    "The Chepstow Hotel was third on my list of places to stay. I regularly spend weekends in Chepstow, as do many of my friends. I will not stay there again unless i can be assured that standards have improved, and my other choices (which are far better standard, and far better value for money) are unavailable." (108477694)

    checking in was adequate, we were directed appropriately to our room, which was clean and tidy.

    The kettle in the room is difficult to fill as the sink is small. We were kept waiting over an hour for our meal There was one staff member at the bar which meant delays in serving drinks. Breakfast was appalling. There was a poor choice for 'continental' breakfast. We were provided with large flasks of hot water to make instant coffee and tea. This is unnacceptable. These days, it is perfectly reasonable ot expect a decent standard of beverages in a hotel.

    The bedroom was clean and tidy and comfortable

    The bathroom was very tired and in need of decoration and the taps only dribbled,if you were lucky, water to clean teeth and wash hands

    The food was good and the staff friendly and helpful. The room was pleasant and clean and we were comfortable.

    There were no staff immediately available at breakfast and we were left waiting for attention. However, when it came, it was very good.

    "We stayed at your hotel because the Premier Inn at Newport was full - but this was to OUR advantage. We were well pleased and will certainly use your hotel (availability permitting) every time we stay overnight when visiting our daughter." (107400629)

    Extremely pleased with our stay. We also showed one of our dinner guests our room and he is going to recommend it to his parents when they come to Wales to visit him. All of your staff were friendly and extremely accommodating. Excellent value for money - both for the room and for the meals.

    Excellent value in dining room

    washbasin chipped and cracked. bed uncomfortable due to plastic sheet underneath sleeper. cobwebs in bedroom. poor wine list. receptionist ignored phones (2) whilst I was checking in and out. woken by a delivery (but it was 08h15)

    A Friendly member of staff

    On arrival there was nobody at reception and I stood there for 10 mins with staff passing by totally ignoring me. It wasn't until I left reception and went to the bar and asked how I book in as I had been left there for so long that I actually got any attention. Once the member of staff came to book me in she was very friendly and efficient. I wanted to order room service but unfortunately there was no number in the room for me to phone to order so I dialled reception but as it was not manned I couldn't get any attention. Eventually I went to the bar and ordered food to be delivered to my room. This was once again delivered by a really friendly member of staff. Had there been an emergency for me in my room and I had not been able to leave the room I'm not sure what I would have done as reception not being manned was a major issue.Breakfast on a Sunday morning is not served until 8am which was too late for me as I had a 30 mins journey and had to be at the venue for 8:30am.

    Fair-sized room and bathroom, quite comfortable.

    I was disturbed in the night due to noisy plumbing or some kind of external fan. Disappointing breakfast. Hotel decor a bit outdated.

    Room was light and airy.

    The hot tap on the sink in the bathroom did not work properly. It took ages for the hot water to come through and when it did it was scalding hot.

    "The food was not up to much, my wife sent back her meal , the replacement was not much better. On leaving the hotel we were overcharged.Breakfasts were itemised on the bill that had already been paid for. Also the price we had been quoted for by Late Rooms was not the same as the bill, £18 has been added on. I had previousy received by email( which I Still Have) confirmation of the booking from Late Rooms as £60.00 per room but somehow this had on departure migrated to £69.00 per room??? I visit many part of the country during the year and can honestly say that this is the first time I have been overcharged by any hotel." (97560587)
