    Lovely building and good staff

    We bought a day ticket for First buses and couldn't get onto a Lothian bus. I suppose you might have warned us. That was the only "bad" point and hardly your fault

    Very helpful & friendly management and staff. Well-kept property. On direct bus line, 10-15 min to center of city.

    Friendly with great service and an excellent bus service into Edinburgh City Centre.

    Only the Scottish weather. Lots of rain but it didn't spoil the break. Onlt the wet Scottish weather - as usual, so no surprise.

    from checking in to leaving nothing but the best of service, nothing was to much trouble for the staff who were excellent!! The food in the restaurant was of the highest standard & we felt that the price we paid was very good indeed for the very high quality. Our room was so lovely & very very comfy. The honesty bar is such a lovely idea & we enjoyed this very much, it was really nice to stay in the hotel as many hotels these days are all plastic etc - this hotel certainly was in the old style which we really enjoyed,felt so relaxed in the surroundings.

    Ambeiance, location, Staff, service and food were all of the highest order and i would recommend this hotel to colleauges and friends.

    "The hotel as a restuarant that is run separate by a young man called Mathew and this is well worth a visit." (97773072)

    Only bad part is that in there information pack it states that there is a local pub serving good Scottich pub food. when arriving there we found out it was Al-a-carte and very pricey. we would not recommend this restuarant to anyone looking for pub food.

    "We enjoyed our stay and did extend an extra night, we slept well, ate well, and was very comfortable at the hotel." (97371027)

    Large rooms, nicely decorated,peaceful area, 25mins walking distance to Edinbvgh, good breakfast,friendly and informative staff on local buses,trips, and sights to see.

    We thought that the resturant was a bit expensive to eat in every night, and also the wine was top of the range, the menu could have been changed maybe every 3 days.But the food was very good.

    "Overall we were happy with our stay in the hotel. Check-in was efficient and friendly although access to the hotel was a little awkward with suitcases. Despite the temperature outside, the hotel was warm and our room was comfortable, everything in the room worked properly. The food was excellent: breakfast was always freshly cooked to order and very tasty, dinner was top quality and good value at about £25 per head for three courses. We decided to leave our car in the car park for the duration of our stay. The bus service was frequent but we wanted to walk everywhere and this was just possible, our only slight misgiving was that the walk into the city centre was a little dreary in places." (97191762)

    "Good location for centre of City and for business on the east side. If you stay you must eat in Matthews Restaurant - fantastic food, beautiful presentation and reasonably priced. Appears a very small Menus but they have daily specials. Free WiFi and an excellent residents lounge. Highly recommended my first stay but I'll be back." (97392831)

    Excellent Facilities and well appointed - sherry is a nice touch.

    The room and the hotel were tidy and clean and attractively furnished.

    The slight noise from the kitchen above when preparations for breakfast began at 6.50am

    "overall the hotel was excilent, from the booking which was double booked i received a quick phone call informing me just that and was then given an up grade which turned out to be terrific. terrific staff a very nice warm welcome as you arrived a good tour of the facilities and very clean and beautifully presented with a complimentray sherry which went down well. over all a terrific hotel and would recommend this hotel to any one.Well done ."     very spacious , clean and local to the city centre

    very large room but shame it was onlY a shower room not a bathroom aswell would have made alot of differance

    "Overall the accomodation was very good, we just felt that some small details were missed, such as the complementary shampoo not being replaced. Travel information from the hotel to the centre was given on arrival and there is an excellent bus service from just outside the hotel to the city. There is a very good restaurant on site where evening meals can be provided at reasonable cost and other restaurants can be reached easily." (97050132)

    We stayed in the Lodge at the rear of the hotel which was particularly pleasant, being away from the main road,and which had Canadian fir woodwork and doors.

    "The way to get to the hotel from the airport using the airport bus to waverley and then the place and number of the bus to catch to arrive at the hotel. I must be honest and say overall our stay was wonderful and the food and hospitality was as we have always found in Scotland excellent. I hope to visit again soon." (99640615)

    It was close to the hotel where the wedding was held. The room was well furnished and the bed was really comfortable. we slept really well. The decanter of sherry was a very nice touch and the bus services to and from the hotel to the town etcetera was excellent. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

    The toilet seat was loose.

    "Friendly, helpful staff; very clean accommodation;loved the St Valentine's day gesture of a red rose and chocs on the pillow when we got back. Comfortable lounge; accessibility of buses into city (bus stop across road).Cameron Toll shopping centre a very short walk away and excellent restaurants a bit further in the other direction (about 15 mins towards city centre)."
