    "Staff in bar and restaurant very good but the hotel needs brightening up inside as it's too dull." (108478830)

    Room was a bit drag and could do with updating. The bathroom was also very small ... more of a cupboard! Picture a normal square shower tray and then cut off one corner ... very small !!

    Fantastic views southwards, enjoyed from my own balcony. Easy ambience to the place, and good parking.

    Bed not quiet up to Premier Travel standards, but OK.

    lack of hot water, took ages and ages to slightly warm up and then had to use the kettle for a proper wash as the shower was inadequate

    Hotel has had very little updating since it opened in the 1970s. The building and the position at the top of the hill has the potential to be the best hotel in the county but not under the present management. It is a long time since I have had to ring a doorbell for access to a hotel at 11.20pm. Also finding the bar shut at the same time was rather unusual. A nightcap would have been nice but was very obviously not forthcoming.In need of new owners, new managers and complete refurbishment.

    Excellent value for money. staff generally attentive.

    I was (as were others) left waiting too long to be shown to a seat for breakfast. I left my walking boots as instructd to go in the warming room - left them there overnight but obviously not very warm as they were still very wet the following day !

    Clean, good location, adequate sized rooms, free wifi access.

    Wash basin placed in the corner with two mirrors at right angles to each other in front of you. This gives an image immediately in front of you - i.e. over the wah basin but in left-to-right reverse compared to a "normal" mirror image. Just think of trying to shave with that image! Rather "pretentious".

    Easy to check in..staff helpful

    Room had only shower from the taps which wasn't long enough to have a stand up shower. There was no holder for the shower in anycase (above head level)...and no shower rail..so didn't bother with the shower. On check out did mention to receptiionist who just smiled and said sorry. I normally stay in holiday inn type holiday where a shower is a prerequiste...disappointed with the hotel due to this one issue.

    location,views. staff friendly.

    Building very shabby in need of painting. Room very basic, 70s furniture. TV not tuned in correctly, horrid scale in the kettle, flickering light. So hot that had to open window even though snow on ground and door rattled from draft so didnt sleep well.

    Excellent breakfast and friendly staff and I asked for a late entry on a Saturday night and that was no problem

    I booked on line via Clear Sky Hotel site and entered details but did not finalise as I went back to check dates and then re-entered and this ended up with a double booking but this was helpfully cancelled for me

    Nice to stay in an individual hotel rather than a faceless chain. Recently refurbished room. Helpful staff.

    Starter was not as described, chorizo sausage was missing. A new starter was brought as it should have been but my husband had finished his by the time it arrived. Shower is tiny.

    Staff very attentive. Very quiet situation.

    Meant to mention the en-suite door sticking, toilet roll holder needs to be fixed as the roll kept falling off. Hot water (possibly a general problem in hotel) was coming ou in bursts.

    "The staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. My colleague and I wanted a restful environment where a very brief break from demanding work could be enjoyed to the maximum. This hotel certainly provided the peace and restful quiet required on this occasion. The cuisine was superb and reasonably priced. The situation of the hotel was truly spectacular. I will most certainly return, and hopefully for alonger stay!" (97836652)

    Excellent standard of cleanliness, extremely homely, lovely touches such as the fruit and bottled water.

    My room had a good en-suite, but no shower - no real hardship, but a shower over the bath may have been helpful.

    "I had eaten at the hotel in previous years, so it was not completely unknown to me. It is a rather old fashioned hotel, which means it is comfortable and quiet.I enjoyed staying at the hotel and hope it attracts enough custom to flourish in future. We were unable to use the pool because of the weather - it would be nice to have an indoor pool/gym." (99037494)

    Spacious and comfortable. Quiet. Good view and Balcony.

    Shower was small and the water took a long time to get hot.

    Hotel setting.

    Very limited bar food. Breakfast not available until 07:30 (had to leave at 07:30 therefore not able to have breakfast).

    "The hotel is in superb area and caters for large groups of ramblers. The room I stayed in certianly had a bit of a hostel feel - washing line in the bathroom but no shower. Decor and facilitiess need modernising. The room had no great appeal to it - no wow factor more of a 'uggghhhh' factor. Having said that, they price was not unreasonable, the dining room was adequate and the staff polite. The close location to my client is the only reason why I would stay in this hotel again."
