    The female receptionist we met on arrival was pleasant, and the cleaning staff were polite and thorough.

    Bed very hard; hotel being re-furbished (restaurant and bar -we had not been advised of this) so facilities restricted and noise levels below our window bad from 08.00; shower-room ridiculously small - not even enough room for a proper sink; check-out staff member was disinterested and bordered on rude.

    After a very long drive it is gratifying to see all staff smiling, helpfull and knowing what they are doing. That goes a long way to pleasing guests.

    When you get the good points right you dont really notice or look for bad points.

    I had to move rooms twice due to the beds not being clean. The beds were made however it was 100% obvious that the beds had been slept in already and then just remade with the same bedding. I travel to Guildford on a regular basis and will not be staying at the Mandolay Hotel again!

    We stayed as part of a 4 week Europe vacation and chose your hotel because it offered a family room and was close to London rather than actually in London where rates were far too high. It was very good for commuting daily to the London 'must see' locations.

    We arrived at check in very earlyin the day and the room we were given had a nasty damp smell.....not good especially with children. When i complained, the issue was addressed immediately and I was offered another room which was pleasing.

    lovely friendly staff who had good local knowledge, they were able to help with directions and bus routes etc.

    The bathroom was cramped and without an extractor dispelling ablution smells into the room. The breakfast was not good/original enough to merit the cost [normal B.&B. fare. The lamb shank was served partially cold without the advertised wine in the sauceand the meat, scant. The room was noisy due to traffic.

    Fresh smelling bedding and towels. Nice clean fresh towels on 2nd day. Friendly staff. Window that opened to allow fresh air in.

    Door difficult for me to lock. Noisy guests outside my room in early hours on first night were shouting and talking in the corridor (I realise this is not your fault directly but there should be notices in corridors to remind such ignorant people that other guests are sleeping). No help in and out with luggage.

    Room was spacious and clean with good layout and thoughtfully chosen furnishings.

    Lighting was not good for reading in bed or using mirror.

    "Very poor room, should only be used as a utility room for staff! Very uninspriring, if it was cheaper, it would have been ok from a value point of view but very overpriced. Now I know why they dont have their own website to view the facilities before booking." (107422373)

    All equipment and fittings worked, room was clean and tidy and well presented

    Tiny, tiny room. Very poor value for the money. Very unsatisfying indeed, I wont be using again. Also, the room was to near the reception and bar, which meant the thudding music from the bar could be heard in the room even in the early hours of the morning. Cost more than the local Travelodge which offered a bathroom and room at least 3 times the size of the Mandolay. Well, presented from the outside, but from within its nothing more than a well painted B&B, charging hotel rates?

    Excellent value for money, very clean and well equipped hotel with good reasonably priced bar food in the evenings. Very handy for the town centre.

    Parking a bit limited.

    This is definetly one of the best Hotel close to high street. It's beautifull, friendly, car park available and very clean. I highly recommend this lovely hotel to anyone coming to Guilford for business or pleasure.

    It was far to hot in the bedroom...Just keep an eye on the thermosta! This is not a complain! (better to hot than to cold anyway)

    ROOM: Clean overall. Comfortable bed. Nice suite of lamps to choose from for lighting in the room. Very well lit and pleasing bathroom. Aesthetically pleasing furniture. Good size TV and programme choices. HOTEL: Pleasant looking hotel overall. Centrally situated.

    A)I would have expected a room that size (was very snug) to come with a small discount. B) I was concerned that you could clearly hear music in the bathroom (from the bar below?) until midnight; however, with the bathroom door closed I could hardly hear it in the bedroom, so it was not a problem in the end. C) Because of the dimensions of the room, the wardrobe was not tall enough for hanging my suit trousers, and the desk was very small D) The attachment which was supposed to hold the shower head on was broken.

    Very good-sized room, and nice, fresh-looking decor.

    Eccentric shower over corner bath, and there was no bath mat. Disliked the disposable plastic beakers in the bathroom - surely it's more eco-friendly to use glass? And breakfast finishing at 9:30 on a Saturday seemed a bit odd to me, so we breakfasted in town instead.

    "I'd stay here again as there's very few alternatives in Guildford." (97157009)

    Able to get a room to sleep 2 adults and 2 children. Close to Stoke Park and town centre plus easy car parking.

    Room cramped, too hot, in need of renovation, bed too hard and pillows hard and thin.

    "The hotel is clean within and smart outside. The bar appears to be popular with locals which is a good sign. It is situated within the centre which is a bonus. This is a tiny gripe, but as this was my first time at this hotel and being a weekend it was extremely quiet, an upgrade would have been nice. The staff were very pleasant although tending to be reactive rather than proactive." (108016249)

    Hotel was spotless, Breakfast was of good quality, especially the method of egg presentation. I prefer to have freshly made toast so the machine provided to make my own was perfect.

    I asked for an Iron. Forgive me, but it seems wierd to go and iron something within what could be called a large cupboard. If I'd ironed a second shirt I'd probably died of dehydration. Think about having a token system for the iron.

    We booked an Executive Double Room with a Queen Bed but were given a family room with an extra single bed which was useful because the double was too small anyway!!
