    Friendly staff, cleaniliness, big rooms

    The roads are very noisey, i felt like i was outside. You should invest in double glazing. Also very cold room.

    Room very clean and comfortable with everything I needed. Friendly and safe atmosphere. Ample parking at rear of building.

    Swipe card at main entrance to rooms was faulty. Workmen woke me up at 5am.

    The room was on the road side of the hotel and so there was some noise from passing traffic.

    Very clean rooms and nicely refurbished. I will definitely re-visit when next in Birmingham.

    No hot water in shower. Was never quite sure which hotel I was in as there seemed to be 3 different hotel names.

    "We usually pay a lot more for hotel rooms and decided to book a cheaper one for this stay. We weren't disappointed and felt we got what we paid for." (108807932)

    The hotel was clean, the room and bathroom spacious. Good value for money.

    We booked a deluxe room with king size bed. The bed was a standard 4'6" and very uncomfortable as the bed appeared to have sagged or broken in the centre.

    Very noisy on front of hotel near road. Second night moved to room away from road on courtyard. During the night people smoked and talked loudly outside windows- very unpleasant (blinds on windows made them difficult to close to prevent smoke coming into room)

    Generally what I would expect from a good hotel in this price range.

    I wasn't actually in the Cavalier House Hotel at all! This has now been bought by, and merged into, the next door hotel - the Edgbaston Palace Hotel. You now check in there, and which hotel your room is in has no relation to which hotel you're booked into. The front door is locked late at night, and you don't get a key, you have to ring the bell and wait for the receptionist to come and let you in.

    We had two rooms - a twin and a double. The twin was simple, clean, very warm and comfortable overall - plenty of space etc. With basic tea & coffee facilities and an ensuite shower, basin & WC. Pretty good for a price for two of £50.00 - including breakfast. Great parking at the front and really Excellent service from the bar staff who made us very welcome (allowing us to watch rugby on the big screen TV). The bar food was okay and cheap - simple burger and chips (tasty and wholessome). AS FOR THE DOUBLE ROOM - well that's an entirely different matter!!!

    THE DOUBLE ROOM WAS A SLUM! vERY SMALL, COLD AND AT THE TOP OF THE BUILDING WITH SEVERAL STAIRCASES TO NEGOTIATE. sTAINS AND LEAKS FROM THE ROOF (IT WAS AN ATTIC ROOM). THREADBARE CARPET (IRON BURNS IN SEVERAL PLACES) - JUST THE PITS - SHOULD BE CONDEMMNED. THE ENSUITE WAS NICE THOUGH AND THE SHEETS WERE CLEAN - THE BED LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE ROOM.

    "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were made to feel welcome. Hotel was very comfortable and clean. Staff were extremely helpful, with one staff member printing off a map and directions for where I had to go." (107347821)

    Bathroom was very clean and modern. Bedding was also very clean and beds were comfortable; overall the room was very comfortable. Plenty of parking. Great value for money.

    Pre approval of the full amount was taken at the time of booking (a full month in advance) without being clearly advertised on the site. I suggest taking 1p like larger companies in future!

    I found the internet booking a bit restrictive when it came to a query, having said that when i rang for clarification the staff could not be more helpful. Booking in was a pleasure as was the greeting and service from the staff. When i did make a complaint regarding my first room, it was dealt with immediately and proficiently. The second room was wonderful....

    The first room 202 should not be made available to the general public until the sewage problem is resolved, the smell was sickly. I feel they must have been aware as the window had been left open so that the smell only became really obvious when i closed it. Only a minor matter regarding the second room and that is more of a request: to put curtains up at the window for privacy.

    Door to the room did not close properly behind you. Cutlery not laid out properly in dining room for dinner. Waiter although courteous seemed to lack experience.

    Staff were very pleasant but I had to ask where I should eat as it was not volunteered or obvious. My room was nice but noisy as it was on the main landing on the front of the building looking out onto the main road. Good shower and lots of nice beverages. Well equipped room with a working radiator.

    My room was on the main landing on the front of the building looking out onto the main road - the window was single glazed and the sound of traffic was intrusive. Did not sleep well prior to working day. Unable to fill the kettle easily. TV did not have BBC2. Room didn't feel secure. Lone woman having to go outside of hotel at night to eat. Taken to table in dining room and placed at table next to large pictyre window in full view of any passers by. I chose not to have breakfast. Food plentiful but bixarre, lamb smothered in thick sauce (described as minted lamb steaks), ordered and paid for dessert not available at end of meal.

    On arrival was directed to the sister hotel next door The Edgbaston Palace Hotel which was very clean,comfoertable and enjoyable. Would reccomend this Hotel to anyone wanting a pleasant stay in Birmingham.

    Room was very very warm due to hot pipes under the floor, and 2 of the 3 windows would not stay open. Breakfast was mediocre.

    Staff very helpful and friendly. Hotel nicely presented. Plenty of car parking. Very comfortable bed. Clean every where.

    Very minimum of amenities in the room. Decorating appears to be unfinished in the room. No umbrellas available to go to breakfast in the next door restaurant,got very wet in torrential downpour.

    Room well laid out & tidy, staff friendly, helpful, beds very comfortable, shower excellent, room well stocked with tea coffee etc - had a family room & expected a single bed in same area as double but actually had a separate twin room, so even better.

    Some road noise, as is not as far set back off the road as website indicates, so not best for light sleepers. Hotel is being refurbished, although no disruption to stay. Having said that, excellent value & so would definitely use again

    The staff was wonderful, always friendly, always ready to help, always smiling.

    Hotel often closed, meaning we had to go next door to fetch keys. Minor maintenance problems fixed with a smile when I asked, but why didn't someone NOTICE and fix them BEFORE a guest had to ask? What makes them think a single 15 watt candle bulb is enough to light that spacious room? Breakfast was extremely variable in quality from perfectly nice to quite awful - green fuzzy mold on the tomato, burned croissants (I mean BLACK), on day one what we termed the worst full English ever and on day three what I thought was one of the best, along with lovely pastries and always great coffee. Just never knew what to expect!
