    "I did have a comfortable night at this hotel and will use this internet booking system again. All information was given accurately, I feel that the points I've mention above could be attended to quite easily." (97103883)

    The greeting was nice, the room was clean, the staff were willing and helpful. The breakfast service was good

    The TV in the room could have been of better quality and reception was not good. The cooked breakfast itself could have been prepared with better care, a lump of scrambled egg does not help the appetite, it takes very little extra time to heat it in a pan than to microwave it!!

    The room was very clean and staff were very friendly.

    Wi Fi was not up to stratch but ok. No heating in the room which made for a very cold stay.

    Friendly, helpful staff. A comfortable room. An excellent price. It was also one of the best hotel breakfast's I've had.

    Excellent room, very comfortable bed and staff were very friendly.

    Shower was very weak and dripped rather than showered. Also it's temperature was controlled by mixing the hot and cold water. One problem - my taps regularly seized up and wouldn't move :-(

    Value for money and location

    I had an experience where I was bitten quite a number fo times during the night. When I rung up the Manager later, I was told that because the window was open I had been bitten by flying ants. No apolgy.

    Room was cleaned every day, towels and bed linen were changed daily, staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast which was inclusive was excellent, the tea/coffee and milk was plentiful and we could bring our dog which was brilliant, overall a great break, enjoyed it all.

    Shower attached to taps 0n bath, a more modern power shower would be better.

    It was close location to my conference venue and very close to local shops and amenities....the facilities were clean.i enjoyed the breakfast

    generally although clean the decor and furnishings are worn and tatty and need refreshing. bed was uncomfortable due to matress springs sticking through.

    "I booked this hotel because it was near to where I was working and I try to stay at local, independent hotels rather than faceless travel lodge types. However, compared to those kind, this hotel is quite tired looking and has a slightly shabby air about it, although everything was clean and the service was good. The main reason I wouldn't stay here again is because it was noisy being right next to the main road and the bed was uncomfortable." (97105555)

    The staff were friendly and helpful - my remote control for the TV didn't work and this was sorted out straight away. I ordered food on room service and this was brought quickly and was nice and hot.

    The mattress was the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced in a hotel! It sagged in the middle and I could feel the springs - time to get a new one. My room faced onto the main road and it was quite noisy with lots of buses going past, but not a lot the hotel can do about that.

    location is great

    Found a tshirt down the side of bed that wasnt ours! Breakfast was ok. Rooms need update. Rain came throug the window and nearly wet suitcase

    "As this appeared to be the only hotel in the area which could be booked online,we had no alternative. It was adequate for one nights stay but not to be repeated. The reception area is so small and not very well lit I guess the staff were doing a good job with the facilities they had." (99857312)

    It was near to our venue which was Dudley Castle

    The shower did not work ,it would not stay on the wall and had to be held. We were not given a remote for the T.V. only after asking at reception were we given one the next morning. Very stale smell throughout the hotel (BEDROOM WAS OK), we needed some refreshment on arrival about 5pm, but were told there was none available, only after presuasion as my husband is a diabetic were we able to have a sandwich (only cheese available) as I have an intolerance to dairy products...nothing for me! we were due to go out before 7pm so could not wait for the dining room to open. The lift is very antiquated and too small for luggage and more than 1 person (we are not big people and only had 1 piece of luggage.) The bedroom is in desperate need of decoration.

    "Because the windows were sash, rather than double glazed it was very noisy, particularly as most of the rooms faced the busy main road. I must say that that the quality of the breakfast food was very good although I ordered toast on the first morning and it never arrived. Of course, I should have mentioned this to the waitress but when another customer ordered something, I thought my order might come at the same time. When it didn't I did not have the time to order agin as I had to leave. Having said that, excellent poached eggs on the second morning." (99351286)

    The nearness to my destination

    Although they had just introduced a no-smoking policy, the tobacco smell from the previous years lingered strongly. The shower was not good: it only produced cold water and, although I was advised to let it run, hadn't produced even mildly warm water after five minutes.

    "I would have liked to have known more about the hotel being haunted.although i realise this could put a lot of people off booking. In the hotel itself I think that they should have used the fact that many famous people have stayed at the hotel in its younger days. it would have been nice to see pictures of the famous guests on the walls with small bits of info about them their acts and when they stayed at the hotel. also the fact that the hotel has been featured on the programme most haunted with photos of the experience and photos of supposed ghosts/spirits and stories about the ghosts that are supposed to haunt the hotel. All in all i think the hotel has not used its famous links and ghost stories to its full potential." (99862112)

    We chose to stay at the hotel again as it is welcoming,the building has character and overall is inviting. The main areas are colourful and of warm decor. The position of the hotel allowed us to visit friends and attend an event near by. Tasty breakfast, served by friendly staff.

    Felt our room was not clean enough and some updating of bathroom applicances is required. This is due to the age of the property.

    I liked the price. Cooked breakfast was excellent

    Remote didn't work of the tv. Croisants and cheeses were on the breakfast menu but were not available. The bar had no tonic water!

    "Poorly stocked bar (no tonic water!!) No croissants or cheese available for the continental breakfast (they were on the list) and what was available was lacking in variety and quality. Most worrying was the good luck comment I got from the driver who dropped me off outside the hotel! There was an altercation in the nearly empty bar in the evening which seemed to be between a customer and the staff. I think if there hadn't been a friend staying at the same hotel I would have felt rather vulnerable." (99667235)

    Staff were extremely obliging, even took us down to the cellars on a ghost hunt late at night and were still up for work bright and early next morning. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

    Did not get much sleep mainly to other idiotic guests shouting and talking loud at early hours of morning, but you can't blame the hotel for that. My sister however, who was further down the corridor did not get woken once.

    It was a nice hotel, nicely laid out & large, with good prices & inclusive breakfast.

    "Missed the car park as it was not well signed. Staff pleasant and attentive. Early breakfast ordered for room, would have been better to have a pot of tea instead of a cup, which was luke warm on arrival so used room facilities. Milk in a jug is easier to pour than from a cup. A note of apology would have gone a long way to explaining why the breakfast ordered differed from that delivered. Fruit yoghurt not plain, mandarin segments not grapefruit and frosties instead of country store cereal. Facilities were adequate for our needs but I will not re-book for next year." (99039145)

    Room was very spacious and food in the restaurant, at dinner, very good. Waitress very pleasant and attentive.

    Room smelt of stale smoke. Main bathroom light not working. TV reception abysmal, ariel worked best when unplugged from wall and laid on floor!!!!

    "This was a good Hotel for a short break. The restaurant food was good and reasonably priced. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.     "Arrived early but was not allowed to book in un til the appointed time. restaurant was cold food adequate. Room not very warm and quite poor. Noisy,(see above). The lights that did work were very dim. TV picture was very dark and could not be improved by adjusting.There were very loud drunken arguments going on in corridor late at night for 30 mins, but no-one seemed to care. In general the Hotel seemed very tired as did the staff. I would have liked to have known that there would be so much noise going on." (99689021)

    Reasonably easy to get to the venue

    Shabby decoration, two lights in room and one in bathroom not working. Noisy fan in bathroom. TV working but broken. Room quite small. Lots of noise from below and outside, even at 2.00 a.m. Had to use ear plugs to get any sleep! Widows were not double galzed. Heating barely adequate in room.

    I thought the staff were very pleasant and made our stay very enjoyable. The food served was excellent every meal

    Was moved into two different rooms due to a leakage in the first. No central heating, room was very very cold!

    "We found it necessary to change the booking requirements at quite short notice, but your staff were pleasant and helpful. All staff in the hotel were of a similar atitude and we were very pleased. The only problem was, on returning to the hotel at about 2300 the reception desk was closed with no indication of where the night porter was.     "Generally speaking, the hotel accommodation was good. Apart from the shower, the accommodation was good - clean and tidy. Food was nicely cooked. Tea and coffee facilities in the room were good.     Breakfast was very good and the staff served promptly and politely. There was a good choice. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. Ample parking.

    The shower - it was just a shower over a bath, which made getting the water temperature correct more difficult. Water pressure was OK. There was nowhere to hang my clothes up in the bathroom, and no where to put my toiletries bag. The shelf over the sink was too narrow. Also the street light glared in the room all night. It would have been helpful to have a dark blind to cut out the light.

    Roominess, space, character, location, parking

    Beds could have been a bit firmer, but was too tired to notice. Had a good nights sleep anyway. Decor possibly a little on the shaded side for some people.
