    clean. comfortable beds. laid back breakfast arrangements & good choice. easy to find location. good proximity to motorway. quiet room. late arrival appreciated - manned reception avoids automated check in.

    excessive charge for using TV.

    really enjoyed our stay. hotel close to buses shops pubs. the hotel being fairly new was spotless and the staff very helpful and friendly.

    Convenient location, modern, cheap, excellent shower, and spacious room.

    Although smoking has been prohibited in Scottish hotels since March 2006 our room smelt very strongly of stale cigarette smoke.

    Nice modern furnishings, lovely clean bathroom

    Our room was very close to the Hamilton Palace night club and it was very noisy until about 3am when the nightclub closed. If I stayed again I would request a room at the other side of the hotel away from the nightclub.

    We found the hotel to be very modern, clean & well equiped & the staff to be more than helpful. The rooms are clean & spacious & the bed was comfy, the bathroom & shower was exellent.

    The only problem we had was nothing to do with the hotel more of its location near the main road where local youths seem to congregate at night time on the pay & display car park in front of the hotel, you hear them racing their cars around the area all night until the early hours, we had to be leaving the hotel at 4am both sat & sun morn to be at meetings & at 1.30 these cars were still racing about with their large exhausts. we know it is nothing to do with the hotel but it doesnt help guests. If your on a rear room you dont hear it as we didnt hear it on our last stay when we were in a rear room.

    staff extremely willing to help and researched local bus times and taxi fayres which we were very greatful for considereing we were not familiar with the area

    Staff friendly and available. hotel clean and new. Bed new and firm. Enjoyed the sofa in the room and the desk.

    Room very stuffy. No ventilation at all. Not even in bathroom for steam/hot air from shower. No air conditioning. Windows did not open adequately, no fans available (per staff), too warm to sleep. two pillows only (should have had one or two extra in room)...needed another.... spent a restless, sweaty unhappy night without sleep. Eastern sun in the room early, adding heat and reqiring the curtains to be shut...closing off any breath of air that might have come from the 4" the window would open. Also, I had to ask four times before the staff could help me find a self service laundry. Always available to help but unable to tell me where to find a place to do my own laundry. I finally asked for a phone book and found some self service laundries listed. The staff then gave me driving directions to the laundry company that services the hotel... and also has self service laundry. This could have been done the first time I asked.

    It was the Active hotels reservation that let it all down. Fax system not working at Hamilton. Please spell questionnaire with two nns.

    We booked three rooms. Two rooms were checked out after one night!! Room key did not work when we returned at 1.00 a.m.

    "the only problem we encountered was that we arrived early, we did not realise that we could not book into our room untill 2 o clock, but staff were brilliant got us into our room as soon as they were able. and after a long journey we welcomed this." (97270978)

    was clean good shower but no bath television stations average

    no cooked breakfast which we knew about before booking but no other types of hot meals at other time during dinner time or otherwise

    Hotel very Clean, Comfortable and with Caring staff. We really enjoyed the big choice of items for breakfast.

    "I saw, from the online map that the Hotel was ideally located, near cinema, shops, bus and train stations. I required two single beds, and was able to book this on line. It was good to know from the web site that breakfast was included in the price. Overall, it was great!" (97741205)

    It was spaceous, clean and the TV channel choice was excellent.

    "the hotel is on a busy roundabout and near to a nightclub which if you get a room at the front might be a problem.the breakfast would have been better with a hot option,but overall the staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel was spotless." (97329389)

    Nice and clean

    a bit noisey as close to nightclub...if you get a room overlooking the road.

    It was a very pleasant hotel. Good reception area and lounge with two tvs linked to Sky. Bedrooms were nice too.

    Only bar food available - (which was fine) - but a linked restaurant would be better for longer term stays.

    "The staff were all so helpful and really went out of their way to provide that extra bit of customer service. I was travelling alone and so this was a real bonus to me and made my stay. I travel alot around the country at the moment and its important to me to be able to feel really relaxed, safe and able to rest without worrying. This was the first time I had really felt like that in a hotel." (97153648)

    I was working at the theatre at night and needed to use my room to rest in during the day. I found it a most relaxing friendly place.

    Room was slightly cold and I was a little confused as to the entertainment system, but overall I had a good stay.

    "I have stayed in many Holiday Inn's in the past and several Travellodge's and for the money the Holiday Inn Express was probabaly the best and most comfortable to date, althouth this was expected as the Hotel is so new." (97210313)

    The modern feel and overall facilities

    Broken bathroom door handle, broken bathroom sink plug, creaky headboard, no complimentary toothpaste available at reception after I forgot mine.

    "Overall good value for money. Lack of parking at the hotel itself creates an extra worry though. I could not get a space in the free overnight parking for several hours after check-in because that car park is shared with a multi-screen cinema. However this is the only negative feature, the hotel itself is very nice." (97127167)

    Everything was clean and new, and friendly staff. The price was very reasonable.

    Cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, also breakfast was available til 10.30am

    The hotel doesn't have its own parking so either have to pay in the long stay and get up early to buy another ticket or park accross the road in a pay & display which is quite expensive.
