    Very nice old grand hotel. The bar and lounge area was impressive and enjoyable to sit in. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good.

    The room was a bit dated in its decor, but was fitting for the style of hotel.

    Quiet location, rooms very clean and comfortable with excellent facilities, staff very friendly

    Hotel Dinner Menu didn't cater for all, refurbishment took place while we were there which was rather inconvenient, bar etc not manned all the time had to search for someone to serve us

    Staff were excellent, beautiful setting, lovely room and suite allocated by reception. All new bedding.

    Hotel is clearly going through modernisation, areas are a little threadbare.

    Interesting building, good garden, good staff. Dining exceptionally good value.

    No proper bar and, although the staff were very attentive we ended up doing some work instead of relaxing. Dining room too far from the hotel area. It appeared to be independent of the hotel. Some minor points which would be sorted out by a good handyman.

    Hotel had a very friendly atmosphere in pleasant grounds. Generally a very quiet location.

    Bathroom in room let the room and the hotel down. It was old fashioned and in need of updating and repair (broken tiles etc). This was a pity, especially as it was the first thing we saw on entering the room which was very well presented.

    Brilliantly tasteful room and immaculate gardens. Great views. Your gardener, whom I met, has done a really outstanding job on all aspects of the gardens and woods. Tou were very good with our kids. Feel free to use comments on your website.

    We were staying during your refurb however this in no way impeded our enjoyment.

    "Quirky & a pleasent change from more modern hotels that are 'all the same in style/decor' but needs to go that bit extra to make it worth the money. For example, invest in some luxurious bed linen, great bath products & new entrance carpets, lick of paint & employ a designer to make a 'statement' out of some of the beautiful rooms (the views are spectacular) then you will make a reasonable hotel a great hotel.     staff were all welcoming and accommodating.The hotel is in a beautiful location and our room had a lovely view.The hotel has a very relaxed feel to it and we received a professional service without being too formal.Breakfast was excellent.We had a 3 night stay and had dinner at Silks each night.The menu was a little limited but good value for money.Staff were willing to prepare food for us that wasn't on the menu when requested.

    Although the hotel has lots of character it could do with a little renovation,however this wouldn't put us off from staying there again

    When we checked into our room the toliet didn't work. The staff were very helpful and moved us immediately to another room which was of a higher grade. It was excellent.

    Maintenance or housekeeping should have picked up the faulty toilet flush.

    Excellent reception staff and excellent service at breakfast with high quality food. The staff were friendly and yet efficient. The room was as stated on the internet and was very comfortable, roomy and with excellent views. There were a few points which may help you make some minor improvements for future guests.I have noted these in the next section.

    The only issues relate to the facilities in the room. The lighting in the room was not too good considering the size of the room with just one main light and a bed-side lamp at either side of the bed. I would have found it helpful to have a stronger wattage in the bed-side lamp. I found it impossible to read in bed and staying at the hotel for four nights this feature was a disadvantage for me - maybe not for other people. The only other issue was the shower - a power shower would be good!! With these two issues improved it would have been a perfect stay.

    "I would definately recommend staying here if you want to totally 'get away from it all' break from all the stress of work etc. It really is in the country so you would need a car to get around." (107393507)

    Nice and peaceful, beautiful location and very friendly staff. The bedroom was huge. A three poster bed and a sofa with a full size television.We had a meal in 'Silks' restaurant in the courtyard on the first night. The meal was excellent. The second night we had our meal in the main hotel in the 'Garden Room' as it was my husbands birthday. The meal was just as good, but is slightly more expensive as the menu reminded us of 'Master Chef'. The chef must be very highly qualified as the meals were absolutely wonderful.

    The water pressure in the shower could have been stronger, but everything else is so good, it is only a small problem. We would have liked more Sky sports channels as well.

    Sash windows seem to need attention with paint on the outside at least. Four poster bed was quite high to get into!

    Mira electric shower was just a trickle and so was unusable. If we could have had a good shower, our stay would have ranked as one of the best we have had.

    Excellent service from all staff. The restaurant was very good and the staff there were very pleasant. The hotel was lovely and warm and felt very welcoming.

    The decor needs some attention - wallpapering etc. There was also a smell in the hotel which I realised was coming from the farm next door. However, the smell did not penetrate the rooms - only the corridors outside.

    Breakfast was very nice...coffee excellent. Breakfast service very pleasant and helpful. Reception helpful as to directions, etc. Bar service good.Dinner at Silks was excellent if a bit overpriced.

    Heating!!! Although it was bitterly cold outside the room was boiling...we asked to have the radiators turned down only to be told one control (downstairs) served every room...i.e. it was "all or nothing" either the heat was on or off. We ended up sleeping with the window wide open and no bedclothes...an amazing thing for the weather. Bed pillows desperately need replacing!
