    "There was a lot of noise from the bedroom above making it difficult to relax and sleep as one could hear every sound and footstep. The bedroom areas could do with some soundproofing." (108410886)

    Bedroom facilities and meals good.

    When we arrived, the hotel had no record whatsoever of our booking which had not been passed on by the booking agent. Fortunately the hotel had room to fit us in, otherwise we would not have been too happy.

    It would be beneficial to have an extractor fan in the bathroom. Also tiles on bathroom floor would be preferable.

    We enjoyed our brief stay at the hotel and would certainly consider staying there again when in the area. I think our response to the above questions indicates our satisfaction with the hotel.

    Beautiful location and fabulous food. Attentive staff. I am a coeliac and need a special diet, the staff and chef were superb at catering for me. Easy parking and access.

    Only minor bad points: room wasn't that large or impressive for a king size. The lamp switches by the bed were awkward to reach.

    Bedroom was nice, but the Bathroom was a poor standard Had a shower, shower pressure low Did not have a bath, as the Bath was very worn, no enamel on bath

    The hotel had a beautiful location, the rooms were well appointed, lovely linen nice food.

    No hot water - breakfast started at bit late for the business traveller, but to be fair it really was not that sort of hotel. If I had been a couple, the bed would not have been big enough.

    "We had an excellent time. The hotel is well situated for the coast path in both Devon and Dorset and for some of the nicest gtowns in the UK (Bridport, Lyme Regis and Weymouth). The food is very good value, well cooked and nicely presented. " (107652261)

    Excellent food, friendly and efficient service. Overall good value.

    The rooms, and in particular our bathroom, need updating. The weekend room prices are a bit steep.

    Pleasant location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast food. Extremely honest staff (found purse with cash that we had left on departure and 'phoned us to advise of this).

    Damp and musty smell in the garden wing where our room was located. Damp bedding first night. Heating in room inadequate for weather conditions. Very limited TV stations and not good reception of TV. Extremely excessive room service supplement cost. Some elements of room cleaning not thorough.

    The hotel was very clean. Excellent unobtrusive service; staff were very friendly without being over-familiar, and remembered personal preferences and foibles. The chef asked us if we would like any special dish on our last night there, which was a nice, unusual touch. The general atmosphere was pleasantly relaxed and not spoilt with the pettifogging rules that sometimes one encounters in hotels. The owner is a very competent hotelier and deserves credit.

    The only winge I have is that the hot water supply sometimes took a long time (~10 min)to come through in the morning, but that is probably due to ageing plumbing, which we understood (not that we complained) was due for renovation anyway.

    The excellent lighting which is so poor in many hotels. The personal attention. The excellent food. The friendliness of the staff. The quiet.

    "We only stayed the one night in October at a discounted rate, so difficult to make a proper judgement. Hotel comprises an older main house with character, and a more modern extension, where we stayed. Our room was spacious and warm but bathroom small. Would have prefered bedside table lamps with shades instead of wall lights. Attractive restaurant area looked inviting and cosy but too expensive for us. We motored to nearby Axminister for our evening meal. Owner and staff helpful and friendly. Good choice of breakfasts." (97460925)

    Quiet, peaceful environment, beautiful countryside views. Good selection and quantity of drink sachets in room.

    Set in very nice grounds with stunning views. Address states near Lyme Regis but in fact it is only 10 minutes drive from Axminster......

    The room decor is rather old an is in need of refurbishment. If you choose to eat at the local pub it is best to call ahead and check availibilty!!
