    the pics in the online add did not in any way reprsent the Hotel. the room was small the window would only open 2inches, the radiator was on full blast which made the room uncomfortably hot, the shower curtain was not long enough to prevent water from wetting the floor,the TV was a very small 11 inch portable with poor reception via indoor aerial,the evening meal served on small side plate very poorly presented very small portions, breakfast child portions I left table to obtain some marmalade less than one min and rerturned to find my table cleared dispite my news paper specticals and a fresh cup of coffee being on the table. And just incase you ask no I will not be staying at any more of your Hotels. However I will be making enquiries to the AA as to what criteria they used to rate the Hotel and when they last checked it out.

    Close proximity to centre of town.

    Hotel very outdated needs a complete overhaul. Bed hard and old. Curtains torn. Cobwebs on ceiling. bedding faded and blanket washed out. Staff curt and unfriendly.

    "A hotel with a lot of potential that needs a makeover. We didn't try the hotel's rather ordinary-looking dinner menu but found two excellent restaurants in town - Ambiente in the main square (best tapas ever!) and Tui's very close to the hotel (very good Thai food and special offer on Tuesdays)."     The hotel is imposing from outside and has a nice outlook. The room and bathroom were large with plenty of hot water available. The cooked breakfast arrived quite quickly and hot.

    The hotel and our room were probably last decorated about 15 years ago. No hairdryer in the room and the TV remote control did not work. Staff not particularly welcoming.

    satisfactory breakfast. bed comfortable

    hotel generally scruffy.some chips in the lounge on the carpet still there next morning. many carpets with holes in. furniture in bedroom chipped and decorations poor.

    Pleasant staff

    No lift - No Porterage (up to the second floor ) - badly worn stair carpet - Stail lighting switched off - Scuffed paintwork - NO room telephone (promised). Dirty windows - TWIN beds hard together (unable to adjust covers) - Television ready for skipping; the only socket is beside the bed head, with a short cable on it. Picture fading and colour balance wrong. Remote control broken. Bathroom water barely warm - Breakfast slow to appear and small portions - Metal tea-pot and milk jug FILTHY ! - etc. etc.

    A comfortable hotel with outstanding views. The dining room, the breakfast, and the service were excellent.

    Only one: soap dispensers in the bathroom only just managed to dispense, making life particularly difficult when taking a shower.

    staff were friendly and helpful. Room was big, clean and warm. Service at breakfast was very efficient.

    Breakfast was a bit disappointing -only 1 rasher of bacon and half a tomato - other places we've stayed have had much better breakfasts! Waited a while to be served in the bar - the poor receptionist seemed to be doing everything - she did apologize for the delay. Some parts of the hotel looked a bit "tired" - carpets frayed, seating covers split etc - communal areas. We did also notice that staff propped fire doors open with used towels when cleaning rooms.... Parking was difficult as there was a coach in the carpark.

    within easy access to east coast

    bathroom needs upgrading,room too hot,on top floor couldnt move us to lower floor, ate in restaraunt for evening meal but ran out of meal we wanted and sweet had run out but breakfast very good.no lift.stair carpet could do with replacing.

    Nice old building with a vertain charm. The room was okan bathroom likewise.

    Breakfast service not brilliant, and quality of sausages poor for a Yorkshire town, and the bacon was cold! Bar a bit spartan and not a very cosy atmosphere which wouldhave been nice on a very cold evening - a real fire??

    "Never ever been to a hotel where I witnessed so many other guest complain to the management(I did not complain at the time as so many others had already done so). Our party had a number of rooms which varied from just about adequate to horrendous to a room that had only just (day before?) been painted and smelt horrendours and gave the occupants a headache. Other family members had an absoutely horrendous experience, complained and the experience only got worse, management really needs to work on their customer relations skills. Rain coming in to the interior of the building, Booked an early arrival room only to be told that they knew nothing of this although we had been emailed and it was agreed that one room at least would be available early. Even got asked to move at breakfast even though we were talking to our extended family at the adjacent table. Whole experience horrendous apart from the lady on reception and the bar person.     "I found the staff polite yet seeming disinterested. Breakfast coffee was served barely warm and the cooked breakfast barely adequate. The young waiter seemed uneasy and seemed to not find it easy dealing with the public." (97520880)

    Hotel lounge was very pleasant and welcoming.

    No hot water from the shower, no water after 3-4 minutes use.

    "A conveniently located hotel with a pleasant open view from the front windows. Sadly the building is in desperate need of total refurbishment. The decor looks as if it dated back to the 1970s. Worn carpets and peeling wallpaper were evident in many places. Room facilities were basic (my bath taps needed attention). The dinner menu looked unexciting (so my party ate out).     "The hotel seemed to offer reasonable value for money but with its very tired and tatty decor it looks like it has not been cared for.     The hotel is well located for a number of local attractions and was generally clean and tidy.

    The decor was very tired and rather tatty, the shower in the bathroom was almosr impossible to use because it sprayed everywhere and the bath panel was falling off (barely held on with 2 screws)

    "The hotel is in a very old building. However this does not excuse the poor bathroom, malfunctioning TV and unwelcoming Reception on arrival (including asking for payment in advance (first time at any hotel worldwide))." (99415056)

    Its position in the town of Malton; good parking; pleasant dining room; good breakfasts.

    "The hotel is centrally located and is ideal to use as a base to do the touristy bits. An idea of room size would have helped as the room we had was quite small. In general this hotel would benefit a great deal by having a bit of money spent on a face lift." (99811403)

    Good parking facilities, excellent breakfast and pleasant views.

    Radiator in bedroom could not be adjusted and was on constantly therefore the window had to be left open and as we were very close to the main road the traffic noise was quite disruptive.

    "The hotel is a beautiful building that is badly in need of refurbishment. The staff were pleasant.However a disappointing visit was summed up by our experience at breakfast. We were not directed to a table, so chose a table and served ourselves with cereal. We were then told by a waiter while we were eating our cereal,that we should move tables as we were not sitting at a table set for breakfast. After moving tables, we ordered a full English breakfast but we were not given a choice of types of egg and received fried egg which neither of us wanted. The fried bread was inedible, my wife's bacon was under cooked and the tomato ketchup (which we were not offered) was left over from earlier and had been topped up over dried ketchup." (99461049)

    The hotel was conveniently located in the centre of the town. The bed was comfortable.

    Shabby decor, no shower, no hair-dryer, poor room layout (the wardrobe door wouldn't open fully), poor television reception.

    "The decor is well overdue for a make over. The paintwork is chipped and the wallpaper peeling in places. There was dust in the corners of the bedroom carpet where it had obviously not been hoovered for a long time. The shower water was luke warm after running the water for 5 mins" (99247454)
