    Hotel was comfortable and the food was good.

    Only problem we had was there was no one on reception when we arrived and no bell to ring to attract attention - so 1st impression was bad.

    "Wonderful grounds. Hotel needs refurbishment as it is tired. Could make a wonderful venue but appreciate would be costly to upgrade. " (108364368)

    Good to get a decent amount of tea and coffee provisions and a box of tissues -not one stuck in a box. Likewise bathroom products provided such as a shower cap and shampoo etc. Also hairdryer, iron and ironing board and trouser press.

    None except full when we need to stay again on Saturday 19th September as we would have liked to have tried your upgrade room. Never mind perhaps another time. There were cigarettes left in a draw and an old newspaper in the room.

    Overall hotel was good

    Only bad point - as we arrived after 9.00 having travelled from Lincoln, we could not get anything to eat - maybe late supper could be considered?

    Nice room, clean and well equippped.

    Reception staff off-hand and not very welcoming. Visit coincided with coach party staying at the hotel, which made the dining room and leisure areas very crowded. I went to a local pub for supper.

    Husband managed to have a rest.

    formal letter arrived with Hotel Manager this morning.poor food quality,no real choice.no hot water-for shower-luke warm.bathroom not cleaned well.carpets and fabric look tatty.collection of build up of dust on stairs,poorly fitting sheets.although not a concern to us only four channels on TV.

    Easy to find, good price, pleasant restaurant, excellent lighting in nice warm bedroom & no nasty surprises.

    No real grumbles, but would have appreciated toothbrush holders (mugs)and hand soap on wash-stand. Although plenty of soap (squeezy type) in shower.

    Very convenient for where we wanted. Everything promised was there and extra specifications honoured. Staff very good except for slowish service at breakfast, but they were busy. Excellent value for money

    Could do with a bit of a clean up here and there, especially cobwebs above eye level in corridors.

    Very Friendly Hotel, nice room - Evening meal excellent staff very nice.

    Some of the young staff appeared untrained eg. show you to table then disapear so you have to find someone else for service etc.

    "Very convenient for our trip and the room definitely met our needs. Would always book online through Activehotels rather than call hotel directly - much easier and got confirmation very quickly." (107113113)

    The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped (no fridge though). Pillows were great! Convenient location for us and easy parking.

    The girl at check-in was not very efficient - not very customer friendly. When I tried (and failed) to book direct with hotel, reception was curt and almost rude. No breakfast available even in our room before 8am at the weekend (we needed something at 6.30am).

    "Good value for money in comparison to local hotels but could do with new bedding - duvets with fresh white covers etc, blankets give the appearence that they don't get washed in between guests, only the sheets do. New lighter decor rather than heavy and tired dark coloured bed linen and curtains as present." (107178894)

    Good room sizes.

    Pay on check in before you've seen your rooms, poor customer service on occasions, children behind the reception desk, bedspreads look dirty and old as do blankets, bathrooms old and appear unclean as a result.

    "Although the hotel looks rubbish from outside and the reception puts one in mind of Crossroads Motel, this is actually a very pleasant and well-run hotel. I recommend it. If, like Lynne Truss, bad grammar drives you mad, don't read the information booklet in the room - the punctuation makes it gibberish! All in all a good base if you're visiting the area, but the public areas of the hotel are highly uninspiring. The room was good, though." (107201767)

    Very helpful and polite staff. Overall great value for money. Didn't eat in restaurant as had already arranged something else - but had a peak at the menu and it looked very tasty!

    Beds were very soft.

    The hotel is excellent value. The room was comfortable and the hotel has a nice feel of space and cleanliness. The grounds are very pleasant, there is ample parking, and the breakfast is very good.

    The hotel was clean and comfortable and very good for visiting Sherborne.

    The fried eggs at breakfast were easily the worst I have ever experienced.

    "We booked this hotel as it's the only one in walking distance of the town centre (15 mins) which wasn't 'boutiquey' and didn't charge an arm and a leg. It was satisfatory from that point of view." (97848538)

    The attitude of the staff was particularly helpful, as they let us park all day before we checked in, and agreed to bring breakfast on the Sunday morning forward 3/4 hr as our party had to be in the town by just after 8am.

    The hotel is in need of refreshment - it's tired and a bit worn round the edges. Our room was OK, but others we saw were very jaded.

    It was clean and roomy. Bed comfortable.

    Difficulty in getting hot water in the morning had to run the tap for 5 mins before warm water came through.
