    "Poor value for money. The meal we had in the Orangery was not at all good value. Most of the staff aprt from the one on reception were very friendly." (108723366)

    The porter was excellent

    The chap on reception who booked us in was appaling. He made us feel like something he had scraped of his foot.

    The ground walks were fantastic as was the castle. The new member of staff that started during our stay in the Library bar was a great example of customer focus and willingness to help - unfortunately his name escapes me but deserves special praise.

    Some of the staff appear to lack customer focus ie if further drinks where required and re stocking of the Library bar (just saying we have none left in the fridge is not good enough)Not the new guy ! The size the food portions in the dungeon restuarant where very small ie the wild boar dish.

    Peter was amazing!

    The only negative experience we had was transportation to and from the main city Edinburgh. The private-hire cab service that is recommended by the hotel, denied us a late night ride around midnight back to the hotel, because they were too busy. Any hotel that is aspiring to be 5 stars needs a better recommendation or transportation service themselves.

    our room, breakfast, the staff and the hydro-pool

    road in hotel grounds, could have been clearer there was an additional charge for the hydro pool

    Tolle Atmosphäre, ruhig, reizvolle Umgebung, freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal, ordentliche und stilvoll eingerichtete Zimmer mit guter Ausstattung.

    Die Bereiche außerhalb der Zimmer, also z.B die Flure könnten eine kleine Überarbeitung gebrauchen, da sie im Vergleich zu den Zimmern z.T. leicht "abgewohnt" wirken. Dies war allerdings kein wirklicher Störfaktor.

    This is the first hotel in the past year that I can say that it was truly excellent. It is my intention to return with my wife for our anniversary in September.

    "I have always enjoyed this Castle. I have had the pleasure in staying in several of the rooms available. Each room is unique and tastefully appointed. The grounds are truly relaxing and in good weather it is a pleasure to be able to follow the well established walks on the Castle grounds. Be sure to bring your swim wear as there is a spa in the lower corner of the Castle. I enjoy the use of the sauna and the foot spa. During my next trip I plan on treating myself to one of the many treatments that are on offer." (97134120)

    The ambiance of the Castle is its most compelling feature. The views from any room are good. The breakfast was timely, well presented, and most of all, Scottish.

    The heating system was hard to adjust to.

    "Beautiful hotel but in a few places needs a bit of tlc. If you are wanting to dine in the main restaurant check availability before you book. we were disappointed we couldnt get in but admittedly we didnt check. service was generally very good but in the evening in the orangery was very slow! no mini bar in room was a suprise. but the room was beautiful and the food was very good."     theme of the rooms, lovely hotel in great surroundings.

    empty minibar in room, couldn't get hold of room service for bottle of champagne in our room. wallpaper was coming off in places although we appreciate it is a very old & lovely castle i think this let it down in what was originally a very expensive room.

    "A hotel that I would recommend to any one. We travel all around the world and this is the first hotel that we have stayed at that we would readily recommend to all." (99682828)

    The whole experience of walking through the entrance to the hotel was a truly magical time. All of the staff including the restaurants are extremely warm and friendly. I explained to the hotel staff prior to arriving that I wanted to arrange a surprise renewal of our wedding vows. They were so helpful and the porter even doubled up as a photographer to help it a very special day.

    "This was a special weekend as we celebrated our silver wedding anniversary. We really could not have chosen anywhere more spectacular. We stayed in the Cedar room which was spacious with beautiful views. I must admit we thought we going to stay in one of the themed rooms as that is what I had booked, but we really did like the accommodation we were given (except for the bed which was as plain as it could be, not the four poster we were expecting!). The staff were wonderful and friendly. Then there was the restaurant in the dungeon! That was amazing! The staff, surroundings and food were second to none. Overall this was an amazing weekend that we will remember always and hopefully will visit again." (99342741)

    The Castle not only looked stunning from the outside but also beautiful on the inside.

    "Hotel in general was fine. Bar prices were expensive. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The Spa could have been better. I had an express manicure and pedicure - nail polish started coming off after 12 hours and never really dried. The member of staff who attended to me although she was very friendly did not appear to be expeienced. The cost was " (99824016)
