    Room was generally good, facilities excellent. Breakfast v. good. Room clean and cleaned promptly during day

    Service at the bar was very poor overall once it was later on. Sometimes staff could not be found anywhere. Not even on the front desk!!

    Could do with a few more milk pots, the coffee is too strong to use just one milk pot per cup.

    Comfortable bed. Not much else.

    If room 15 was an 'executive room', as described in the booking, I hate to think what the standard ones are like. The shower, in particular, was very tatty. We were given a key pad code for access after 11:00 pm but it would not work. Had to track down a member of staff. Had to ask twice for toast with breakfast. Did not come until we had finished eating.

    The young lady receptionist who checked me in. I think she could have run the hotel herself- very polite, helpful, friendly... Good location, good and easy breakfast.

    "We were disappointed with our stay, the Hotel which could have been great looked and felt neglected as though nobody really cared about it. The food in the pub was awful and after a long day with 3 children we were looking forward to a nice meal and a relaxing drink. We were again disappointed the second morning of our stay as we were told that there wouldn't be an english breakfast as there wasn't anyone in the kitchen! we felt the young girl on the reception desk was put in an difficult position and there should have been a duty manager to deal with it.     The person on the reception desk when we arrived and the first morning was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her - she did an excellent job. The children were impressed with the 'African themed room'. The room was an excellent size for our family of 5.

    The food in the hotel pub was awful and the tables were sticky. The second morning of our stay we were informed that there wouldn't be a cooked breakfast as there wasn't anyone in the kitchen! The continential breakfast was the same plate of meat that was out the previous morning!!

    Breakfast was good and the room we were upgraded to was the standard we had expected initially.

    Hotel is misrepresented on the website. This is not a boutique hotel. Disappointed with the standard of our executive room, very scruffy had seen better days. Some communal areas of the hotel are very dated.

    Friendly helpful staff, tastefully decorated room and bathroom. Bed extremely comfortable, nice crisp fresh linen. Nicely prepared breakfast. Food and service in Chestnut Tree pub was good except for the lamb.

    Unfortunately had to send the lamb back, although menu said cooked pink it was totally undercooked!

    The booking process was seamless, and the hotel staff were polite and welcoming. The breakfast and service was excellent and overall the hotel was great value for money.

    pleasant spacious rooms- having a small sitting area was a nice surprize.The one member of hotel staff we saw during our stay, 2 nights, was pleasant and helpful.

    Inspite of following instructions carefully TV wouldn't work 2nd day/night. The HUGE TV in the only dinning room was dreadful - it was as though you were aiming at one market with accommodation and another with dinning area.The staff did though willingly gave us a table in the lower dinning area. Package on the internet listed items no longer available to guests- slippers/dressing gowns.

    Finding it- missed the turn off and had to travel a couple of miles in order to turn around!

    "overall i was pleased with my stay at the hotel, it was very pleasent and the rooms to high standard but as mentioned aboved the bath was not cleaned properly and if my stay would have been for longer i would have brought this to the managers attention. I would also have liked to have known before hand where the room is located i.e above or adjacent to a bar (as my room was) had i known this i would have requested a room away from these facilities. but lovely hotel and would go there again."     what was there not to like,the staff were very people friendly,each and every one i met,the food was lovely,and the room well for the money it was top notch.

    the rooms are very well layed out and the theme idea is great,it dont end there,the spar bath is a great touch,and a nice desk for my laptop

    "Ideally located off the A55, which gives the hotel a great location for touring, however not so good if you require peace and quiet. Beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms. The staff were more than helpful." (97860003)

    The overall atmosphere and general feeling of the room was wonderful.

    Our room was directly over a function room that had loud music until 12.30 am

    everything was very good. a bit better than i was expecting.

    the room was a bit cold during the night, it actually woke me up which is unusual for me, my wife had the same experience, but as usual she just turns over and goes back to sleep...ha ha.

    "We have travelled extensively over the past few years and this was one of the best places for children that we have ever stayed in. The Jelly Bean restaurant with soft play area for children is a wonderful idea and our family used it several nights. It was especially nice that the adults could enjoy meals off the main menu."     The house was wonderful especially with small children. We could put them to bed and enjoy time as a couple after a day of siteseeing. I would love to bring my extended family or friends here for another time.

    We had the Roman themed room and were very pleased with all the facilities both in the room & the hotel.

    As it is an older hotel, no double glazing meant the morning birdsong was a bit too loud for comfoft - I was woken @ 3:30 each day!

    "The hotel is easy to find, turn off the dual carriageway and there it is. Excellent large carpark. No steps to reception and a friendly greeting. No offer to take our luggage up to the room and no sign of a lift. Staircase decor is superb - local scenery painted by local artists. Themed rooms are something special, we were Roman and enjoyed it. Luxury spa bath was a bit of a let down, very gentle bubbles." (99531928)

    The hotel was refurbished about 5/6 years ago and needs some attention, eg stair carpet shows signs of wear

    "the staff could have been a little more friendly but generally they were ok. the hotel itself was lovely. the food was great and my kids really enjoyed it. they got a gift on arrival which they really liked. the stay would have been perfect only for the music that was blasting in our room and when you are tired its the last thing that you want to hear. if i had have been warned of this i would have stayed elsewhere."     they put us in a room above loud music that had went on til past 12 at night my kids couldnt sleep as it was really loud.

    "Go for the Exec rooms as they are themed and really do look great, mine was spacious had 2 sofa's so plenty of room to entertain ;-) Didn't eat this time but the food there is always decent, staff are freindly, the bar opens late. Only downside is no air con so might be not too good in the summer" (99015766)

    "Good food in bar BUT Cellars bistro not open (this on a Bank Holiday). Modern decor but rather superficial, seemed quite tatty underneath. Bathroom for example not very luxurious. Shower did not work, reason given was 'listed building, hence no water pressure!!'What about all the other listed buildings, including my own, that have showers that work. Awful loacation right next to A55 flyover, not in the village of St Asaph at all." (99818599)
