    "Happy - would use again." (108821168)

    The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was upgraded, clean and breakfast was good.

    Our bath leaked which caused a bit of a problem but apart from that everything was fine.

    The room (No 10) was more like a self contianed 1 bed cottage with small garden with beautiful country views.(this was a pleasant suprise)

    Comfortable clean room, good food, good views looking over large pond where we were able to sit and relax

    Cleanliness of room and staff attitude and performance excellent. Food very good.

    Shortage of staff. Staff working were run ragged. Drawer in chest of drawers broken. (Room 2)

    well thought out room. everything worked. the bathroom was very well designed with plenty of space to put toiletries. the shower was the best i've ever used in a hotel. the food was excellent as was the service from the staff.

    the cold box/fridge was very noisy so we turned it off at night which sort of defeated the object of it. the bathroom needed remedial work on the tiles to eliminate the mould.

    Room not serviced while we were there.Bed not made, bins not emptied, bathroom not cleaned. Full breakfast not available till 9.15am.

    "We stayed in the Halfway House Inn Country Lodge on our way to Cornwall and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room and board provided. The staff were incredibly helpful and accomodating. A good place to stop over when you need a place to sleep." (107788664)

    Nice large room (more like a small duplex studio than a room). Friendly staff. Great food served in the pub restaurant. Very nice large continental breakfast tray provided for a modest price.

    "I would not choose to stay at this hotel again. It seemed to me that the overall format missed the essential aspects of comfort - in terms of the layout of the hotel and access to staff." (107397471)

    The facilities in the room were very good and the location of the hotel good - easy to find. The lounge was pleasant.

    The room opened directly onto the garden/car park - without even a lobby. This was uncomfortable and felt insecure. I was offered either a cooked breakfast in the dining room - or a 'breakfast tray' in my room. I asked if I could have a continental breakfast in the dining roon and this was refused. When I tried to check out in the morning there was no access to the recepition - at 8.15am! I had to leave the key at the door with a note. I felt that these aspects gave an impression that there was very little focus on customer attention and comfort.

    "With a phone in the bedroom, our stay at the hotel would have been very enjoyable." (107583512)

    Good accomodation (except for the absence of a phone in our bedroom). Excellent pub-type meals. Helpful, friendly and efficient staff

    Seemed almost completely deserted at night. With our bedroom in the outside chalet block we felt somewhat vulnerable. We understood that the manager alone slept somewhere in the main part of the hotel, but there with no phone in our room it would have been very difficult to have contacted him in the event of an emergency.

    Room was like a little house, kitchen,lounge, bathroom and an upstairs bedroom! shower brilliant!

    Pub a little tired looking but food made up for it.

    "A nice place where I would stay again" (107392899)

    The bedroom was very well appointed. Full sized bath en suite. Good food and beer available. Nice staff. Comfortable bed and reasonably quiet at night.

    There is no breakfast service available in the winter months. The web site says that breakfast is £5 extra, however it doesn't say that all this consists of is a tray brought to your room the night before of toast and cereal - which obviously is not worth £5. This should be described as "Continental breakfast tray" on the web site.

    The staff were really friendly and the food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It was nice that the room was like a little appartment with private entrance, i feel i could have stayed much longer and been very satisfied.

    "Disappointing" (97217658)

    Bathroom had black mould on the walls, flooring inside bathroom uneven. Windows in restaurant do not open so it was stifling, plus there were flies in the dining room, the first breakfast was swimming in oil and we had to wait 45 minutes for it. 2nd breakfast we only received half of what was ordered and there was no fruit.

    Easy to find and very convenient for Yeovil College. From room lovely aspect with the lake, etc. Convenient parking close to room. Friendly and helpful staff.

    Plain glass in windows meant all passers by could see in and there were a lot of them on Sat night. Had to close the blinds when it was still light and there was no opportunity to have them down and still have light in. Shower was far too powerful and made it difficult to get under it and keep water off the florr. I am used to a power shower but even so it was too much for me!

    "Unfortunately, we chose to eat in-house and the food was badly cooked and inedible. We left 3/4 of the meal unfinished - but not even that prompted the owner(s) to query what was wrong with the meal. This belies the description in 'Hidden Inns of the West Country' which says that guests can enjoy delicious meals.... created by expert chefs, and this was one of the things that attracted us to stay here. Needless to say we paid our bill in full, but after our dinner experience, were not tempted to stop for breakfast, and got on our way the next morning." (97022963)

    The restaurant was pleasant as was the general setting and location of the inn.

    The accommodation was part of a recently built extension. The quality of the finish was poor with loose skirtings and badly finished decoration. The dining room had been pre-booked by a large party and we were unaware of this at the time of booking, and that was unfortunate as the location is remote from other restaurants. However, we were eventually found a table in the restaurant.
