    "Heel leuk en goed hotel" (108902853)

    Een prima hotel voor een weekendje weg 10 minuutjes van het centrum. Canterbury is erg leuk met de kerstdagen

    De kraan achterkanten die niet in het zicht zitten als de kranen dicht zijn, waren niet schoon.

    Een heerlijk hotel gelegen op loopafstand van het centrum van Canterbury. Het personeel is uiterst vriendelijk en correct. Het eten (met name het engels ontbijt en het deseert zijn voortreffelijk en smaken naar meer). De inrichting is typisch engels en sfeervol. Parkeergelegenheid is meer dan voldoende.

    Geen minpunten te bedenken.

    i think a good paintjob will do a lot of good to the hotel. From the outside (front) you can see the windows almost fall out of the wood.

    Easy to find. Reception and bar staff were very helpful. Close to town centre but far enough away to avoid the parking issues.

    Breakfast/Dining area was very poor with chairs threadbare and tatty. Tables felt sticky. Chipped crockery. Breakfast was advertised as buffet style but cooked breakfast had to be ordered instead and beans looked as if they had been reheated several times.

    "Lovely accomodations very clean and well kept. although I had a late night checkin the lst night stay I was put on the 3rd floor very cold no heat I was so tired I didn't complain until morning. I had to carry my bags 3 or more flights of stairs that was very difficult. Next morning I was imediately upgraded and put in a larger roon with heat on a lower floor. I was grateful, so I enjoyed the rest of my stay. I was visiting my daughter who is studying abroad so I didn't spent much time at the Hotel. Unfortunately did I not eat in any of your dinning facilities. Which alkso looked very inviting. Many thanks I would reconend this to anyone" (108953657)

    Easy access to restaurant and town centre

    Leaking shower room, reservation stated king size bed and it wasn't, the room wouldn't even have been able to contain a king size. Continental breakfast: Askedfor a plate as there were none and side plates were put out, asked where the selection of meats stated on the menu were and one meat was put out and cutlery was dirty. Was the poorest show of breakfast I've ever seen abd staff were not exactly helpful!

    very cold in room - informed by reception that 'heating doesn't come on until 5pm'! Radiator in bathroom came on and went off at odd times. Furnishings very worn.

    Comfortable, clean and friendly; v welcoming reception; well-positioned for 10 min stroll into Canterbury

    Took breakfast first day; this persuaded us not to take it the following day - although the cooked breakfasts were sound, the cold buffet was dull and sparse (except for v g sliced ham), there were no bread rolls and the croissants ran out, even though we arrived for breakfast more than an hour before it closed; the sealed cheese was rubbery and almost inedible. We also waited a long time for our orders to be taken (tea/coffee/toast) and in fact had to call the waitress over to be served at all. Seemed understaffed and under-resourced, even though the hotel presumably knew how many guests were staying overnight.

    Wonderful experience! Great service, great food, great value for money! Very comfy bed and quiet rooms.

    Some furnishings a little old and tired, for example - net curtains falling apart, drawers and mirrors broken on dressing table. Cleaning of bath in bathroom needs to be more thorough - lots of hair in plug hole from previous guests.

    Good location. Friendly and helpful staff.

    Sleeping proved difficult due to noise during the night from the bar in particular but also from people running along corridors. Room decor was a bit tired.

    With one exception the attitude of staff was impressive! Although generally busy, they gave sufficient time to deal with any requests or enquiries.

    Manager was very visable and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, and this attitude passed on down to the staff.

    Once I changed rooms it was clean, comfortable, quiet and perfectly adequate

    The first room I was given (211) was above the kitchen and next to the roof with all the fans. It stank of fried food, was very hot and very noisy (noise from the kitchen and from the fans).

    Very friendly, courteous, efficient staff - definitely a saving grace! Walking distance to town and railway station. Nice garden at the back, away from traffic. Even our room at the front did not suffer too much from traffic noise.

    The hotel had "recently been refurbished" but this was not evident, at least in the main building, where our room (215) was situated. Our room appeared to be the result of dividing a larger room in two, with the result that we had to squezze past the foot of the bed to get from the door to the window, or into the bathroom. The bathroom did not appear to be an original fitting, as a Saniflo-type "chew'n'flush" attachment dealt with waste when the toilet was flushed, and the floorboards creaked where they had obviously been lifted to allow the plumbing to be installed. The room - especially the bathroom - did not appear to be particularly clean. The light fitting over the TV did not work and, on examination, the bulb was coated with a layer of dust. In the bathroom, guests had obviously washed their hands then reached for the towel (clean and large) and drips had splashed on the bathroom door. These had not been cleaned, nor had the floor.

    Room was at the front of hotel facing a main road but it seemed fairly quiet at night even with the windows open. Room was cool considering the weather was hot.

    When checking out, our bill listed that we had dinner and bar drinks one evening - we didn't eat at the hotel apart from breakfast. The process of trying to find the paperwork to back up the charge was protracted and didn't materialise. Room was small for a double - only 12 inches between foot of bed and wall.

    Friendly staff. All meals available on site. Good size room. Convenient for canterbury centre ( easy 15 minute leisurely walk) -- saves looking for a parking space in town.

    Very noisy duvets! Seem to have a plasticky material within the cover and it makes a loud rustling noise just as you are trying to get to sleep.

    3 separate beds were fine, bar was nice, breakfast was good

    everything seemed a bit run down and needed some maintenance or care. room was a bit too warm.
