    "Enjoyable and comfortable." (108644231)

    Friendly staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Room very homely and spacious. Comfortable bed.

    Steps to reception and between the two houses that comprise the hotel make carriage of luggage difficult and make the hotel unsuitable for disabled people. Bathroom had shower only, no bath.

    annex had no lift and stayed on top floor. Had not been informed of this or the need to walk outside in the rain to ge from one building to another

    "The hotel served our needs, but the contrast between it and the hotel we stayed the following nights elsewhere in Somerset could not have been starker. There everything we expected in terms of service and accommodation was available. " (107118117)

    The staff were doing their best to be obliging, but seemed to be under considerable pressure and there was clearly a communication gap with many of their guests.

    The hotel is tired, badly in need of maintenance on its sash windows, which either don't open, or don't close properly. The absence of porters or a lift made moving suitcases to the second floor of an annexe a considerable challenge.

    Good position and free parking. Also rate included breakfast, whereas a lot of central Bristol hotels charge extra for this (and for parking).

    Cooked breakfast over the weekend was buffet/cloche and barely warm--eggs stood for too long, so not good. Breakfast was freshly cooked on Monday morning and much better.

    Hotel room was very comfortable. We slept very well and found the bed very comfortable. Hotel is located at a convenient spot within Clifton village.

    Only disappointment was the shower, it did not seem to have much power in the water supply but everything else was perfect.

    Good sized room with excellent refurbished en suite. Bed comfy and good hospitality tray.

    Badly positioned TV with poor reception. Ground flooor room therefore quite noisey from comings and goings.

    The furniture was not constructed properly so the wardfrobe door and drawer locked against each other. The bathroom was dusty - when we put the bathmat down a cloud of 'dust' rose. On the saturday at breakfast, service was a little slow, in as. Much as there was little hot breakfast available at 09:10 and not much apparent effort to replenish. Sunday was much better.

    Rooms were light, spacious and clean. Staff were very polite and friendly

    There was a very unpleasant smell in the reception area which was present the whole length of our stay. This was rather offputting. Fortunately it was not in other parts of the hotel. Breakfast was 7.30 - 9.30 am. This we took to mean arrival for breakfast could be between those times. However, we felt 'rushed' because staff were noisily putting away china and clearing tables around us. We felt this could have been achieved in a quieter and less intrusive way. The main fault however was that the fresh coffee ran out!

    "A once elegant hotel in a good location with free off street parking. However with the most uncomfortable dinning room chairs and an antiquated bar in the cafe style dinning room. Our bed was uncomfortable." (107985634)

    Good location, free on site parking improved the value for money aspect.

    Uncomfortable bed, the hotel is tired and needs renovation.

    "We were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel as it was one of the cheapest ones that we looked at - it was our wedding anniversary but we were on a budget so didn't know what to expect, but it was perfect and we loved being so close to the restaurants and boutiques of Clifton." (107688972)

    Very friendly and helpful staff - even allowing us to leave our car in car park after we had checked out. Cheerful, attentive staff in breakfast restaurant. Room very clean and modern. Well equipped with tea, biscuits, etc.

    Hotel food was nice and most staff were good - good use of internet access and sopacious room

    Receptionist was extremely rude and tried to make me pay for my room twice - will be writing to the management about this as was very upset. Also no catering for children - no kids meals and no squash at the bar which was disappointing. Also no childrens tv channels even though cbeebies is freeview. And on advertisement it stated all rooms had sky tv which they did not.

    Good location for Clifton/Cotham area of Bristol

    Buffet breakfast quality was poor. I breakfasted at about 8:30. All the hot food had been kept warm for ages and was only just warm. When put on to cold plates, it became almost instantly cold. The toaster was the slowest toaster I have ever come across in a hotel.

    Nice clean room, good bathroom and good facilities. Very nice breakfast too with lots of variety.

    Window would not open more than a few inches, got very warm at night with no fan or air conditioning to keep the temperature down.

    bedroom very noisy at night from road and pubs turnout, would ask for quiet room next time. quilt cover stained, and drain in shower very smelly.

    The staff were tereffic

    The hotel itself seems to be out of the ark, everything is old and this could do with being modernised. The cold water in the bathroom came out scolding hot for the first 15 seconds. The hotel itself was stiffling hot, you could only open the old wooden windows approx 4-6 inches which did not help much. Only ate breakfast here which was self service buffet butg was very good.

    Excellent location

    Very noisy[semi basement room]. Noise from bar overhead in the early hours and morning[inadequate insulation between floors. Ants in the room.

    "Although the flat screen was missing from our room and the sash window was broken so rattled through the night and the TV in the other room had no reception.     The room was and decor of the hotel was very nice.

    The decor needed tidying and certain elements were scruffy.

    "Location of hotel is charming, but on a very busy road, so if traffic first thing in the morning bothers you, ask for a room at the back. If you don't like climbing stairs up to a room, this isn't a good place. But if you don't mind, it is really lovely and oldy-woldy. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice, great staff. Dinnertime in the dining room looked very dismal, we arrived and were told there was no table for 3, and the staff person said she had no idea when there would be a table. She let 3 adults just walk away. But the rest of our time there was excellent." (97072096)

    Hotel is very charming, in a lovely location of Bristol. We had a family room (3 people) and it was roomy and clean. Breakfast was great, staff couldn't have been more helpful.

    Dining room at dinner time. Not very customer service orientated.

    "Very cold afternoon and we had to keep our coats on for 2 hours until room became warm enough. The power of the shower was very poor and on siute very cramped, also no heating on in this so too cold to shower before we went out in the evening. Room would have been too small for longer visit, no chest of drawers to put clothes, only hanging space. Staff at breakfast good, attentive and quick to clear up." (97647328)
