    Bar and resturant was excellent and well priced. Room was of good size and cleanliness.

    Overall appearance of hotle and its history and general facilities. Food also was reasonable value with breakfast of excellent value and quality. Good stock of drinks within bar area and good outside facilities

    Condition of room whilst OK needed some repairs and television was impossible to watch. Fan noise from kitchen was also a little unpleasent.

    "If you want modern,contemporary surroundings then this hotel is not for you. It is an Inn that has been around for hundreds of years and has been furnished and decorated in keeping with its history. The rooms are comfortable, rustic and charming and the variety of cooked breakfast options was excellent given the relatively small amount of money I had paid for the room. Value for money was excellent. " (107366183)

    Room 1 large with a comfortable bed. Real ale in the Inn. Large car park. Surrounded by lovely countryside. Rustic and charming.

    Staff appeared in short supply. Guest reception covered by the sole bar tender who was very busy due to a warm afternoon that had attracted passing trade. More staff arrived when kitchen opened at 6pm. Cooked breakfast delicious once it had arrived but this took some 35 minutes. Had I been a business traveller I would have had to leave on an empty stomach. I am prepared to accept that this was a one-off. Maybe someone had to go to the shop to get some eggs!

    Spacious hotel in a scenic area. Friendly staff. Great bed, duvet and pillows!

    Not enough history of the hotel readily available. The Chef needs to go on a training course on how to cook and what food to buy. The menu did not reflect what you got on your plate. The room was cold on arrival. The kettle only worked if you had enough water in it,otherwise there wass a dodgy connection. No flannels supplied. Directions to the hotel was poor and the knowledge of the area by staff was poor.

    Staff very accommodating. Quiet, clean and comfortable room. Bed and pillows extremely comfortable!

    No bad points except perhaps a small amount of redecorating needed where light fittings have been changed and pictures removed from walls etc.

    Room was warm and food was good. The waiting staff were friendly.

    The Receptionist was a bit abrupt. The room was beneath a stairwell which creaked badly when people went up and down. The TV remote did not work and the TV was so small it was difficult to see the screen from the bed.

    "I must admit to have been rather surprised at the quality of this hotel. I booked due to its location, so close the Frilford Heath Golf Club and didn’t expect very much from the pictures on this web and the price of only £50 for a double with single occupancy. On arrival I was pleasantly surprised. I was given a room at the top of the hotel in a roof conversion. The room was huge, very clean well equipped with wide screen LCD TV, Stereo, sofa etc. Would defiantly visit again." (97515936)

    "The hotel is in a rural location and is very quiet. The pub and restaurant had a good atmosphere and a good menu. The staff were very helpful organising a taxi for us and also looking after us during our stay. The hotel is only about 8 miles from Oxford." (97884866)

    "I found you on the web site & made my booking without any problems. Found the hotel comfortable & staff very friendly. I did find the map, on line, not very good & got a little lost & had to ask someone where you were. I would stay again & will tell friends about you." (97243427)

    Liked having a bath & shower in the bathroom. Towels were a good size. Plus TV & tea making bits. A comfortable room.

    Only complaint would have liked the heating to come on in the room about 6.00am. Radiators did not get warm at any time. As from overseas recently I like it warm, but I was not cold at all.

    "Country location with easy access and good parking. The room, albeit number one, was warm spacious,welcoming and impecably prepared,the ensuite bathroom could have been larger! The restaurant provided a wide choice,the staff were very pleasant, the food and we sampled was good and good value. Breakfast, full English by choice, was freshly prepared and very good.     "We only used accomodation for one night and it was fine. The bar and restaurant staff were helpful and the food was of a good standard.     "I have stayed at this accommodation several times and it is very clean and comfortable with good food provided, however as a business traveller I am disapointed that the last order for food is 9.00pm but more concerned that a cooked breakfast is only available to eat after 7.30am this making travel more difficult as traffic volume increases significantly.     "The standard of food, bar service, menu and drinks choice was excellent throughout: the dinner and breakfast I ate were top class, staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. I will stay again - but I hope you've improved your bathrooms by then!" (97093079)

    It was welcoming, warm and friendly: the bar and dining area - especially the bar, with the open fireplace - is excellent.

    The drainage in the sink in the bathroom was very slow: I thought the bathroom was, generally, not as 'nice' as I might have expected for the price. However, the shower was good.

    "Generally it was warm, clean and welcoming. However, we had an evening meal on the Sunday night. I went for the safe option and had a rustic burger which was OK but my wife had a butternut squash lasangne which was swimming in oil and only had one small piece of squash in it." (97257856)

    It was clean, warm and spacious.

    Bed was not very comfortable. You could feel the springs, especially on one side. Shower took ten minutes to get warm. Toilet did not flush properly.

    "This inn is perfect for a short break in our opinion. Close to Oxford but in rural settings. There were so many choices on the menu and the food was so good that we were tempted to stay another night just to try out some different dishes.     "Having stayed at a number of Old English Inns we have always found them to be excellent value for money. The accommodation is always clean and comfortable, many of the inns being in old character buildings full of charm and history. The staff are helpful and polite and the food is to a high standard.     It was a lovely old hotel set in a quiet and peaceful country location. The room had loads of character and was very clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and attentive and the food was very good. It was just what we were looking for.

    The hotel was in a pretty location, with lovely grounds and views

    Nothing really, although the room was dusty in places (bottoms of furniture) however this didn't detract from our enjoyment, the bed was spotless and immensely comfortable.

    The fact that it was a pub! The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

    The room was above the kitchen and the extractor fans - whilst they were not a major problem, were annoying at times (e.g. when they were first switched on in the morning, they would wake you up.)

    "A satisfactory stay but we, and other guests, did feel that it was overpriced for what it was. Far too few staff waiting on at breakfast such that we had a long wait for our cooked breakfast.     It was very close to our friends' home. Good sized room. Nice quiet location.

    Service at breakfast very slow, toast never did arrive. Peeling wallpaper on the bedroom ceiling, 15 inch or so tear in the duvet cover. Overpriced.

    "We were greeted by helpful staff who carried bags to our room. The room was large and well appointed. The four poster bed was comfortable. other furnishings were functional and gave us a separate sitting ares. Good bath/shower en suite.Staff were all helpful polite and attentive.
