experience on most of the occasions I have booked through active hotels. It seems that some hotels give their worst rooms to those who book at a discount through companies such as active which is disappointing.

    "It was for my mum's 70th birthday, and was such a disappointment." (97057086)

    Close to town centre. Fairly decent breakfast. Pleasant decor and facilities. MOST staff excellent, let down by A MINORITY staff that sadly were anything but excellent.

    Parents in mid 70's with heavy case got left to heave suitcase up stairs on their own. No-one offered to help, or pointed out that there was a lift. I arrived at 9:30am on the Saturday and enquired about check-in. The receptionist was abrupt and unhelpful. We later enquired about tourist information, and were told by the same receptionist in a fairly brief and unhelpful way that she didn't know. On the morning of my sisters departure, she returned from breakfast at 10am to find all the towels removed from her room (check out is by 11). Other guests talking outside windows kept me and my mum awake on hot nights. Mum's hot tap only cold water.Overcharged at checkout although very nicely dealt with on pointing out.

    "Centrally placed, old fashioned sandstone, 3 star hotel in Dumfries. Comfortable rooms and beds decorated to a good standard. Good car parking. Excellent gym and pool. Events run throughout the year. Breakfast buffet was a bit fraught as there were a lot of guests the night we stayed. Needs some internal decorating work in public areas." (97549869)

    the breakfast buffet was rather fraught. no fried eggs or lea and perrins sauce.

    "Enjoyed my stay and the food in the Reivers restaraunt was excellent. Double room was nice and spacious with modern decor and nice LCD telly on the wall. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Only real complaints were the noisy fan in the bathroom and during our meal the staff started rearranging the restaruant to cater for the breakfast. Felt this could have waited 30 mins until we finished our meal." (97419434)

    Nice spacious room with LCD TV on wall. Liked the decor of the room and bathroom was clean with nice powerful shower. Restaraunt and breakfast was excellent. Nice central location close to city center.

    The fan in the bathroom was very noisy and the corridors in the hotel could do with new wallpaper or a lick of paint.

    "The hotel was on the whole quite dirty,the room was supposed to have been cleaned but there was blood on the sheets,the wall lights didn't work and the hospitality tray had not been changed.The room next to us had builders in from 8 in the morning and they were banging shouting and swearing.It is such a shame that such a fantastic chef is wasted on this hotel,there was only one restaurant open but thankfully it was realy good and so clean and pleasent."     the situation of the room not the view

    the inadequate shower the general decline of the hotel decor carpets etc apart from the dining room which was the exception staff and decor poor bar facilities on a Monday night
