    "If you can ignore the ongoing renovations, the bedrooms, breakfast room and function rooms are all renovated to a high standard. " (108710881)

    Room refurbished to high standard. Modern decor, flat screen TV, large, walk-in shower. Pleasant staff. Simple cooked breakfast.

    Corridors still being refurbished, most rooms don't yet have formal room numbers (Aug09). Sash windows drafty, could be issue in colder months.

    Room was clean and nicely decorated

    No toilet holder in the bathroom. Breakfast dissapointing,full breakfast limited,bigger choice of cerials would have been appreciated.

    Nice view

    Room freezing cold. Hall was warmer. Gas fire did not work. Radiator gave off hardly any heat. Horrible decor throughout. Old fashioned and dreary. Plastic coated tables in dining room. Dirty canopy over bar.

    Despite on line booking hotel had no record of me being booked in Almost alone in a deserted hotel which feels like it is, or should be, in the process of a complete refurbishment.Faded, little real quality.

    "When I booked this hotel, I had tried for several hours to find a hotel with vacancy's around the area which was under £75 a night. I was only going to be there for 5 hrs in total as I would arrive late from France and have to be on the road early. I know the area and the Golf Club as was. I was concerned with the low price but the photographs looked good and I could not get anything else locally. I think this hotel should not be on offer by any company with any respect for their customers - it borders on a doss house in bad repair and will never stay here again and recommend no one else does untill the owners renovate it or class it as it is "A Doss House"" (107281226)

    Err - i'll have to think long and hard to see if there were any - oh yes, the window opened to let the smell out!

    The Bedroom smelt of uncleanliness, overuse and age, all furniture and equipment should have been thrown out years ago. The bed lined was worn where others had slept - yuk! And, when I grudgingly tried to sleep, I became very itchy!!!! The shared toilet doors were painted chipboard. There was a running tap in the toilets which could not be turned off, I could hear it all night. The dining room doubled as the bar where I ate off worn formica tables, the ceiling had been repaired and was not painted over dark green like the rest. I arrived late and wished I had slept in my car. The breakfast looked o.k. but I was violently ill 20 mins after I left the hotel.

    Beautiful building from the outside set in a pleasant location

    Building locked on arrival, saw one young girl to check in - not able to help with cab company locally - no mobile phone reception - breakfast adequate - on leaving saw no member of staff in fact we only saw the one young girl the whole time. Quite worried about key that was for front door and also room - are they all the same

    The young lady who seemed to be doing everything was polite and halpful. The adjacent area is very attractive.

    A darkened building with a locked front door was not welcoming. There were no bar facilities available. It felt as if alterations to the hotel were being done around the few guests.

    beautiful view from bay window over the lovely gardens and trees

    having the shower and wash basin actually in the bedroom afforded no privacy. Had great difficulty getting the shower to a). turn on, and b).to get a safe temperature. The bed was very noisy and creaked at every movement. Breakfast - no cereals in sight; heard the chef telling the next table that it was either cereals OR cooked breakfast! I asked the night before for a vegetarian breakfast and was offered only eggs - no mushrooms or tomatoes.

    "For the money, it was passable - just, however the heating was overly hot and couldn't be turned down, the window couldn't be closed properly so the road traffic was quite loud. The room was clean, just worn out eg, the wallpaper was peeling away from the walls, but the carpet and linen was clean. My room had some sort of electric timer which I heard ticking over the road noise, but I was unable to locate this. The shared bathroom was clean, but I didn't like the carpet in the toilet area. Breakfast was pleasant and nothing to complain about. The grounds are beautiful, and the hotel from the outside looks inviting." (97452430)

    "The decor was very dated but with investment the potential at this hotel would be superb, due to location etc. When we spoke to another couple they too were horrified at the state of the place. We are regular weekend stayers at various hotels, from chains to independant B&B's and we can honestly say this was one of the most depressing places we have ever stayed, even surpassed by a Backpackers accommodation used by us last month in South Africa."     The hotel was very tatty, it looked closed when we pulled onto the car park and we had to ring a bell, when the young lady eventually answered the door she showed us into a cold room. There was a shower cubicle next to the bed, the kettle was on the floor, the breakfast room was most uninviting. There was only one member of staff who worked really hard, so it was lucky the hotel didnt have a lot of guests.

    "Overall the hotel was very nice. It was in pretty surroundings and was quite easy to find. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very tasty.The room was well decorated and large in size, but personally I found it to be quite cold and could not seem to get the fire to work, but this may just be becaise I am used to living in a very warm house and it is not really a serious complaint. the only real thing I did not like was the lack of hot water, but overall I would still use the hotel again in future and would recommend it to others."     We had a fantastic view over the gardens, and the room was very quiet.

    There was no hot water for the shower during the daytime and we did not know whether there were set times at which the boiler was operating. The TV channels did not include Freeview. The mattress was incredibly hard.
