    "dissapointed and waste of money" (107299765)

    Breakfast staff were brilliant

    The room was dated, stains all over the seats and bed covers, shower was a dribble and the room had cobwebs, certainly not worth nearly £100 per night, very dissapointed and will not be recomending this hotel to anyone

    Very friendly and helpful reception staff. The reception area and hallways looked slightly tired, but the room itself was very large, airy and quiet. Free Wifi, decent cocktails, convenient location for Knockhill.

    The food was average - steak overcooked, poached eggs overcooked, everything a bit salty. The waitstaff in the morning seemed to all be very young trainees with variable skills and attitudes. We were asked three times for our room number, once in a quite rude way.

    The front of the building and entrance was very dull and uninspiring. Unable to see a main sign for the hotel.

    Friendly & helpfull staff. Excellent comunal areas. Wifi access ok. Breakfast & evening food very nice.

    Bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly. Radio in the bedroom would not work. Room slightly dated, but can't argue for the price.

    The hotel and facitities were good.

    The conduct of the staff was not what I expected from the establishment. During breakfast service the staff formed huddles in the dining room to discuss the previous night events, or comment on guests behaviour. The initial reception at the hotel was also not what I would have expected as the receptionist while taking a telephone call did not acknowledge either myself or my husband standing at the desk. A smile of acknowledgement would have surficed to indicate that she had seen us, and would deal with us once she had completed her call. The cleaning staff were also very inhospitable in both manner and also action. Leaving their cart outside the bedroom door thus blocking the entrance to the room, and by scowling at guests rather than smiling, this is a small action that would have went a long way. As already stated the hotel facilities were of a good standard but the staff are the bad oint of the stay.

    Rooms were clean, tidy and modern. Good facilities and plenty of room in the family room for 3 adults. Food in the bistro was excellant.

    Hotel clean and tidy staff on reception very pleasant. Service was speedy and efficient. Beautiful kept garden.

    Food for dinner in Bistro was not as high quality as would have expected, steak pie had only about 3 pieces of meat. Tea, coffee supplies in room hadn't been replenished from previous visitors.

    "The hotel has good facilities, polite and courteous staff. Sams bistro is good. Food is middle of the road, value for money. The dining room is like a sauna, unpleasantly hot. The bedrooms have the facilities travellers require, tea/coffe, iron, comfortable bed, it is just a little tired." (97467358)

    The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff made up for the other shortcomings.

    The hotel is tired. In need of refurbishment. The bedrooms and corridors are the most in need of work.

    "The hotel was in a good location for Edinburgh and surrounding areas, it was off the main road surrounded by well kept grounds. The rooms were a good size and very clean. The hotel had two restaurants that offered a variety of choice. The staff were friendly and helpfull. There was internet access avaialble and good parking facilities. Overall the hotel was value for money, would recommmend." (97393194)

    "The hotel was spotlessly clean, as was our room. Having two disabled young adults the room was very spacious and met our needs excellently. The location was perfect for us attending the conference at Lauder College." (97433478)

    The quietness of the surroundings. The effiency of the staff to make sure we were made welcome and all our needs were catered for.

    The smell of smoke in the corridors leading to Room 230. Even though the 'D' Day of 1 July 2007 had passed.

    The rooms and hotel had everything needed for a enjoyable stay. Particularly liked the ironing board and iron in the roon.

    Not enough soundproofing in the rooms. You could hear people talking in other rooms and could hear every word from people going up and down the corridors. Additionally the fire door outside our room creaked shut slowly................every time someone opened it.

    "As I have stated above being able to share a room with our 17 year old daughter. Also found the cooked to order breakfast a refreshing change from normal buffet offerings." (97143673)

    The fact that it is often very difficult to travel with older children without booking additional rooms. This hotel offered a 3 bedded room with adult sized extra bed where others only offer sofa bed suitable for small child. Found it excellent value for money.

    "I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of accomadation. It was the best value for money I have enjoyed in a long time. Staff were extremely helpful and couteous. I was travelling alone with two small children, room 205, and they were so helpful and friendly. I have told so much about the hotel to my family and friends in comparison to my actual stay in Dunfermline. I would reccommend this hotel and will stay again in the future.     The rooms were modern, well co-ordinated. New clean fresh bathroom. Clean fresh white towels and bed linen. Modern appliances. Warm and bright room.
