    "Would certainly return as the position of the hotel is so central and would recommend hotel to others. Please look at the TVs in the room and the service they offer, they are old fashioned and inadequate." (107516857)

    Lovely position, hotel quiet and restaurant staff helpful

    Room not ready on arrival, staff member on reception not terribly friendly, shower fan only worked intermittantly, lack of channels on a very old TV

    Food was nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean.

    The inside of the kettle in the room was disgustingly dirty. With hindsight I should have complained.

    "I visit the Island regularly and this is my first tine at this hotel. Despite these criticisms of things that could easily be remedied, I would not dream of staying anywhere else in future. It was a rare pleasure and my party and I were made to feel really welcome and comfortable. Terrific staff, very professional and an ambiance and environment to die for if one seeks to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city hotels - even for a business trip. My congratulations to the hotel management for a rare experience in these times. I am fed up with airlines and others nowadays trying to squeeze money out of customers at every possible step. The all-inclusive and generous nature of this hotel, accompanied by excellent and appropriately friendly service gives that feeling of getting more than you paid for which, in my book, it the perfect way to run any service industry. I would recommend this hotel to anybody" (107974410)

    A truly GORGEOUS environment The local style of the hotel, unlike the awful plasticised, mass produced 'Hilton' or 'Holiday Inn' type chains Extraordinarily charming, articulate, educated, helpful and competent English-speaking staff (mainly from Sth Africa). Beautiful size room with heavenly large (4 poster) bed (I am 6'2") Beautiful views and extremely peaceful Great and generous English Breakfast with local Manx kippers! The fast service came as a shock nowadays. Easy access throughout and parking Everything being all-in and no annoying extras

    Bearing in mind that the hotel is described as '4 Star': The rooms were in urgent need of a makeover. Low lighting (like in mean Swiss hotels) and most of the knobs missing from the drawers. The shower was as powerful as a fire-hose - wonderful - but not in a cubicle, so water unavoidably went everywhere, including soaking the very deep adjacent (wooden) window frame. The tiny CRT TV belongs in a museum and the 8 (working) channels were really awful. A good spread of stations is the norm nowadays, including news and movie channels. After all, there is precious little night life on the island! (Apart from the 4 poster bed!) Insufficient power points (everybody needs to charge the phone these days) and the one in the bathroom not working (fixed VERY promptly when reported) The wi-fi signal fizzled out at my door so to check my e-mails (vital to me when travelling) I had to stand in the corridor like a Dickensian street-urchin at a restaurant window! The provision of free wi-fi is, in my view, an essential element of any hotel these days for business travellers and others. It takes very little to ensure that it works properly in all rooms. Indeed, the only reason I thought of switching from the Hilton to this hotel in the first place was because I felt aggrieved at being charged for wi-fi at that place. The establishment is described as a Hotel/Country Club. There are no massages or treatments on Sundays OR Mondays. That incongruity is a shame.

    Comfortable bed, lots of hot water, good breakfast

    room in basement with a view of a wall. tea/coffee facilities limited - double room and only 1 tiny biscuit!!!!

    "The Restaraunt is always empty,why can you not pick from the other munu and eat in more pleaseant surroundings, I would even pay more.The Resteraunt menu is always too fancy.On a previous visit I was allowed to eat in the Restaurant, the first night and picked from the sports bar menu,the following night I was told to leave.     Quiet location, room was spacious and the bathroom clean

    Breakfast was awful especially for a four star, plates were stacked with water between them, table had pots of jam and marmalade that had previously been opened and used and there were no cups and serviettes on the table

    "An ideal stop for a quiet weekend whether you play golf or not.I would have preferred to have known that a cap was necessary to use the swimming pool. Otherwise a good base for touring the island with plenty of car parking spaces." (97093035)

    Very clean and comfortable, the staff were lovely and helpful

    The only downside to our stay was the food. We were very disapointed with our evening meal which was extremely salty for some reason (certainly glad we didn't add any more salt ourselves) plus the chips were hard. Then in the morning the breakfast wasn't any better, I wish now we had mentioned it at the time but we were just happy to be having a nice break away from home so didn't really want the hassle. Everything else with the hotel was really great and we had a brilliant time.

    "Covenient location for access to Douglas and Castletown. Very clean and efficient service. Fabric of hotel in need of minor maintenance and repair to restore image." (99002202)

    Spacious grounds. Relaxed atmosphere. The room and hotel were very clean and the grounds were very well tended.

    The fabric and signage of the building did look dilapidated in places which was a little dissapointing considering the rates charged. The lift was out of operation for the duration of our stay. We had requested details of the hotel restaurant evening menu which was not available so rather than chance finding there was nothing to our liking we ended up booking a table at an external adjacent restaurant.

    "Usually stay at the Claremont or Sefton in Douglas. Would try the Mount Murray again in the future. Things to improve it would be; 1. More facilities in room for business traveller - not IT, just water and stuff 2. More interesting breakfast menu - your buffet is poor compared to the Sefton and the Claremont do cooked to order modern dishes." (97632191)

    No water in the room - also no ironing board or trouser press in room.

    "My only regret was that I hadnt brought a swim costume.I didnt see that there was a pool when I booked .I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and there were no oppurtunities available to buy a costume . Staff - super. Meals - I had the most delightful fish and chips,followed by choc fudge cake ( shame I didnt bring that swim costume)." (99671436)

    The Sports Bar with the Television reduces the quality of the Hotel. We did not think that it was 4stars, probably 3.
