    Clean room, clean towels and clean bedding. Friendly staff

    You only have a room, no bar or lounge area. No hairdryer in the room, however, on request one was given.

    Friendly staff, very clean room, a good selection of flavoured teas and coffee. Good location.

    The walls are quite thin and I was woken up by people having sex. I then had to walk past these people in the corridor in the morning, and I was thinking 'I was listening to you having sex last night.' It was horrible because they weren't even very sexy people, they were middle aged and flabby. Disgusting.

    Convenient for our visit to The Globe. Double room was reasonable size. Comfortable bed. Good shower. Clean. Also visited Southwark Cathedral and walked alongside The Thames after excellent meal at the fish restaurant in Borough Market area.

    Noise from sirens. No lifts so could be difficult for some visitors.

    I really appreciate the special service by the reception, and especially want to honor Somnath. He really made a difference. He is extremely friendly and polite and helped me when I did not have time for breakfast, by arranging a "takeaway" breakfast box in the morning.

    The hotel was very clean. Great shower. The staff were polite.

    Access via the steep narrow stairway was difficult with luggage. As the window looked over a rear courtyard I could not open it for long due to the cooking smells from adjacent buildings. This caused a problem as the room was very warm indeed and I could not ventilate as a consequence of this. I would definitely not book the hotel during the summer months as I am sure this would make the room unbearable with the heat.

    Apart from comment below hotel was quiet and very comfortable. Very convenient being right next door to a tube station and above a small cafe which served an excellent breakfast. Staff were very helpful and the hotel was very convenient for access to South Bank attractions and the London Eye.

    Doors of rooms closed with a loud bang - not good at 4.00am when visitors returned late!

    Helpful staff at check in Clean and tidy room and shared bathroom

    Room was small but was ok for an overnight stop. Aerial socket was level with the bed so care had to be taken not to injure yourself on it.

    your hotel details state that you may be unable to guarantee a non smoking room so I phoned to request one; only to be told that the whole hotel was non smoking! a little confusing!

    The hotel was cheap, clean and very close to the tube station

    The walls and ceiling seemed to be paper thin!

    Helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms. Superb towels!

    No lift - could be difficult for older customers. Heavy doors - would slam shut - annoying late at night.

    Warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. good quality double glazing meant we had a very quiet night. Staff friendly and very helpful.

    I asked the rceptionist to set my alamr clock, which she did very friendly, but the alarm did not work at the set time (room no. 9), and I woke up 1 hour late

    I cannot fault the City Hotel whatsoever. From my first stay onwards..it's just great value for money. I always use this hotel when in London - which is at least once a month. Don't change a thing!!

    "I thought it was illegal in terms of fire safety, in an unsafe area, unpleasantly noisy through the night because of people moving around to toilets, and very poor value for money at £99 per night, and am not surprised that no photo is provided on the web as it is so poky. I will never book online again without seeing the hotel photos - altogether I feel this is far more of a boarding house than a proper hotel and advise others who are looking for reasonable hotel accommodation to avoid it."     Hotel is accessed by narrow staircase from street (tiny sign - unknown to taxi-drivers!) which is the only access, and has NO FIRE ESCAPE - in my view this is illegal and is definitely not good practice for a multi-floor hotel. Smallish room, no toothglass provided, no tissues or hairdryer, only 4 channel TV, horrible outlook onto rundown buildings. Noisy doors banging all night, area outside unsafe at night evidenced by people drinking outside neighbouring pub and my taxi driver warning me against using the next door Underground station at night and staying to be sure I got through the street door OK. Did not like having to go out of street door and into the cafe on ground floor for breakfast - it was noisy and draughty.

    The hotel was very clean. The reception staff were very helpful.

    Not enough blankets. Because I was in a single room, the bed was pushed up against the radiator, due to lack of space. Therefore couldn't have the radiator on and my feet hung out of the bed, which resulted in a cold night's sleep!

    a very clean and warm space , we can see that you care a lot about our comfort, it was great , my friend and i had a really nice time.

    that's a shame that the restaurant was not open on sunday morning...
