    Excellent food and attentive staff

    Room overlooked road with noise from traffic and passers by also hotel sign outside the window was banging in the wind. Restricted parking facilities on site. Would ask for an inside room next time.

    All facilities were there.

    Couldn't check out before 7.00am, Obsequious staff, new and unjustified car parking charge, couldn't get breakfast before 7.00am, soundproofing from neighbours poor.

    A Hotel of this high standard should have Internet access in every room .

    Overall, there was a favourable impression. The service was good and the staff friendly. Quality of the food was good

    Whilst the food was good, it was expensive for the quantity served. The bed was not all that comfortable and the general decor in the bedroom was average. We were fortunate with the parking, although the access was problem.

    Good facilities, very friendly and helpful staff. The public areas are very tastefully presented.

    There were two empty crisp packets in the bedside table drawer when I checked in to my room, which is not what I would expect from a hotel positioning itself at this end of the market.

    Apart from these bad points, everything else was superb.

    didn't know how to get the shower hot! Although it did not matter at the time however. Food was expensive.

    Marvellous, warm, friendly staff, lovely welcome. Stylish restaurant, exceptional food, cosy bar, reasonable costs. This hotel is one of the high points of Tavistock.

    The rooms are a high standard for a small hotel without the hefty price tag. The rooms are very quite at night with little or no noise to keep you awake.

    Maybe the only point I would make is that if you do not eat at the hotel there are not many other places to eat in Tavistock.

    "Dinner (nouvelle cuisine) in the evening in the Restaurant was expensive (£34 a head for 2 courses), and the bar/room service did not offer any real menu alternatives over period of stay. Breakfast was continental and described as complimentary. A cooked breakfast (£12-50 a head) was extra and expensive. I sensed other people were put off having a cooked breakfast by this arrangement. I recommend the hotel with these reservations." (97379983)

    Central position in Tavistock

    West Street was very noisey into the early hours of the morning affecting sleep in Room 16. Room 2 offered and accepted as an alternative was small and barely befitting a double room,also television picture definition poor with TV sited above cupboard.

    "We enjoyed our stay. The food and wines were excellent and the staff very efficient, pleasant and helpful. We were able to park our car since it was the off season,but lack of adequate parking space would otherwise be a disadvantage. We were disappointed to find the bathroom inadequately prepared for our arrival, a towel rail not working and insufficient towels and no bath mat. However the staff quickly remedied the deficiencies once brought to their notice. We would visit again off season." (97497995)

Breakfast not served before 7.30 which was a distinct problem for a business traveller. When hot water failed there were no staff available on reception until 7.00 am. No shower and no breakfast!     Very well presented. Comfortable, nice attention to detail generally regarding ambience and comfort

    Hot water broke down which meant I had to have a cold shower. Got up at 6.30 for work and there were no reception staff until seven which seems odd for a hotel accomodating business travellers.

    "The hotel description should state that it only has very limited off street car parking. The use of brass shower fittings should be reconsidered. These get very hot quickly and the white handle offers little heat insulation. The shower was only working at a very hot temperature. At all other temperatures, the water was less than a trickle."     "A fantastic hotel with amazing staff who were all incredibly friendly and helpful. It felt we had made friends there and we will definitely be returning. The cooked breakfasts were fantastic, the room light and peaceful and the location of the hotel in Tavistock was excellent." (99098440)

    Although we only chose the standard bedroom it was more than comfortable, a fair size and very quiet

    the only slight problem was the lack of parking at the hotel.
