    "The best way to describe this hotel is as a cross between Pontins and Fawlty Towers, Basil Fawlty would be proud of some of the staff here! The bed linen, curtains and decor look like it came straight from a pontins chalet in the seventies, as did the terrible bed which looked like two singles pushed together to make a double. The radiator in the room did not work and was replaced with a convector heater which was just adequate, The bed linen was not changed during the week, Three times staff entered the room without knocking as they changed the towels, which were changed every day. The bathroom was that hot you could bake potatoes in there, the shower only dribbled and thats if you could squeeze the hot water out of it after 10 mins, in which time the bathroom floor was soaked. The handle on the toilet was broken which made it difficult to flush, Asked twice for the bath to be cleaned, in the end we done it ourselves, This is the only hotel i know which pinch your soap and shampoo out of the bathroom (we always take our own soap shampoo etc). The first night we were there the radio alarm clock went off at 1:30 am, and on our last night after the cleaner had been in all the lights, the tv and the heater had been turned on, the window opened and the alarm reset to go off again at 1:30 am. The soap, shampoo and toilet rolls were all removed. Despite this we would stay there again but would not pay more than £30 a night, this could be a really nice place to stay with a little training of the staff, and minor faults put right, I have stayed in far worse places for a lot more cost, " (108407019)

    Quick check in, clean, towels changed daily,nice views over a park, polite and helpful receptionist. decent menu.

    bed linen not changed, bathroom floods when having a shower, broken toilet cistern, bath and sink not cleaned, Cleaning staff need training, hotel run on a shoe string.

    "Gave me a single instead of double, i moved, then had no bath, by which time i couldn't be bothered to move again. TV was hanging off the wall, floor looked unhoovered, cobwebs on the ceiling. One day nobody cleaned my room or gave me teabags and milk. Shower took about ten minutes to heat up, heaters never did ! Didn't know how to get the room warm. First time i stayed here the bath was filthy despite my asking three times, i eventually bought a scourer and did it myself. I thought this was just a glitch, so i booked again. " (108188051)

    Responded well, to my issues...but I could have complained about a lot more than i did.

    Generally shabby, would have been on the phone constantly to reception just to find out how things worked. Decided to grin and bear it instead and not go back.

    Staff helpful, room nice and quiet, breakfast good, ensuite shower-room generally very good, sheets and towels immaculate, room would have been very pleasant if cleaner

    Shower needed cleaning, carpet needed hoovering, bedspread a bit grubby, kettle didn't work.

    "For £35 for a double room (booking online) it was what you'd expect! But if you'd paid their £95 standard rate.... It was dated, tiles missing in the bathroom (room25), but they did have TV, tea/coffee facilities and a cheap bar downstairs." (108716898)

    Cheap, 24hr bar, close to town.

    Snotty woman in front desk, dated decor in bedrooms, noisy cleaning staff.

    we like the hotel close to what we want from our visit to coventry

    "Generally I would say they have let a good hotel go to ruin. I booked here because in the past the hotel had a good reputation but I would not recommend it now. It requires a lot of care and attention. So maybe that is what is reflected and missing in the cheap price." (108414582)

    The staff were polite and courteous. The breakfast was excellent value. Towels and sheets were clean. Very handy for the City centre.

    The cleaning of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired. Especially the toilet and bathroom. First impressions count and this one was awful!! After complaining they did come and clean it but not properly. Leaking shower and bath, lightbulbs missing. Not even the basic care has been taken.

    We booked on line and secured a very good price/room.

    We were dissapointed with the fact that other than breakfast there was no availabilty for food. The bathroom supplies were extremely basic, just soap. The beds were not very comfortable, and the staff, although courtious, were not very friendly.

I booked room with breakfast as indicated in the booking through on line and the rates quoted was with breakfast but uppn check out I was ask to pay for breakfast. Iwas there with my daughter and a relative to send my daughter to a nearby university. Tq

    very dirt toilet dark brown staining in bowl.No bedspread in bed just sheet and blanket. As a female staying on my own was not given any information about breakfast or where it would be served.No fire escape information in room.

    My member staff had to pay the bill on departure which i had already paid with our business visa card online, aparatley the information didnt get passes through to the hotel and we were not made aware? this caused inconvienience for my staff and myself.

    Quick check in process

    The heating/radiator in the room was broken and we froze all night!! General cleanliness of the room was poor and there was so much noise from other people in the hotel all night. Would not return again.

    Very friendly, very pleasant staff. Clean sheets and towels, great to have en suite and a good tv and tea making facilities. I've stayed in much worse !

    Had to ask three times to have the bath cleaned. They finally sent someone up and i still had to clean it myself. It was very dirty. Clean, but could do with hoovering under the bed.

    Reception was always manned.

    Bathroom was very dirty. The shower flooded the bathroom if it was running for more than 2 minutes. The walls were so thin that you could hear coughing, etc, as if they were in the same room. This is the only time I have looked at a bed and really not wanted to get into it because the whole hotel was so manky. I can't say anything about the breakfast because we chose not to risk it.

    Close to City Centre and Rail Station. Reasonable car park. Reasonable accommodation rates.

    Restaurant closed on first night - "the chef has just phoned in(at 19.20 hours) to say he is not coming in". Had to ask for room to be serviced at 15.30 hours

    The staff were friendly and helpful

    You generally get what you pay for at £35 - but it is not good and I have stayed in much better accommodation for this money. The whole hotel has a run-down atmosphere. The room and stairways are in need of decoration and the stair treads are dangerous. The window catch did not work on a window overlooking a noisy road. I had to remake the bed since it was made as a strait-jacket for a midget! The room is surface clean but not if you look too closely! I did not stay for the breakfast!

    Excellent booking procedure, efficient booking system, 24 hour desk at the hotel, extremely good value for money with the discounts, friendly welcoming staff, very good room facilities and clean.

    Hotel was a little dated.

    "The place could do with some maintenance. The helpfulness of the staff made up for any inconveniences. Location is perfect for anyone with work related to the Techno Centre of the university as it is within a few minutes walk. I will most probably stay again in the future." (108901779)

    The staff are very helpful and friendly. They immediately changed my room when drunk occupants of adjacent room arrived at midnight and I was hoping to get some sleep before a day of meetings. Excellent location.

    Could do with maintenance. Funny smell in the reception area! People in adjacent room arrived drunk at midnight and put their TV on a music channel full blast. It was a night club in my bed....

    "IT SUFFICED OUR NEEDS FOR THE WEEKEND STAY" (107803710)

    SOMEONE HAD OBVIOUSLY COME INTO OUR ROOM TO TIDY AND CHANGE TOWELS WHILST WE WERE AT THE WEDDING ON SATURDAY BUT UNFORTUNATELY AS WE HAD NO HOT WATER WE DIDNT EVEN GET TO USE THE TOWELS!!

    WHEN WE ARRIVED FROM PLYMOUTH TO COVENTRY WE WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE NO HOT WATER AS THE BOILER HAD BROKEN - A GOOD START SEEING WE HAD A WEDDING TO ATTEND THE NEXT DAY!! LUCKILY THERE WAS A KETTLE IN OUR ROOM WHICH WAS BOILED CONTINUOUSLY TO GET WARM WATER TO WASH OUR HAIR!! THERE WAS NEVER ANYONE IN SIGHT AT RECEPTION AND YOU HAD TO ORDER A COOKED BREAKFAST FOR THE MORNING BUT WE NEVER SAW ANYONE!!
