    Close to other eating establishments. Bar,reception and cleaning staff were friendly. Decor and cleanliness -good standard. £50 refund on invoice

    External dormer fittment very noisy in wind all night - loss of sleep one night. Lots of steps to climb to room -not informed prior to arrival. Loose tap in basin waggling round -repaired by myself. Sour orange juice in jug quietly brought to attention of staff - no appology - no thanks for infomation. Thick black hair accross bacon rasher. Scrambled egg rubbery 'blue and disgusting every morning. TV ariel lead not in plug- stripped, repaired and refitted by myself. Warm milk requested for child returned scalding hot each time. Dressed crab presented as creamy paste with stacking imprint of shell above. Mattress protector had inadequate thickness covering causing perspiation. Dining room staff very inexperienced or badly trained. Bed - modern 4 poster but very squeeky - Poor in comparison to Sister hotel `The Manor House' West Aukland, Durham - stayed several times on business.

    "Generally very good - quite enjoyed the experience and would certainly be willing to book in this way again as I have in the past." (108154756)

    Staff very friendly. Good bar and food. Rooms small but well appointed and very clean. Breakfast excellent with a wide variety.

    Poor parking. Noise during the night from other rooms. Bed creaked a lot. Charged £165 when agreed price was £160 - not a problem but I wonder why.

    Well appointed room. good service at Hotel reception, evening meal and Breakfast. Very pleased with our short stay.

    excellent breakfast facilities with excellent service.

    very noisy bar running till 2 am in the morning. not acceptable we booked with a quiet weekend in mind.

    Staff were very relaxed, efficient and friendly. Food was good and good value. The room was lovely apart from below.

    Bed was very noisy, it creaked every time you turned over (the frame) the mattress was comfortable.

    Excellent breakfast. Hotel in good position in village, Welcoming bar.

    Ate one night in the bar and one in the brasserie. Not impressed with the food in the brasserie, did not live up to its advertised quality. Not so good as on earlier stays.

    "The standard of accomodation was very good. We paid for a superior room and it certainly met our expectations. Not the cheapest but the service and standard of accomadation reflected this. It was nice to have a choice of eating places (pub grub or Bistro)and the breakfast was lovely." (97390577)

    "We would have liked to know exactly what was meant by a superior room and how it was different from the basic room for £40 per room extra. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful" (97990161)

    Room was spacious and well furnished. We particularly liked the en-suite arrangement of the bathroom,separate from the bedroom.

    "I would not recomend this hotel for anyone who is looking for value for money. I found the staff rude and condescending and was almost accused of lying when i questioned what i had booked and agreed through the on line booking service. I did not stay long enough to have a meal but having been told that 'if we did not hurry up and book we wouldn't get a table anyway' i was hardly likely to." (97510404)

    "Overall a very nice hotel in a good location. Would like to have had a room with a better out look, but to be fair we did book only days before our stay." (99874140)

    Location, nice staff, good breakfast.

    Room was also fire escape for other guests. Toilet flush a bit iffy, Key to get into hotel after lock up time did not fit, had to phone hotel and very nice reception lady had to come down and let us in.

    Excellent,efficient and very helpful staff at all levels throughout the hotel. Room clean and warm with good facilities. Excellent quality food and service in the restaurant and bar.

    Couldn't open the room windows but got round it ok. Did not mention it to reception who would I am sure have sorted it immediately. Dining room furniture adequate but needs to be upgraded to match the quality of the food.

    "We have stayed here before and know the area well. It is an especially attractive part of Britain. The Victoria Hotel, now refurbished, is among the pick of local hotels, although the Lord Crewe is as good and Waren House is better but expensive. The only downside is that, in common with all British locations, you can spend as much in two days as you can for a week in Greece or Portugal." (99399045)

    Spacious room and bathroom, good facilities. Good restaurant/menu.

    I liked the way the bathroom was decorated, the flat screen television, and the location and views from the room window.

    I think our room was the attic, the roof was a bit too low at some points.

    "We know the area well and this is why the Hotel Victoria was booked, having stayed here before. Staff very friendly and an excellent restaurant - makes a night away- very pleasant" (99729892)

    Very convenient and a good restaurant. Room very clean with a nice view

    The fact that the room allocated didn't have a shower, so we couln't wash our hair. This I consider poor when all rooms are a standard price.
