    Wonderful location I would have liked to have seen it in daylight the grounds appear to be stunning. Staff very friendly and excellent service levels. Breakfast was superb, if you like traditional or more healthy choices, it was there for everyone. Great value as it was included within the room rate.

    Only downside was the pricing of the Restaurants meals but I had picked this up from other visitors. I didn’t want to venture elsewhere so I stuck to a bar meal which was reasonably priced, not cheap but just about acceptable.

    Character of hotel

    My bedside lamp wasn't plugged in...not a big fault but it meant that I had to call maintenance as I didn't know why it wasn't working.

    The setting is fabulous and inside more so. We looked around the gardens and found them to be beautiful. Lovely corner bath in the bedroom. Lovely food, beautifully presented. Very professional staff.

    Your room: Although the lighting added to the ambience, it was a little too dim to be able to see much in the room. We asked at reception for a remote control for the TV, but did not receive one. My husband was most upset that his copy of the "Sun" didn't arrive!

    Beautiful settings. Lovely building. Excellent restaurant. Mostly excellent staff.

    Very poor signage on approach to hotel (the sign on external road junction was overgrown). Poor car park, potholed and dusty. Receptionist did not explain that we would need an exit code for the car park, even though we were there for more than one night.

    Fantastic building, full of character. The restaurant service and the evening meal were excellent.

    Although the room was very good, my bed consisted of 2 single matresses pushed together and there was a terrible dip in the middle. The breakfast was a hot buffet but it was only warm.

    Real mix up over a meal order, The group ordered but one meal was incorrect when delivered. It then transpired that the fish want not available but by then all the other meals had been eaten. We were given two bottles of wine between 7 which went someway to compensate but it did spoil the meal.

    Prompt action when fault with bath plug occurred. Food was wonderful. All staff very friendly and helpful. Setting is fabulous and very restful. Rooms were lovely, we were grateful to have been given another room which was superb.

    I can't even fault the weather.

    "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the period atmosphere was excellent, the dining room and dinner was also excellent. We enjoyed our breakfast but there was less attention to our needs than in the evening and staff availability was less than satisfactory. The grounds are wonderful and in October the colours were magnificent. Certainly no ordinary hotel We would not hesitate to stay again." (97662221)

    The period setting and the excellent corner bath in the bedroom. The grounds were also excellent and we enjoyed walking around the evening we arrived and the next morning before we left.

    Nothing, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay again if we are in the area.

    "We were told we could check in at 3pm, which we did however I was made to wait until 4.30 in reception with no apology not even a complimentary drink, while our room was being cleaned. Like I say the room had a very bad strong smell of smoke in there which we were not pleased about. We ordered a pot of tea from the bar while we were made to wait after 20 minutes my husband went to chase the drinks to find from the bar staff that they had forgotten to order it, again no apology was made!! The overall stay was ok but it didn't run as smoothly as I would have expected from such an expensive hotel." (99317660)

    We found it a most enjoyable experience.I started my working life at coombe 52years ago as a herdsman for J.G.Gray,and so it was trip down memory lane, Iwasnt dissapointed. Ican reccomend the hotel and park to anyone. We will definitley return yours sincerely Tony Fletcher

    It was like a dream absolutely perfect for a romantic night away. Friendly staff and wonderful scenery. Reccomend to anyone. Would jump at the chance to go back and spend more time there especially to upgrade on our next time there.

    Nothing absolutely perfect..only thing was I was hoping to see some spirts..not being the alcoholic kind.

    However there were a few points on the decoration of the room, e.g. the ceiling had a few patches of paint in a slightly different colour. The decorative cord edging around an alcove was not attached for 2 feet. The shelf in the bathroom was sloping such that items were in danger of falling into the sink. While these were not significant they should have been fixes as a matter of good maintenance in what they themselves class as 5 star accommodation.
